1989 Chrysler Lebaron Convertable No Reserve Out Of Storage For 7 Yrs Rust Free! on 2040-cars

Year:1989 Mileage:124680

Granny's car! This car was owned by an elderly relative of mine, it was parked in her garage seven years ago when she went into a nursing home. She has since passed, and her car is being sold to settle her estate. I have clear title in hand.

A new battery was installed,, and fresh gas put in the tank, and it started right away. It has been driven approx. 50 miles, and there is nothing at all wrong with the way it runs or drives. The engine is smooth and idles nicely.  It has plenty of performance, and does not smoke or knock at all.  A very well kept vehicle for 25 years old!  Have all the owners manuals and papers for the car. Does 70 mph with no problem.  This car still gets looks!  Very comfortable to drive-seats feel real good!  Has convertible top boot. Was garaged most of its life, and the interior and features prove it. Was also dealer maintained, and never abused or driven hard.

The good> no rust Anywhere-and I do mean NO RUST.  We put it on a lift, and the attendant was amazed at just how clean the undercarriage was. Southern car, never seen snow or ice. No noticeable dents. Interior is almost like new. No splits, tears or defects on seats. Carpets are wear-free. Door panels are in great shape, but paint is chipping off on the drivers side handle area inside. Almost new tires, good exhaust, top is in good shape, does not leak and goes up and down flawlessly. Solid car, never wrecked to my knowledge. Can be driven away and to anywhere. Power top fits well, doors open and close solidly. Straight seams on body panels. Great brakes-high pedal, COLD air conditioning! I can honestly say this is a super-clean car with very little wear, no rust, and solid shape.

The bad> rear window behind passenger window sometimes does not work and go down all the way. Paint is solid and not faded, but needs a good buffing.  Side molding trim that was chromed is starting to peel, and will need attention. Radio works, hard to tune. Trip meter sometimes does not work if reset button pushed too hard. Small things, but I try to list as honestly as possible. Nothing seriously wrong with this car.

The last photo in the series shows what it looked like when it was backed out of the garage after being stored for seven years.

You will definitely not regret the purchase of this fine automobile in fantastic shape for its age. It is fun to drive, economical, and you will get lots of compliments and looks!

Sold at NO RESERVE-last bid gets it!

Vehicle is also listed for sale locally.

Chrysler shows creative side with employee art exhibit

Wed, 27 Nov 2013

The United Auto Workers and Chrysler recently sponsored 92 works of art created by 50 of the automaker's unionized and salaried employees for the 2013-14 Artists at Work Exhibition, the ninth such show, which recognizes the creative process required to make art and manufacture vehicles. Chrysler says the event is "the country's only juried art show sponsored by a major corporation and a labor union." Unfortunately, the exhibit is not open to the public, but we have images to share of the winning pieces as well as other interesting exhibits in the gallery above.
"Art and manufacturing have more in common than you might think," says Keith Mickens, Chrysler-UAW National Training Center co-director from the UAW. "The creative process involved in producing a memorable image on a canvas can be used to help build quality vehicles on an assembly line."
A diverse range of art forms are showcased, from metal sculptures to ceramics to photography to paintings and more. Four Detroit-area professional artists narrowed down over 600 submissions to the 92 works of art that were shown at the exhibit, then awarded "Best of Show" prizes to three employees for their work (the first three images in our gallery) and selected 11 employees for honorable mentions. The overall winner is the sculpture above by Joseph Aiuto, titled "Childhood Anxiety."

Five automakers now being investigated by NHTSA for airbag woes

Thu, 12 Jun 2014

It appears that Toyota's renotification to owners of recalled vehicles from last year is just the tip of the iceberg for what could potentially be a much larger industry-wide recall. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is opening a preliminary evaluation investigation into roughly 1.1 million vehicles from Chrysler, Honda, Mazda, Nissan, Toyota and parts supplier Takata regarding faulty airbag inflators in several models.
NHTSA has received six reports - three directly, two from Takata and one from Toyota - of vehicles with ruptured airbag inflators from 2002-2006, which resulted in three injuries. So far, all six incidents have occurred in high humidity areas like Florida and Puerto Rico. According to Toyota's latest recall announcement, the inflators may have an improper propellant that could cause it to rupture in a crash and the bag to deploy abnormally.
This new investigation follows a previous recall from April 2013 of about 3.4 million vehicles worldwide for the airbag inflators from Takata. As Autoblog reported, Toyota jumpstarted the new situation when it found that the original list of serial numbers for the faulty part was incomplete and discovered more cars in need of replacement. Honda and Nissan told us that they were investigating whether further models would need called in again as well. Mazda told Autoblog: "Regarding the current Takata situation, we're working closely with NHTSA and investigating the situation, but nothing else to report at this time." Chrysler Group responded to us with the statement: "Chrysler Group engineers are conducting the appropriate analysis. The Company will cooperate fully with the National Highway Traffic Administration."

How fracking is causing Chrysler minivans to sit on Detroit's riverfront

Fri, 25 Apr 2014

It's fascinating the way that one change to a complex system can have all sorts of unintended consequences. For instance, there are hundreds of new Chrysler Town and County and Dodge Grand Caravan minivans built in Windsor, Ontario, sitting in lots on the Detroit waterfront because of the energy boom in the Bakken oil field in the northern US and parts of Canada.
The huge amount of crude oil coming from these sites mostly use freight trains for transport, and that supply boom has resulted in a shortage of railcars to carry other goods. According to The Windsor Star, North American crude oil transport by train has gone from 9,500 carloads in 2008 to 434,032 carloads in 2013. Making matters worse, some North American rail infrastructure is still damaged because of this year's harsh winter, and that's slowing things down even further.
Chrysler admits to The Star that it has had some delivery delays due to the freight train shortage. In the meantime, it's using more trucks to deliver its vehicles. Trucking is a far less economical solution, partially because a train can carry so many more units at one time, but alternatives are slim. The Windsor plant alone has a deal for 33 trucks to distribute the minivans around Canada and the Midwestern US.
