RUNNING, DRIVING CAR THAT WILL MAKE A NICE RESTORATION OR COOL COOL CUSTOM.  I TOOK THIS CAR IN ON TRADE FOR A CORVETTE, BUT I DON'T HAVE TIME TO BUILD IT.

IT HAS THE BIG CHRYSLER 413 ENGINE WITH PLENTY OF POWER TO HAUL THIS CAR AROUND.  THE ENGINE STARTS EASILY, RUNS SMOOTH AND DOES NOT SMOKE.  THE PUSH BUTTON TORQUE FLIGHT AUTOMATIC SHIFTS SMOOTHLY.  ALL POWER WINDOWS WORK.  BRAND NEW TIRES MOUNTED ON CUSTOM WHEELS.

BODY IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION WITH ONLY A SLIGHT GOLF BALL SIZE DENT IN THE DRIVER'S DOOR.  THERE IS NO RUST ON THE BODY OR FLOORS. ORIGINAL SILVER/BLUE METALLIC PAINT HAS FADED TO SILVER.  INSIDE THE TRUNK LID YOU CAN SEE THE ORIGINAL COLOR AND NO RUST.

INTERIOR IS COMPLETE BUT WORN OUT.  NO FRONT CARPET, BUT AS THE PICTURES SHOW, THERE IS NO RUST ON THE FLOORS.

GREAT STYLING WITH THE PEDESTAL MOUNTED HEADLIGHTS, ROCKET TAIL LIGHTS, PANCAKE HOOD, PUSH BUTTON SHIFTING AND OVAL STEERING WHEEL.  TORSION BAR SUSPENSION MAKES THIS CAR EASY TO LOWER FOR A BIG SLED CRUISER.

I HAVE NOT HAD THIS CAR LONG AND DO NOT KNOW EVERYTHING ABOUT IT.  PLEASE CONTACT ME WITH QUESTIONS, AND I WILL RESEARCH AND GET BACK TO YOU.

I DO HAVE THE CAR LISTED FOR SALE LOCALLY AND RESERVE THE RIGHT TO REMOVE IT FROM AUCTION AT ANY TIME.

Did a US automaker blow the whistle on Hyundai, Kia fuel economy issue?

Mon, 17 Dec 2012

In all of the most hotly contested mainstream segments of the motoring universe, the difference of one mile per gallon averaged on a widow sticker can mean the difference between a sale and a walk-off - to say nothing of two or three mpg. So, when Hyundai and Kia were forced to reveal that many of their 40-mpg ratings were actually 38s and 37s, well, it made for big news.
It also, conceivably, made for a competitive disadvantage immediately, when the Korean automakers' products were being shopped versus the guys down the block. And it's that disadvantage that makes a recent story from Automotive News so juicy.
AN is reporting that Margo Oge, former head of the Environmental Protection Agency's Office of Transportation and Air Quality, got a tip in 2010 that Hyundai/Kia were "cheating" to get its impressive fuel economy numbers. The tip, said Oge (who retired from the EPA this past September), came from a senior vice president from a domestic automaker. The source was credible enough for Oge to launch an audit of the Hyundai figures, which ultimately lead to the debacle that we reported on a few months ago, and that the Korean company has been trying to bounce back from ever since.

2015 Chrysler 200 production gets underway [w/videos]

Mon, 17 Mar 2014

Chrysler announced recently that it has added some 800 new jobs at its Sterling Heights Assembly Plant (SHAP) to support the production of its all-new 2015 Chrysler 200 sedan. Total employment at the Sterling Heights, MI plant grows to almost 2,800 with the hires, an impressive figure for a plant that was slated for closure in 2010.
Speaking to a crowd of employees and community leaders, Fiat-Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne was on hand to celebrate the kick-off of 200 production last week. "We're making a big bet on its success," said Marchionne of the sedan, "we've invested nearly a billion dollars in this facility."
That billion-dollar bill has been used to construct a spanking new paint shop, install a new body shop and install "machinery, tooling and material-handling equipment" according to the Chrysler press release. The company says that SHAP now runs to nearly five million square feet of manufacturing space - loads of room for all the new employees to do their thing - and that the facility can handle multiple vehicles on two unique architectures.

Long winter means most automakers won't curb summer shutdown

Sun, 18 May 2014

A lot more happened during this latest brutal winter than days of snow and Netflix binges. Automotive sales took a battering. After all, going out car shopping when it's eleventy-billion degrees below zero isn't a good time.
Because of this Old Man Winter-induced sales slump, inventories are abnormally high as we head into the summer car buying season. That's led some analysts to predict that automakers will be more inclined to idle factories this summer, in a bid to trim some of the built-up inventory. Traditionally, American manufacturers offer up a two-week break in the middle of summer, although the burgeoning sales of the past few years have seen this practice become less popular.
"We're likely not going to see an acceleration this year," Jeff Schuster, a senior vice president at LMC Automotive, told The Detroit News. "We'll see production increases in 'pockets' but I don't know if it will be as widespread as in recent years."
