1993 Nissan 240 SX Cconvertible SE
If you ever wanted to own a rare convertible, this is
the one you want to own. What recommends it?

One owner 1993 Nissan 240 SX convertible SE, a lifetime resident of southern California car with just over 55,000 miles on her. Title issued in March of 1993 in the name of current registered owners (husband and wife) back that up. Unfortunately the husband has passed away and the wife offered to sell the car to me and I was pleased to have it. That having been said, the vanity plate seen in the rear, will not accompany the sale but will be returned to the family.

This car was pampered and driven sparingly and is in almost perfect condition. All original parts are there with the exception of the original radio which was professionally removed and replaced with a high quality Sony am-fm cd deck and the hood which was replaced after an incident with a falling tree branch. Repainted inside and out and all factory decals transferred. Not a ding or scratch to be found on the painted surfaces. The interior is very tidy but does show a spot or two to be noticed on the carpet which will be addressed in the morning and corrected. The color may not have registered exactly in all the photos but rest assures it is deep Aztec red. The driver’s seat does show a crease, not torn, that probably can be stretched out with minimal effort. No stains are there beyond those mentioned. Windshield has an almost invisible spider crack no more than 1/2 ” in size which shows evidence of having been repaired professionally. A non issue really but just thought I’d mention it.

The basics:

Starts quickly without assistance and runs nearly like new although I don’t know just how new condition would differ from the feel you have driving this beauty.

Everything works down to the cigar lighter which was never used by the non smoking owner. I found it tucked away in the lighted trunk with the unused mini spare tire, full tool and jack set. Tires are like new. The paperwork accompanying the car speaks of a remote trunk release module which I will investigate tomorrow and further comment on.

All the dash gauges work as they did when this car was shipped from the factory. Lighting for the signals, emergency flasher, trunk and interior courtesy lighting all work. All of the power electric windows go up and down easily with the exception of the passenger rear window which prefers the engine running to make it’s way up fully. The power canvas cloth top looks almost new, no discoloration to speak of, all threads in place without any loose seams. A switch sends it up very surely and tucks it into its cubby and then back up again without hesitation. This car, as you can see from the pictures, has the original factory top boot cover and the convertible owner’s supplement will guide you in how to most quickly attach it as well as other advice about the storage of the boot in its own dedicated boot storage bag. The guide also demonstrates the proper method to adapt the vehicle’s safety belts and child seat installation. The original rear window is surprisingly clear for its age just another indicator of how well this car has been taken care of.

Engine is as you would expect after only 55,000 miles and the odometer ticked up the miles I drove it over the last few weeks authenticating the low mileage it shows. Tach accurately shows the engine speed and all warning lights are functional as is the check engine light which only illuminates for the initial few seconds as a bulb check. Coolant gauge is mostly below half way even on a hot day with the A/C keeping the cabin cool in summer heat. In cold climates, the heater quickly clears the glass and properly heats the cabin. Gas gauge reads truly.

The fully automatic overdrive transmission shifts as it should and it’s fluid is ruby red. Cruise control is functional if desired. This car exhibits a great deal of power for a 2.4 Litre power plant and accelerates with vigor.

Fitted with cruise control on the steering wheel and its operation is outlined in the included owner’s manual just one of several books included with the sale as well as the receipts for regular maintenance and service work.

Yes, the car is equipped with a sophisticated Derringer 2 alarm system which I can attest is fully operational to keep the baddies at bay. Several sets of keys and Derringer remotes are also included, along with a manual covering its deployment. This car also comes with the custom made car cover especially made to fit the car like a glove and a Nissan front mask to prevent road chip damage. Absolutely necessary to keep it looking its best! Ok, I’m going to stop now but will probably be adding more observations as the auction progresses and am always happy to send pictures of interest to you at your request. And I will be adding more pictures of the underside of the car as well.

Now, just a note. Vehicle is for sale locally so you might see it disappear before the end of the auction and although I will not divulge the reserve, I will always entertain a fair offer from a friendly, communicative Ebayer. Please, if you don’t intend to engage in a pleasant transaction, find another car to buy. All communication concerning the sale of this car should be in accordance with Ebay policies and practices. Clean California title in hand free and clear and a valid smog check certificate will be obtained for a California based owner. I further encourage you to make an appointment to see the vehicle in person and have a look underneath by appointment. Bring your mechanic, bring your spouse for a good look see.

Payment of the Pay Pal deposit is NON REFUNDABLE should you change your mood. Please have your financing in order prior to bidding. Please have the balance available at pickup or within 7 days if via a bank to bank wire transfer or other mutually agreed to options other than Pay Pal. Questions? Please use the Ebay messaging system to exchange. Time to ask is before the bid is placed. Having no doubt that a cross country trip is possible without incident, I will arrange with a winning bidder the option of being picked up at a local airport or other transportation hub, and delivered to the car where arrangements will be finalized. I can store the car for a reasonable amount of time in order to make shipping arrangements if you need to and a bid equal to the Buy It Now will get it transported safely to the shipper of your choice, in the Los Angeles area, at my expense. Good luck bidding on this rare make and model which I doubt could have been better cared for. Summer is coming to those of us lucky enough to enjoy the top down Sunday drive up the coast highway here in California. Thank you.
