This is one super nice 1971 C-10 that is show and go.

Drivetrain:
The motor is an LT1 from a corvette.  It runs flawlessly.  The trans is a 700r4 that shifts smooth and is set up perfect.  The rear is a 12 bolt with a 3.42 gear and a locker.  You can cruise at 60 while turning 1700 RPM’s.

Body and Paint:
The body is straight and the paint is slick.  I would call it a solid 9 out of 10. It gets a lot of attention at any show I take it to.  It is really glassy looking.  The under hood is finished out nice as well.  From the radiator close out panels to the polished pulleys it shows there was a lot of time spent making it nice.

Interior:
The interior in this truck is very well done.  The seat is out of an early 90’s chevy truck and recovered in red ultra-leather.  The whole cab has been insulated.  The door panels are covered to match the seat.  There is a custom stereo and a Dakota Digital gauge cluster.  It also has a Billet Specialties steering wheel.

Accessories:
It’s hard to know where to start with all extras this truck has.  All of the creature comforts you’d want in a new truck are all there.  It has power steering, power brakes (disc in front), power windows, and air conditioning.

Chassis:
The truck has 4 corner air ride with 2 tanks and electric solenoids. It has Strong Arm tubular control arms and a 3” C notch in the rear.

Wheels:
You will see in the pics there are 2 sets of wheels used to show the truck.  This auction is for the Billet Specialties SLD89’s.  They are 20” in the front and 22” in the rear.  If you prefer the coys I will take $2000 off of the price, as long as the reserve is hit.  The coys are 20” all the way around.

This truck is ready to drive across country or drive out to a car show and do well there.  It has won many awards this year when I have shown it.  It is not absolutely perfect but it is way above average.  It wasn’t built to be cheap and it’s not being sold cheap.  With that in mind you cannot build it for what the reserve is!

2014 Chevrolet Impala [w/video]

Can A Fleet Queen Become a Fullsize King?
On paper, the Chevrolet Impala is a pretty strong seller, posting annual sales that have hovered right around 170,000 units for the last two years, but it only takes one trip to practically any rental car agency to discover where the majority of those sales have come from. In fact, General Motors told Autoblog that a full 70 percent of Impala sales last year went to fleet companies for things like rental cars and government vehicles. Logic tells us that this is neither good for resale values nor name equity, so Chevrolet is getting ready to roll out an all-new Impala with improved comfort, styling and technology, hoping to turn the tables on its retail-to-fleet ratio.
Chevrolet's sedans have come on quite strong in the last few months with the introduction of the Cruze diesel and the SS sedan, but while these will likely be low-volume sellers, there's more pressure for the new Impala to perform well as GM looks to slash fleet sales and compete with the wide variety of full-size sub-luxury sedans. Riding on a platform shared with the Buick LaCrosse and Cadillac XTS, the 2014 Impala will compete against the Hyundai Azera, Ford Taurus and Toyota Avalon on the more traditional side, while also looking to take a bite out of somewhat sportier models like the Chrysler 300/Dodge Charger twins and the Nissan Maxima. We headed to sunny San Diego to see if this totally new Impala can stand on its own without the assistance of fleet companies and rental agencies. [w/video

Chevy to show redesigned Captiva in Geneva, will it come to US rental lots?

Wed, 27 Feb 2013

Unless you're renting a car or driving through Orlando, Florida (the rental car capital of the US), you'll probably never see a Chevrolet Captiva - the rebadged, fleet-only version of the old Saturn Vue - on our roads, but this crossover is popular in many other parts of the world. As such, Chevrolet announced that the Captiva will be getting an update for 2013, which will be unveiled next week at the Geneva Motor Show.
Coming off a pretty extensive refresh in 2011, the 2013 model year will bring even more changes to the Captiva like LED taillights, new 18-inch wheels and revised fascias with a new grille and fog lights up front and inset chrome exhaust outlets at the rear. New interior features include heated rear seats, dual-zone climate control as well as available options on some of the upper trim levels such as leather seating and keyless entry and start. We have yet to hear back from Chevrolet as to whether or not the updated Captiva will be making its way to a rental lot near you, as the model is only available in the US to fleet buyers.
Alongside the updated Captiva, Chevy is also showing off its new Trax in Europe, where the subcompact crossover will go on sale this spring. GM's press release for these two Geneva-bound models is posted below.

GM profits threatened by glut of pickups

Wed, 05 Dec 2012

Automotive News reports that General Motors may slash production or ramp up discounts in order to deal with an oversupply of pickup trucks. GM currently has more than double the standard supply of pickups, and the vehicles are threatening to dampen the automaker's profits for 2013. Typically, automakers try to sustain a 60- to 75-day supply of vehicles, but GM is currently loaded with a 139-day supply, as of last month. At the end of November, the automaker was sitting on 245,853 units.
The manufacturer says that it will adjust production accordingly before laying any incentives on the profitable pickups. Even so, there's some concern that the inventory swell could hurt the roll-out of the next-generation Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra. GM actually began slowly stepping back production in August, but it's clear the company will take further action as it heads toward the end of the year and into the next. Analysts predict the automaker could reduce pickup manufacturing by nearly half in the first quarter of 2013.
That still may not be enough to keep GM from laying extra cash on the Silverado and GMC Sierra. While the company's incentive spending was down in November compared to the same month in 2011, both the Ram 1500 and Ford F-150 saw double-digit percentage increases in sales last month while the Silverado and Sierra numbers slid compared to a year prior. Incentive spending could help move more trucks and add some balance to the GM inventory surge.
