1970 Ford Torino Gt 351 Cleveland 4 Bll on 2040-cars
New Baden, Illinois, United States
This 1970 torino GT was a theift recovery from a chop shop in new york years ago and it has a replacement vin so we have no idea what it started life as, however it has a really good running 351 cleveland 4 bll motor with a nasty cam, real nice headers and a bit of a stahl converter, an a firm shifting c6 auto and a low gear posi rear, and power disk brakes up front. I think it is like 4.30 or something. I drove this car before it was taken apart for restoration , and it will burn the tires at will. Very good brakes and the front end is tight. Full set of magnum 500s with rings and caps. I am a mopar guy with no idea about these fords. My younger brother and his friend bought this car with intentions of restoring it , then they moved out of state and sold it to me, as I had one like this as a kid and I have the ability to restore cars. My wife saw this car and said no way. I had already paid for it so It is now for sale. The buy it now is what I paid for it. The engine alone is worth that. I build torque converters and this one Is nice. The car has had rust in all of the usual places but the floor pans have patch panels have been replaced, as was the drivers lower quarter. Frame rails are good except drivers rear just before the bumper and the drip rail around the trunk is rotten as well as the tail panel needs replaced. Some small holes here and there in trunk floor and previous repairs on floor pan. top, doors and finders are very nice. It has a near perfect gril and nice bumpers. Trunk spoiler, honeycomb tail light panel and a real nice GT hood. The only parts missing are the windshield , and the rear seats. The front bench needs recovered. This is a real cool car that needs to be put back on the road. The original color was dark green. I can deliver in an inclosed trailer for a fee. Comes with new black carpet and headliner . Thanks Chris 314-359-9600

Ford Fiesta rally car warms up in Sweden
Tue, 18 Mar 2014Rallycross is seeing a sudden surge in popularity with two series bringing the racing to the US and Europe. The Ford OMSE team is competing in both championships this season, and it saw no reason not to hold practice with a highly modified Fiesta in the snow of Northern Sweden. It brought together Andreas Bakkerud from the European-focused FIA World Rallycross Championship and Patrik Sandell from the North American-focused Global Rallycross series for some training and fun. They certainly appear to be enjoying themselves, too, with some lovely pirouettes in the powder.
If you're unfamiliar with rallycross, the discipline combines the best of rallying and circuit racing. Drivers (with no co-drivers) race rally cars over a circuit that generally mixes dirt and asphalt, and unlike traditional rallying, multiple cars compete side-by-side at once. Even better, it's often a very two-fisted form of motorsports with lots of car-to-car contact. Global Rallycross and World Rallycross will both kick off their seasons in May. With spring on the way, scroll down to watch the Fiesta kick up some of the last snow drifts of the year.
Next SVT Mustang may axe Shelby name, go naturally aspirated
Mon, 10 Jun 2013Following our first glimpse at the 2015 Ford Mustang out on the road, the fine folks at Road and Track have divulged some details on what the Blue Oval's next pony might have in store. We've already seen that the car will get some very sleek, Evos-inspired design cues, and an independent rear suspension is indeed in store. These new details, however, concern the muscle car's beating heart.
For starters, the base Ford coupe is expected to carry on with V6 power, likely from the same 3.7-liter unit found in today's car. From there, R&T says the next step up will be a four-cylinder EcoBoost engine, likely displacing 2.3 liters, putting out as much as 350 horsepower. Of course, a Mustang wouldn't be a Mustang without V8 thrust, and R&T states that the 5.0-liter Coyote V8 will continue on into the 2015 car, making something like 450 horsepower.
But it's at the high end of the Mustang range where things will, reportedly, get very, very interesting. Road & Track claims that the top-shelf 'Stang will likely lose the supercharger from its engine, producing a metric crap-ton of naturally aspirated grunt instead. Additionally, the SVT-fettled Mustang will likely be dropping its Shelby moniker, in favor of "a name you're familiar with," according to the magazine (you know, like, Cobra).
Jaguar design boss admits X-Type was a mistake
Thu, 19 Sep 2013History has a way of repeating itself, especially in the auto industry. When Jaguar was owned by Ford, the British brand attempted to field a competitor for the BMW 3 Series, called the X-Type. Based on the bones of a Ford Mondeo, it aped the styling of Jaguar's flagship model, the XJ, while borrowing liberally from the Ford parts bin. That was 2001.
Now, in 2013, Jaguar is planning a new 3 Series challenger based on the platform previewed by the C-X17 Concept, while Ford is attempting to take the latest Mondeo upmarket. The moves have both brands recognizing where, why, and how the X-Type failed. "It didn't look mature or powerful or anything. It was just a car," Jaguar's current head of advanced design, Julian Thomson, told PistonHeads. Basing the X-Type on a front-drive car while giving it styling that was meant for a rear-driver lead to proportions that "were plainly wrong," Thomson told PH. Ford's European head of quality, Gunnar Herrmann, added that the X-Type was "a fake Jaguar, because every piece I touch is Ford."
For what it's worth, the X-Type's successor in the segment will sport rear-drive, with plenty of input from Ian Callum. Thomson described the new model, which would challenge the 3 Series as having, "Big wheels right to the ends of the car, low bonnet, short overhangs, very low cabins." Sounds good to us.
