The Vehicle..........2004 Volvo XC70 Cross Country Wagon in dark red with a sand leather interior. This Volvo is in GREAT CONDITION and RUNS BEAUTIFULLY. It has been checked for MA state inspection compliance. Features include the 2.4 liter 5 cylinder engine, automatic transmission, power steering and brakes, automatic climate control air conditioning, power sliding glass sunroof, power windows, heated power seats w/ memory, power door locks, power mirrors, cruise control, tilt & telescopic steering wheel, delay wipers, Thule roof rack, am-fm-cassette stereo with CD, alloy wheels, and much more.

Its Condition..........GREAT! The engine runs smoothly with no skips, noises, or vibrations. The transmission shifts smoothly through all the gears, and all other mechanical systems seem to function properly. This car was safety checked on 12-28-13 and found to in safe condition. It will pass Massachusetts state inspection. The interior is beautiful. There are no worn, torn, or stained areas on the seats, carpets, or headliner. The seats are supportive and comfortable. All other interior panels look excellent. The paint and body are very good. There are no dents, rusted areas, or serious scratches anywhere on the body. There is a minor dent and hole in the LR quarter panel (see photo), but nothing that detracts from the overall great look of this XC70. The paint appears original, and has an outstanding shine. We drove this car on a 12 mile test drive over varied road surfaces in cold weather. It was a smooth and pleasant experience with a powerful engine, comfortable interior and great stereo. There are no shakes, rattles, or vibrations, and the ride is just as smooth and comfortable as you would expect.

Things you should know..........I try hard to accurately describe all of our cars. Most are trade-ins to local new car dealers. We have not owned or driven these vehicles as daily transportation. The description is the result of a short test drive over varied road surfaces and a visual inspection while the vehicle is parked. I am not a mechanic and I do not guarantee that my description of problems (if any) is accurate or complete, but I try very hard to be thorough and honest, and my reputation reflects that effort. Please remember that these are used vehicles and you should expect a normal amount of wear for the year and mileage, but any serious known defects would be noted above. Local bidders are encouraged to see, drive, and inspect this vehicle prior to bidding.

The Details..........Please leave a $200 deposit at the end of the auction through ebay checkout and Paypal. The balance is due within 7 days in cash, or by wire transfer. I’ve been burned by official looking bank checks that were made on a home computer so we no longer accept checks of ANY kind. We add a $250 doc fee to all vehicle purchases. If your state requires notarized paperwork or special forms, please let me know before you arrive. The vehicle is being sold AS-IS, with no warranty expressed or implied except that it is guaranteed to pass Massachusetts state inspection. Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer, but I'll help in any way that I can. Massachusetts does NOT offer temp plates. If you plan to drive the car home, you will need to bring your own license plates.

Volvo's oldest model earns IIHS Top Safety Pick+ award [w/video]

Thu, 07 Nov 2013

Volvo ought to be tooting its horn over this one. The XC90, an SUV that has essentially been on sale for over 10 years, just captured a Top Safety Pick+ award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. The TSP+ is a new title, reserved for cars that earn "Good" or "Acceptable" ratings on each IIHS crash test.
This is a difficult feat for a new car - Toyota's new Corolla infamously failed to net a Top Safety Pick+ earlier this year - largely because of the new small overlap front tests, which have left many automakers struggling. But Volvo, somehow, was able to conquer the tests with a car that predates the original iPhone by a few years. The XC90 earning a Top Safety Pick+ is like Betty White taking the gold in the decathlon. With Volvo in the midst of working on the XC90's replacement, we're curious to see just how well a more modern version does in crash testing. Take a look down below for the crash test video and a press release from IIHS.

Next Polestar Volvo sounds great, whatever it is

Fri, 15 Nov 2013

Something - we don't know what yet - is coming from Polestar. While we'll be recovering from next week's LA Auto Show and Tokyo Motor Show (and starting to slack off ahead of an extended Thanksgiving weekend), the official tuner of Volvo products has announced plans to unveil its latest creation in less than two weeks.
Based on this video teaser, we can only imagine (and hope) that it's the souped-up Volvo V60 recently caught testing by our spy shooters. The idea of a high-performance Volvo wagon was already enough to get us giddy last month, but the exhaust note in this video is downright captivating. Scroll down to watch the teaser for yourself, and be prepared for some bright blue wagony goodness to be revealed on November 26.

Volvo wants this car to be the Crown Vic of global police fleets

Mon, 18 Nov 2013

It has been years since the last Ford Crown Victoria rolled off the assembly line, but these body-on-frame sedans are still the most recognizable police cars in the US. Volvo is making a strong push in hopes that its XC70 can attain the same level of success as a global police car. As it is, Volvo is a popular choice for police cars in its home country of Sweden, but its cars are also used in police fleets in the UK, Belgium and Switzerland.
With an upgraded chassis, Volvo is looking to attract agencies from around the globe, including the rest of Europe, Asia and even the Americas. Changes over a stock 2014 XC70 include a beefier suspension setup, and the automaker has also tested the police-spec version of the jacked-up wagon in just about all conditions it could encounter in Europe - from the high speeds of the German autobahn to the low traction of Sweden's snowy, winter roads. We doubt we'll see many, if any, of these Volvos policing the streets of the US, but if we do, we're sure it will be in New England, Colorado or North Carolina.
