1958 Chevrolet 3600 Napco 4x4 (factory) on 2040-cars
Cocoa, Florida, United States
Up for auction is a one family owned 1958 original factory Napco 4x4 Chevrolet Apache 3600 pickup truck from Zephyrhills, FL. The title was last issued 12/26/85 by the original owners son. title is open and signed, its garage kept & only driven around my farm. I have the original 1958 truck owners manual, in it is written key # 8921on inside cover & 4 oil changes on the back cover, 1234,3634,6600 & 9800 miles the 2nd oil change dates 6/13/59 the 3rd oil change was 7/9/59. The speedo reads 30315.1 copy & paste link to watch YouTube video http://youtu.be/pHk9oKfjcaY
The truck also comes with the free lock wrench for the locking hubs, (I have not see one of these before). also on the steering column is the optional flashlight holder, but i don't have the flashlight. The motor runs great & truck has reverse & all 4 forward gears. the stance on this truck massive for stock & gets lots of looks where ever it goes. The tires have lots of tread but have dry rot. There is rust but the truck is solid, the lower fenders by the door seem to be the worst. running boards are solid but have some rust. The truck frame is very good and not cut up. Please see pictures. door glass could be replaced, windshield & back glass are not cracked. I believe overall the truck is great, I planned to restore it to original but have lost interest time & money. This would be a great one family titled Napco candidate for a ground up restoration or just drive it like it is. many things have been replaced to make it run, drive & ride better as you will be able to see from the pictures. Truck is sold with out warranty & you are responsible for any fees or taxes for your state. Truck can be viewed if requested. & may be listed locally & if sold auction may end early. I can help load if being shipped & can help with arrangements. It will be garage stored while shipping gets worked out and truck is fully paid for. a $500.00 deposit is required in 24 hours & paid in full in 5 days On Sep-14-14 at 14:08:38 PDT, seller added the following information: the low reserve was met so this truck will sell. The blue truck is not for sale & for reference of the Napco's stance. |

Watch how Corvette Racing's new collision-avoidance radar system works
Fri, 22 Mar 2013When it comes to technology used in racecars, we generally expect it to trickle down to production cars, not the other way around. Well, Pratt & Miller has developed a new rear-facing radar that operates in a similar fashion to what we're used to in modern blind spot detection systems, only it is also capable of tracking cars as they approach and relaying vital information to the driver via a large display screen.
The innovative radar system debuted at last weekend's 12 Hours of Sebring for Corvette Racing, and this system makes perfect sense for endurance races like this since the cars sometimes have to drive through the night and in poor weather conditions.
The radar can detect cars even with poor visibility, and uses easy-to-distinguish symbols for the driver to identify.
Watch NASCAR racer Jeff Gordon put one over on a used car dealer... sorta
Wed, 13 Mar 2013Full Disclosure: in my younger days, I loved nothing more than tormenting passengers with my behind-the-wheel hijinks. Once, after a particularly artful handbrake turn on a two-lane at around 50 miles per hour, I left one backseat occupant crying in their own lap. This isn't necessarily something to be proud of, but it gives you a glimpse into why it is that I find this ad from Pepsi so damn disappointing. The premise is beautiful. Take NASCAR legend Jeff Gordon, give him a disguise and set him loose upon some unsuspecting used car dealer. Hilarity ensues.
Except that this Pepsi Max commercial is so obviously staged, it can't help but feel like some ham-fisted marketing fail. From the strategically placed aftermarket cupholder mounted mid-dash for the hidden camera to the fact that the supposed dealer Camaro is displayed as a 2009 model (Hint: Chevrolet didn't make any), this clip is about as organic as a Twinkie. Still, we would never turn down a chance to watch Gordon thrash on a rental-spec coupe - only problem is, he probably didn't even do the driving himself. Check it out below.
Ford, Toyota clean up in Best Car For The Money Awards
Fri, 22 Feb 2013The U.S. News Best Cars for the Money Awards picks winners by looking at the average transaction price, five-year total cost of ownership, the regard a car has from the automotive press, reliability figures from J.D. Power and Associates and safety data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. The result, according to the magazine, is "the best combination of critical acclaim and long-term value."
Ford nabbed six of the 21 categories that received awards this year, the Focus, Fusion, Fusion Hybrid, Taurus, Escape and Edge getting trophies. Toyota and its Lexus and Scion sub-brands took another five, the Tacoma and Tundra owning the two categories given to pickup trucks. The other ten awards were split between Honda with three, Buick with two, and one each for Subaru, BMW, Hyundai, Chevrolet and Mazda.
