Description
Driven Rods And Rides is proud to present this GORGEOUS - RARE - RESTORED - LOW ACTUAL - ORIGINAL MILEAGE - Code
"51A" - 1959 Ford Galaxie Sunliner Convertible !! As you can imagine these are getting EXTREMELY hard to find,
especially in this BEAUTIFUL - RESTORED condition and color combo. The 1959 Ford Galaxie was named the "Most
Beautifully Proportioned Car" in the world at the Brussels World Fair. It was a STUNNING body style in 1959 and
still is some 56 years later. This particular Skyliner is being sold out of an estate of an elderly, health
failing, personal family member who lovingly owned and meticulously maintained this BEAUTY for the last 6 years. As
you can clearly see in the pictures this was his pride and joy for sure! These cars were RARE because only 12,915
Skyliner Convertibles were built in 1959 and was the FIRST year of the Galaxie model name, and this is the year to
have. This car is a NICE - DRY - SOLID - showroom stored mid-western vehicle and man does it show! This car was
driven very rarely only to keep the cobwebs out and the juices flowing or to have it pre maturely maintenanced! It
still retains it's - FACTORY ORIGINAL - Ford driver's door pillar mounted data plate and it's - ORIGINAL - 1959
Ford owner's manual, both of which are shown pictures. If you can make it to St. Louis, Mo in the coming days
please come take a look at and drive this car for yourself !! THIS IS A QUALITY SHOW CAR FOR SURE and is an
absolute piece of art to witness in person.
This BEAUTY still retains its VERY STRONG !! - APPEARS ORIGINAL - OPTIONAL - CODE "B" - 332 CID "Thunderbird
Special" - Interceptor V8 motor ( 225 horsepower / 325 ft/lb of torque from the factory !! ) and it is running very
well indeed !! The motor still retains its ORIGINAL intake manifold, ORIGINAL exhaust manifolds, ORIGINAL "Ford"
scripted valve covers, ORIGINAL rebuilt carburetor and the ORIGINAL "Thunderbird Special Interceptor V8" scripted
air cleaner housing. The engine has less than 2K miles on it since it had a "down to the bare block" complete
rebuild. The engine is backed by a SMOOTH - Code "4" - "Cruise-O-Matic" - three speed automatic transmission which
also functions very well. The transmission also has less than 2K miles on it since it was completely rebuilt. She
Sounds GREAT too with the "throaty" true dual exhaust system with dual chrome tips. The BEAUTIFUL !! - Code "TE2" -
Geranium & Colonial White 2 Tone Paint With Geranium/Colonial White & Raven Black Pleated Galaxie Sunliner interior
is in excellent condition! The interior includes an excellent Geranium/Colonial White and Raven Black Pleated front
seat, nice original Galaxie steering wheel, excellent black raven carpeting, excellent matching Geranium/Colonial
White and Raven Black door panels, Excellent Geranium/Colonial White and Raven Black Pleated rear seat, VERY NICE
ORIGINAL factory gauge clusters, VERY NICE White vinyl sun visors, VERY NICE Matching Geranium dash, VERY NICE
Geranium POWER convertible top and a VERY NICE Matching Colonial White convertible top boot cover. The GORGEOUS -
Original Code "TE2" - Two Tone - Geranium and Colonial White exterior finish is EYE POPPING BEAUTIFUL! with really
little to no wear showing other than several small chips and is still bright and shiny and looks STUNNING as you
can clearly see in the 100 ADDITIONAL PICTURES. The BEAUTIFUL Geranium, Colonial White and Raven Black interior
with the matching Geranium and Colonial White exterior finish and matching Geranium convertible top is a BEAUTIFUL
color combination indeed! It doesn't get much prettier than this folks! This Classic Galaxie drop top Skyliner is a
great runner and a real nice looker.
This car is nicely equipped including optional factory power steering, factory wing windows, factory power electric
wipers, factory gauge clusters with 120 MPH speedometer, original Ford AM radio, original clock, factory power
convertible top, factory stainless steel fender skirts, and factory backup lights. This Vintage Galaxie Sunliner
Convertible has great looks and AWESOME 332 CID Interceptor V8 power to boot! There are not many of these left on
the roads for sure!
These vehicles have an appreciative group of owners any of which would be pleased to own this one. The suspension
and drive line all seem to be in good working order as well as the electrical system. Check out the AWESOME
FACTORY ORIGINAL Stainless Steel Ford "Turbine" wheel covers and the NEARLY NEW period correct bias ply wide
whitewall tires. Boy does this combination look AMAZING on this drop top Ford and really retains that clean,
"factory original" look !! The CLEAN - SOLID Trunk sports a VERY NICE ORIGINAL style White vinyl liner. All of the
light lenses and reflectors are clear, bright and in excellent condition. This vintage cruiser is a good
investment opportunity and it is priced right ! It is in BEAUTIFUL condition from top to bottom and from front to
back. It will not disappoint someone looking for a good example of a sought after and hard to find collector car
which is not seen at every stop light for sure. If you have been looking but cannot find a Classic Ford Galaxie
Sunliner worthy of your hard earned money look NO further because this is the one ! All of the chrome and stainless
steel exterior body trim and moldings are in excellent condition including both bumpers, excellent original
badging, and excellent grill and headlight surrounds. All of the black rubber weatherstripping is soft, supple and
in great condition. This vehicle is in nice mechanical condition and it runs and drives very well. It is solid with
respect to the overall mechanical condition as well as the overall cosmetic impression. The undercarriage is also
as nice and solid as the rest of this car!

