Up for auction is my 1967 Chevy C30 1 ton dually flatbed stakeside. The truck is an amazing survivor that is rather straight. The cab exterior is flat white where I touched up the original chalky patina paint. The interior is patina blue with the exception of any parts I replaced are now black. The truck has a 327 and 4 speed that runs great. The 327 runs well, runs cool and doesn't leak a drop. The 4 speed shifts like a school bus due to its ridiculously low gears. Every once in a blue moon, the release bearing would make a growl noise. I had bought an entire new clutch kit with bearings in the event it ever let go. I've driven the truck frequently for over a year and the release bearing has never been an issue. The clutch kit goes with the truck upon final sale and it is a heavy duty kit. I don't anticipate you will need it either but it is a good safety net. The rearend is geared so low that I often use 2nd gear starting out. The satin black bed is a 12 foot flatbed with a stakeside wall. The walls can be removed or you can attach the 2 foot extensions I have for them. I also have a cattle door for the very back of the truck. I've used this truck to advertise my business and fetch parts for the last year. It has served me well and never left me stranded. Things that operate slowly or not as they should drive me nuts and for this reason I replaced the windshield wiper motor, LED dash lights, LED tail lights, LED flasher. I also replaced the thermostat, temp gauge, temp sending unit, air filter, dash pad, sun visors, seat, tinted the windows, replaced the 16.5 factory wheels and tires with 16" Moto Metal chrome wheels with Yokohama Geolander ATS 235/85/16 tires. I bought the wheels and tires in April of this year. The tires are 8 or ten ply. They are load range "E" if that helps.  There probably plenty of things that I am forgetting so if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask. $250 non refundable deposit via paypal due upon auction close. Balance is due within 10 days and the truck is to be picked up in Hayden Idaho 83835. I can help accommodate whomever you choose for shipping but balance must be paid in full and cleared first. Thanks for looking.

Tarantino's stolen Chevy Malibu from Pulp Fiction recovered after 19 years [w/video]

Mon, 29 Apr 2013

Quentin Tarantino fans will likely remember Vincent Vega's cherry 1964 Chevrolet Malibu Convertible in Pulp Fiction. In a movie drenched in automotive references, the Malibu is very nearly a character in and of itself, and it serves as the subject of Vega's soliloquy about the kind of man who vandalizes another's automobile. It also happened to be Tarantino's personal car when the film was shot, and was apparently stolen shortly after production wrapped. Now police have located the car some 19 years later.
As it turns out, the thieves cloned the vehicle identification number from another '64 Malibu and had the car registered under the new digits. It was then sold to an unsuspecting buyer. Police happened upon the duplicate VINs while investigating another potential theft. Right now, it's unclear whether Tarantino has taken possession of the Chevrolet, if it has remained in the possession of the fraud victim, or whether it's caught somewhere in the gears of justice. Either way, you can catch Vega's memorable thoughts on the car keying in the Pulp Fiction clip below. But consider yourself warned: the video contains explicit language as Not Safe For Work as it comes.

2014 Chevrolet SS makes its live debut

Sat, 16 Feb 2013

Chevrolet showed off the new 2014 SS in an airport hangar last night, its first rear-wheel-drive performance sedan in the US since the Impala SS from 1997. We'll have more to say about the SS later today, but this is the sedan that Chevrolet sees as the final piece in restoring its performance credentials. For those of you looking for a manual transmission, however, that wish will go unfulfilled - at least for now: the only two options buyers will have are the color and whether or not they want a sunroof.
We'll work on getting some more angles (in better light) today at Daytona International Speedway, but with fans seeing the car for the first time, we don't hold out much luck of getting a clear shot. So for now, enjoy the high-res gallery above.

GM profits threatened by glut of pickups

Wed, 05 Dec 2012

Automotive News reports that General Motors may slash production or ramp up discounts in order to deal with an oversupply of pickup trucks. GM currently has more than double the standard supply of pickups, and the vehicles are threatening to dampen the automaker's profits for 2013. Typically, automakers try to sustain a 60- to 75-day supply of vehicles, but GM is currently loaded with a 139-day supply, as of last month. At the end of November, the automaker was sitting on 245,853 units.
The manufacturer says that it will adjust production accordingly before laying any incentives on the profitable pickups. Even so, there's some concern that the inventory swell could hurt the roll-out of the next-generation Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra. GM actually began slowly stepping back production in August, but it's clear the company will take further action as it heads toward the end of the year and into the next. Analysts predict the automaker could reduce pickup manufacturing by nearly half in the first quarter of 2013.
That still may not be enough to keep GM from laying extra cash on the Silverado and GMC Sierra. While the company's incentive spending was down in November compared to the same month in 2011, both the Ram 1500 and Ford F-150 saw double-digit percentage increases in sales last month while the Silverado and Sierra numbers slid compared to a year prior. Incentive spending could help move more trucks and add some balance to the GM inventory surge.
