Mr. Carlson spent a decade designing parts for Steeda Autosports before forming Realspeed Automotive in 2004. Racing has always been a passion for Dan, whether it was a little 13 foot boat when he was 10 years old, rallying his friends to take all their cars to the drag strip for a grudge-match, or competing in road races with the Sports Car Club of America. Today Dan?ˆ™s Mustang runs the quarter mile in 10.4 @ 132 mph and gets 22 mpg on the highway and 16 mpg around town. It is still driven daily, out-handles most other mustangs on the road, and is used for everything from weekend cruising to picking the kids up from school. All this is accomplished with the help of about a dozen parts that Dan designed himself, and most of those parts are available right here at realspeedautomotive.com. Dyno testing and tuning is available on our state-of the art Mustang MD1100-SE Dyno. The Mustang dyno incorporates an eddy current load controller to simulate the actual load (combined aerodynamic drag, rolling friction, and vehicle inertia [weight]) the vehicle experiences while driving on the street or racetrack. This allows for more accurate tuning under conditions that match the real world. These conditions can?ˆ™t be simulated by an inertia-only dyno (like the more common and less expensive Dynojet). Our dyno can also hold a constant speed while engine load is varied from idle all the way up to full throttle. This allows proper mapping of certain tuning parameters that is just not possible on other shop`s dynos. These are just a few of the reasons why a Realspeed tune is the best! Realspeed is also Long Island`s only tuner certified with SCT`s advanced "Calibrator" status.

TIME and EXPERIENCE make a Realspeed tune the best. We simply put more time into tuning each vehicle than other tuners do, and we have more experience getting down to all the little details that make the engine run better. A Realspeed tune is much more than a quick ?ˆ?tweak?ˆ? of your car. We thoroughly go over your car and your computer?ˆ™s calibration and take the time to do the extra steps required for the best possible result.

great shop! besides being well qualified to work on any mustang, the owner and lead technician both own fox mustangs as daily drivers and know these cars well... i personally drive a 93 lx as a daily driver and appreciate that the guys working on my car own the same model and run them as daily drivers like me so I know my car is in good hands. i have always left pleased with the work.
