1964 Chevrolet El Camino:

This car is in great overall shape.  It is an older restoration.  The motor runs well.  The numbers decode as

a 283 engine of the same vintage as the car.  The heads are 327-300 HP heads.  I took the valve covers off to ensure

this.  It has an aluminum aftermarket intake and recently installed Edelbrock carb.   The engine has a good "lobe"

to it; sounds like a mild cam.  Nothing radical.

The car runs, drives and steers fine.  The brakes are the original drum type but stop very well.  The paint is older

with some chipping and blemishes but very presentable.  This is a great driver car; not a show car.

I will cancel out any bids that do not have at least 5 positive feedbacks.

The interior is in very good shape with what appears to be 66/7 Chevelle bucket seats.  The shift was originally on the

column and appears to be automatic.  The four speed is tight and shifts well.

This car is very solid.  No visible rust at all  The underside looks to be very solid also.  This is a southern car that has

not been in much salt.  The tail gate and bed are very solid; again, no rust visible.  The quarters are solid.  The tail

gate works well.

The engine does not smoke and starts up well in the morning.  There is a scrape from the windshield wiper on the windshield.

This is a great driver or a start for a show car.  It gets a lot of looks.  There are not many of these out there anymore.

We are located near the VA/Tenn state line about 9 miles off of I-81 in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains.

I have very positive 100% feedback but I am an older Ebay member with not much recent history.

Good Luck bidding.  This is a nice car and a good value for someone.

Next Corvette ZR1 to get 700 horsepower?

Tue, 19 Feb 2013

Word has it General Motors may offer as much as 700 horsepower in the C7 Corvette ZR1. Motor Trend reports the next Corvette Z06 will continue to rely on its naturally aspirated 7.0-liter V8 engine for thrust, but the lump will deliver substantially more power. How much more? MT says the engine could deliver up to 600 ponies. That's a jump of 95 horsepower over the current Z06, though no figures have been finalized as of yet. Right now, GM is reportedly waiting to see what sort of grunt it can glean from the next ZR1.
The automaker has already made it clear it will resurrect the LT5 name for the new supercharged V8, and if GM is already pulling 600 from the Z06, the big dog ZR1 would theoretically offer 700 horsepower. Either way, the range-topping Corvette will be suitably insulated from its less potent siblings. Stay tuned. We aren't likely to see the Z06 for at least a year, with the ZR1 trailing along at some point there after.

Artist imagines eerie world where cars have no wheels

Thu, 24 Jan 2013

The wheel ranks right up there with the telescope and four-slice toaster in the pantheon of inventions that have moved humankind forward. But what if a circle in three dimensions had never occurred to anyone, and we all had just moved on without it? Perhaps we'd be driving around in Lucas Motors Landspeeders with anti-gravity engines. Or maybe we'd have the same cars we do today, just without wheels.
That's the thought experiment that seems to have led French photographer Renaud Marion to create his six-image series called Air Drive. The shots depict cars throughout many eras of motoring that look normal except for one thing: they have no wheels. The models used include a Jaguar XK120, Cadillac DeVille (shown above), Chevrolet El Camino and Camaro, and Mercedes-Benz SL and 300 roadsters.
Perhaps one day when our future becomes our past, you'll be able to walk the street and see with your own eyes the rust and patina of age on our nation's fleet of floating cars. Until then, Monsieur Marion's photographs will have to do.

Corvette Stingray Shooting Brake under consideration by Callaway [w/poll]

Mon, 18 Mar 2013

Callaway has released a few renderings of a design study for a shooting brake version of the C7 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray. The company says it wants to create a long-roof version of America's sports car to offer buyers more interior room and a vehicle with "unique style." The company says it will use structural carbon fiber for the new body bits, which suggests the conversion shouldn't add too much more weight to the Corvette. Along with a few mechanical tweaks, the Callaway Corvette Stingray AeroWagon could breeze past the 200 miles per hour barrier.
Provided that they get enough interest, Callaway estimates they will be able to effect the changes on the Chevrolet for around $15,000, and says the conversion work should be available through its network of dealers. You can check out the brief press release below for more information, or head over to the Callaway site to plunk down a deposit - but before you do, we want to know... do you find this C7 wagon interesting?
