CADILLAC ELDORADO CONVERTIBLE...ONE OF THE MOST ENDURING CLASSIC AMERICAN AUTOMOTIVE ICONS!
BACKGROUND...previously owned by two Georgia physicians, the Eldorado has been a bit of a "celebrity" around the Athens campus of the University of Georgia where it has been seen at many events over the years.
CELEBRITY ORAL HISTORY (undocumented)...is that in addition to many prominent UGA events, the car was featured as the Grand Marshall vehicle at a prominent "500" race and that Tatum and/or Ryan O'Neal rode in the car at that event. Tatum O'Neal received the academy award's Oscar in 1974 for her starring role opposite her father in Paper Moon... so she was certainly in the media spotlight in the 1974/1975 time-frame, which squares perfectly with this Eldorado being brand-new at the time.
LOCATION: The car is located in Alpharetta, GA...a suburb of Atlanta, GA.
DRIVE REPORT & GENERAL CONDITION...the car is a very nice boulevard cruiser. It is perfect for lovely rides in the country and local car shows...where it receives admiring glances wherever it goes. The top is brand new and cost $1200. It powers up and down...but usually needs just a little help with your hand mid-cycle...and then it takes over to go to the desired position. The carburetor has been recently rebuilt.
The car is highly original...never receiving extensive restoration. Expect wear and use "patina" throughout the car. The overall presentation is good, but as the images will show, there is wear and aging in the interior. The overall body is quite straight. It appears to have been painted once...years ago. Though the body panels seem solid, there is some paint bubbling...particularly on the rear fenders toward the rear bumper...very common for this year.
Operationally, the horn and headlamps/tail-lamps/brake-lamps/horn/wipers/power windows/Power seat (okay fore and aft...front tilt is out) all work. The A/C, power antenna, directionals, clock and windshield washer will need service. The famed Cadillac electric pull-down for the trunk works well. Cruise Control light comes on...but feature was not tested.

updated electronic AM-FM-STEREO unit plays well. Sometimes a speaker will "cut out" on one side...which likely indicates a loose connection.