2015 Ford Mustang revs it up at Cars & Coffee

Mon, 09 Dec 2013

Just because the new 2015 Ford Mustang has officially been released, you didn't think that would be the end of the matter - did you? Of course not. There'll still be plenty of rumors, reports and video footage to bring you. Like this, the first non-official footage of the new pony car in the wild.
Shot by YouTube user SotA1080 and dug up by our friends at CarBuzz, this clip shows the new Mustang posing for photos (alongside other Mustangs) and starting up its engine at the most recent gathering of Cars & Coffee in Irvine, CA. And this being the GT model, it's not packing the V6 or the turbo four, but the red-blooded 5.0-liter V8 that tells us and enthusiasts worldwide that the new Mustang has not lost its way. Scroll on down to watch the footage for yourself.

Ford Australia launches Falcon GT F 351, last of its line [w/video]

Sun, 15 Jun 2014

It's always best to go out with a bang rather than a whimper, and Ford Performance Vehicles is doing just that in Australia with the Falcon GT F 351. It's the most powerful road car the Aussie performance brand has ever made with a supercharged 5.0-liter V8 pumping out 471 horsepower (351 kilowatts) and 420 pound-feet of torque. It's joined by the FPV Pursuit Ute with the same powerplant tuned to 422 hp and 402 lb-ft. Sadly, the last F in this Falcon's name stands for Final.
The GT F 351 is a monumental way to go out, though. It harkens back to the old days of Aussie muscle Fords, and the 351kw output is meant to reference the classic Falcon GT and its 351-cubic-inch V8. In addition to the massive power, the F has the improved suspension from the R-Spec model and Brembo brake calipers.
FPV is building just 500 GT F sedans for Australia and 50 more for New Zealand, plus 120 Pursuit Utes. They feature a blacked-out hood and black stripes over the hood and sides, plus gloss black accents around the headlights, door handles and mirrors.

Ford paying $750 million just to close plant in Belgium

Thu, 21 Mar 2013

According to a report from Reuters, Ford is shelling out $750 million in a severance deal that will see the automaker close its facility in Genk, Belgium. The automaker reached this deal with the 4,000 hourly workers employed at the plant last week, which means the company will pay out an average of $187,500 per worker.
Ford is still negotiating with the 300 salaried workers at the factory, which currently produces the Mondeo sedan. All told, Ford expects to lose around $2 billion in Europe thanks in no small part to the region's ongoing economic downturn, and two more plants are scheduled to be shut down in Europe this year. The company will log its $750 million payout under "special items" for this quarter.
As you may recall, Ford took a similar path in the US back in 2009 when the domestic market took a spill. Back then, the company shelled out around $50,000 per employee with at least one year of experience, plus either $25,000 toward a new car or an extra cash payment of $20,000. It would seem the cost of closing plants in Belgium is a much harder pill to swallow than in the States...
