 1983 Jeep CJ7
Red On red/black.
Hardtop and metal doors.
Very tiny amount of surface rust where body stripes were.

ENGINE: 4.2 258 inline 6 cylinder
                  4-speed manual transmission.
Motor was supposed to have been rebuilt about 25,000 miles ago but I have no proof. Engine runs good. Carb was just rebuilt. Has the nutter bypass done but all original equipment is still there except 02 sensor and EGR. Cold starts and idles at approx 1650 rpm, then idles down to 700 rpm when warm. Timing is set at 12 degrees and starts and runs great. Transmission/transfer case shifts as it should. Could use a new muffler and tailpipe.

TIRES: BF Goodrich 33x12.50x15. Nice tread. Some dry rot. Few chunks missing here and there. They came off of a rock crawler.

BODY:  Said to be original paint. Has some worn spots on hood and fender tops. Still has a decent shine with some wax. No rust through anywhere. Very little surface rust under where there were some body stripes. Windshield frame has some surface rust on the lower section under glass. It also has some holes drilled in upper corners that look like a lightbar or something was installed. Floorboards nice. Fiberglass hardtop is in nice shape. Metal doors have a little bit of rust on the window surrounds. Has chrome accent hinges and trim pieces, I assume these are aftermarket. Stone guards on all lights. Has swing away rear tire carrier(no spare). All lights work(drivers front fender marker light needs replaced). No real dents to speak of. FRAME HAS NO RUST AT ALL!!!

SUSPENSION: 4 inch skyjacker softride front and rear leaf lift. Right rear shock bad. Quick disconnect skyjacker sway bar links. I will include 4 warrior offroad extended shackles. I dont prefer these extended shackles but you can have them. It has 3 inch stock style shackles right now. It also comes with a transfer case drop kit. Don't think you need it but it is included. Not sure of gear ratio or anything as I took this in on a trade.

The heater has had the chevy blazer fan upgrade. It blows with some force unlike the original. The top climate control cable that controls vent/heat/etc needs some attention. it still works but not right. Jeep has bestop seats, nice and comfortable.

Needs: Windshield-cracked. Muffler. Right rear shock. Headlight switch knob. Heater cable mentioned above either adjusted or replaced. No glove box liner.

I traded around and ended up with this jeep. I kind of fell in love with it but I am getting ready to move. I would like to keep it but it is not practical to drag it across the country(I'm taking 3 others already).

I know this jeep needs a little work so I feel I have priced it accordingly. I will give the winning bidder the option of a new windshield for $175. That is my cost to have it professionally installed. If you want the windshield, you can pay the $175 and I will have it put in before you come and get it.

Clear South Dakota Title will be sent to you as soon as payment is made in full. I don't charge storage or anything and the jeep can sit here approx 60 days before I leave.
$500 NON REFUNDABLE deposit due through paypal within 24 hours of auction end. Remainder due in 7 days either in cash, cashier check, or certified money order ONLY!!! Feel free to call me at 605-858-3400 with any questions or picture/video needs. You are welcome to come and drive it, take it to a mechanic to be checked over, whatever you want to do. The jeep mileage may go up a bit as I do drive it occasionally. As soon as the first bid is received, it will be parked and plates removed. The jeep is for sale locally and I reserve the right to remove listing at any time. Once the jeep gets a bid, it will sell to highest bidder and local sale will be removed as an option.

Thank you and happy bidding!!!

Europe gets Jeep Wrangler Polar limited edition

Wed, 04 Sep 2013

Jeep will be bringing an all-new, limited-edition model to the European market called the Wrangler Polar. Based on the Wrangler Sahara and set to make its debut at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show, the Wrangler Polar sports new Hyrdro Blue paint, gloss black 18-inch wheels, a body-color hardtop, and the regular mix of Mopar styling accessories. Billet Silver Metallic and Bright White are available for those that don't dig the glossy blue, while a two-door variant will be available in addition to the four-door pictured above.
The Polar's interior features similar tweaks; Pearl White contrast stitching can be found on both the seats and steering wheel, while ceramic White bezels and other accents give a nice contrasting look to the cabin.
Underhood sits an engine that should make American Wrangler enthusiasts weep - a 2.8-liter, four-cylinder turbodiesel. With 200 horsepower and 339 pound-feet of torque channeled through a five-speed automatic transmission, the Wrangler Polar should handle itself just fine on normal roads. British buyers will also be able to select the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6. For rougher stuff, Dana axles can be found front and rear (Dana 30 up front and Dana 44 in back), while the Command-Trac four-wheel-drive system and its two-speed transfer case should be enough for when the roads disappear.

Jeep Cherokee faces on-sale delay

Sat, 23 Mar 2013

A report in The Wall Street Journal looks at some of the obstacles to the 2014 Jeep Cherokee that go beyond its mootable yet "very contemporary" looks, almost all of them based on Fiat's financial position. Starting with that sheetmetal, in defense of it SRT president Ralph Gilles and Jeep design head Mark Allen said they wanted to "make sure the design still looks modern five years from now."
The WSJ piece doesn't cite longevity as a factor, instead saying that its features originated in a design for an Alfa Romeo, the transformation into a Jeep design meant allowing Chrysler get it to market more quickly and save "hundreds of millions of dollars" in engineering.
The need for Fiat to save money while it weathers the European situation has cut budgets for development, engineering and the pace of retooling the Toledo, Ohio plant to build the Cherokee. In a familiar case of snowballing at work, among the effects will be pushing back the Cherokee's volume sales date and delaying updates to some of Chrysler's other products.

Watch this 9-year-old drive Jeep Wrangler off-road [w/poll]

Wed, 28 May 2014

This nine-year-old girl might be better at rock crawling than some people twice her age. But is it worth putting her in danger to do it? According to her father on the Jeep Experience Facebook page, her name is Faith, and she has been offroading with her family since she was two. At nine years old, she's now driving her dad's Jeep over the rocks by herself.
As you can see she's belted in and under her father's direct supervision and guidance. She shows immense confidence for someone her age and follows her dad's instructions on exactly what to do. Although, this could still be a very dangerous situation if something went wrong.
Previously, we saw a similar video with a six-year-old on a motorcycle driving on public roads through the desert. Voters decided by only a six-point margin that the adult should be in trouble for letting the kid ride the bike. Here, we have a slightly older child driving a vehicle off road. Where do you fall in this case? Is it still wrong to hand over control to a child? Let us know in the poll below and scroll down to watch the video.
