This is virtually a one owner car purchased in June of 53 by a gentleman from a dealer. I have a copy of the title with the original title date on it. The owner was in his mid 80's and hasn't used the car over the years except to run it occasionally and keep it loose. Actually, the last oil change tag as shown in the photos is dated 1980 with 48421mi. Today the mileage is 48569.
Car was always garaged and maintained regularly. I took the car from his garage where it was sitting for many years. Car starts and runs and shifts well. I replaced the plugs, cleaned the points and repaired a leaky carb. Have original air cleaner and another set of smaller ones. Lights work, but the turn signals only light up and do not flash ( haven't look into that yet ). Horn and heater blower work and the car has a perfect steering wheel. All gauges seem to work fine although there is no fuel gauge. The interior is in unbelievable condition including door panels, kick panels, dash, side curtain cubby, and seats looking almost new. Carpet is in excellent condition as well as Keyy radials with excellent tread. Car has original engine crank, jack, tire iron and jack crank. Windshield is clean with no scratches.
The top is vinyl and is in excellent condition and has a really clear rear window, however the sides of the top have lift the dot fasteners but the body has snaps ( probably for the tonneau that is included ). Side curtains are in good shape with clear windows, see photo.
The body is in excellent shape having only one small rust spot behind the driver door. The car was painted one time in the late 70's and has been chipping/flaking for years according to the owner. There are a few spots where the paint chipped to the bear metal. There are a few scrapes on the paint, but overall, the car is excellent for a 52 year old car. I didn't want to mask anything for the new owner and really want show the car in the amazing condition that I found it. Only surface rust under the car with solid frame. Wood floors are in exceptional condition. The grille is in excellent original condition. I can answer any questions by calling 814-931-0627 and reserve the right to cancel the auction as the car is listed for sale locally.
If you are looking for a MGTD this is one original that won't disappoint you. You can drive it as is while you restore and or tinker, or it'll make a great restoration project.
