RV Repairs

Customer BEWARE!! In June of 2013, I took my RV to Moon Valley Auto Repair after it had failed emissions control testing. I drove the vehicle in and towed it out. After $650 dollars worth of tinkering they had replaced a brand new Auto Parts starter I had just installed not more than 30 days previously with a supposedly superior Delco starter. Moon Valley told me they would put the Auto Parts starter in the ... view moreRV and I could take it back for an exchange. The also replaced a few vacuum hoses but never got the vehicle running. At this point I was told I now needed a new fly wheel on the transmission with the cost of approximately $1000 and a new radiator and hoses for the additional cost of $1000. The estimate to get the additional necessary repairs to the vehicle and get it out of the shop was $2000 to $3000. At this point I knew I had stepped into the auto repair shop scam headquarters ran by a east coast witch named?ˆ? Dawn?ˆ?, with a screw the suckers attitude to making money and customer service. The Auto parts starter was never placed in the RV so I could make a return. I was told that they returned the new Auto Parts starter for a core charge. I paid the $650 bill without a comment and called a tow truck ($300) to take the RV to part time mechanic friend who replaced the flywheel for $300. So the fly wheel was a legitimate needed repair ( although he stated he had never seen a fly wheel damage in this manner) but the radiator and hoses were bogus Approximately 4 months later after having started the RV a few dozen times the new superior Delco starter that Moon Valley Auto installed went out while on the road. I had the vehicle towed ($280)to a recommended Glendale mechanic and they replaced the Delco rebuilt starter with a new factory starter that is now working like a champ. I took the superior Delco rebuilt starter back to Moon Valley and simply asked them to either return this starter for a new starter or return my money. I did not ask for my money back for the installation of a faulty starter, I just asked them to replace the starter. I was told they no longer had a box for the starter and it could not be returned for a refund or a new starter. I was also told that she could not verify that this was even the starter that her shop installed. When I suggest that she simply check her records to verify the serial number she told me she could not do that. When I asked for my money back and confronted the owner about the estimates for the radiator and hose work that did not need to be done she threatened to call the police if I did not leave her shop. I have since spoken to a neighbor who had a similar experience. He took his truck to Moon Valley and he was giving a long list of necessary repairs running into the thousands of dollars. The man then took the truck to his local Chevy dealer for a second estimate. The Chevy dealer found NO NEED for any of the repairs than Moon Valley had deemed necessary. They repaired his truck for a few hundred dollars. In relating this story to a third auto shop that has just completed the starter repair a mechanic informed me that he once worked for the tow company owned and operated by Moon Valley. He stated that he had quit after discovering how they operated and also stated ?ˆ? Those people are crooks with a rude attitude towards customers?ˆ?. End of Story!

Yesterday, I had a blown tire and I broke down right in front of their operation. They gave me fabulous and caring service and attention. Drove me home so I didn`t have to wait there and then picked me up as soon as my car was ready. I haghly recommend them to everyone and I will make sure my friends and relatives know about this place.

Stay away Warning warning: On 3/22/2012 I took my car in for a brake warning light that came on and off, they looked at the car and said the brakes need to be replaced and that the disc rotor needs to be replaced, and said the timmming belt needed to be replaced, or the engine would come apart. I told them to turn the rotors, because they have never been to turned before, Dawn`s reply is that the metal is to soft a... view morend they can`t be turned. This is a lexus that has 90,000 on it and is in great shape,so they replaced the disc rotors,and not the brake pads,you always replace the pads each brake job and for sure if you replace the rotors. The check engine light, turned out to be a emissions warning,they replace the gas cap at 36.00 and replaced a hose clamp, and said that should fix the problem, sure enough it did for two days, the light came back on and we took the car back in and they charged me another $ 90.00 to run a smoke test, and it turns out as Dawn says that the o ring on the top of the fuel tank is leaking emissions and they woukld have to drop the drive train and the fuel tank and it would cost around 1000 dollars to repair.I ask her today the 6th of April, what if that does not solve the problem then she said that they would have to go back in and do another smoke test and more money, come on man $ 90.00 each time they do a smoke test then more repairs ?Dawn uses scare tactics to move people to repair their cars that don`t need the work they do. I can assure you please stay away from this shop, it is a crooked run shop and they will take your money, and if you question Dawn she get`s real defensive she know`s everything and talks real fast and is real slick, or she thinks she is. My first bill was $ 1539.76 and the bill today was $ 90.00 it will be the last bill I will ever get from this shop. I should have looked at the bill a little closer, but I didn`t because I trusted them, don`t make my mistake. Just don`t go there. Just like all car owners my car broke down. I know a bit about cars but couldn`t figure it out. A friend referred me to M.V.M.C.. They where able to find and fix the problem and also let me know that I also had a couple of others problems that needed to be fixed soon and thats what I LOVE. I prefer to spend a little now and not pay a lot later along with not having my car brake down in this summer heat with my family... view more in it. Girl, Dawn behind the desk is owners daughter and service writer. She is so great with her knowledge of cars-kinda reminds me of Marissa Tomei from My Cousin Vinny! ha ha. I would suggest to stay away from this shop. Their estimates are a lot more than what other shops had quoted. When I asked to review the estimate they got really short with me. I knew something was fishy when they told me it would be an additional $70 for the coolant. I don`t trust this shop and it was clear that customer service is not a priority.

I`ve been taking my cars here for about 7 years. I`ve always been treated fairly, and they`ve done good work. On the very few instances where mistakes have been made, they`ve been quick to make it right. This is a family run business, and they get to know their regulars.

Not a business you want to take your vehicle to! Watch out for the upsale, overpriced, may take short cuts, questionable work, and they will not take responsiblity for their actions. I had to take my car to another shop to get it fixed correctly!

The staff is rude. Pressure to get unnecessary repairs. Insult customers who question their estimate, or do not want to have all the recommended service done. Put the most expensive jobs first and make custumers with smaller repairs wait longer. Send customers who had made an appointment away saying that they are busy. Do not meet the schedule. I will never go there again.
