2005 Volvo V70 2.4

We are pleased to present this incredibly nice Volvo V70 2.4 which is fitted with some fairly desirable options. First of all, 2005 is the first year for the facelift of these cars which gives them new more modern front and rear bumpers, different tail lights, headlights, and a completely redesigned center console and center stack. This V70 also has the Premium Package, Volvo Bluetooth Handsfree System, and iPod connectivity to the audio system. These regular V70s are incredibly rare, especially in the later years like this one. This is also one of the final years that these cars were available with the ultra-reliable non-turbocharged engine. This is one of those cars that will run forever and ever -- just keep putting gas in it, and it'll get you where you need to go. Speaking of gas, unlike its turbcharged sisters, it only requires regular fuel rather than premium. We just acquired this Volvo directly from a local Volvo dealership with whom we have a relationship and the ability to purchase their trade-ins. This car was just traded in by its senior female owner on a new XC60. She purchased this V70 Certified Pre-Owned from the same dealership with just 22k miles on it.

The interior of this V70 is in very, very good condition. It has arena (tan) leather heated seats with beautiful real walnut accents on the dash, console and door panels. The car has the "high performance sound" Alpine audio system upgrade which sounds excellent. It also has a power moonroof. The previous owner of this car was definitely a non-smoker. These cars don't even come with cigarette lighters, just power outlets. There is a cup holder that accommodates two beverages which is behind a very nice real wood sliding cover. The center console also features much more wood than the previous models, and it gives the car a much more upscale feel. This Volvo has dual front airbags, as well as front side airbags, and curtain airbags for the front and rear seats. It's got the WHIPS whiplash protection system as well which prevents whiplash in the event of a rear-end collission. It also features rain sensitive windshield wipers, along with heated mirrors, rain-repellant side glass and high-pressure headlight washer jets, which are part of the climate package.

The exterior of this V70 is in remarkably good condition, and Metallic Silver in color. The exterior of the car is actually in very nice condition, and there aren't any major flaws to note except for some scrapes on the right rear quarter panel. I tried to show them in the pics, but they have been touched up so it was difficult to get them to show up. The 15 inch alloy wheels are in good condition. Overall, this is a great looking V70.

The tires are all matching Michelin tires which are nearly new. They have better than 90% tread remaining. The brakes are in good shape and the car stops as it should. The legendary 2.4 Liternon-turbo 5 cylinder engine runs flawlessly and is very smooth. The transmission is also excellent.Three keys are included (Two remote switchblade keys, and one valet key), along with the owners manual set. There is also the window sticker from when the car was sold as Certified Pre Owned. This car was serviced exceptionally well by its previous owner who was a senior female.

Volvo Polestar reveals new V8 Supercars engine

Volvo may be better known for turbo fives and inline fours, but in 2005 it launched the XC90 with a new eight-cylinder engine built for it by Yamaha. Fast forward to this past June when Volvo announced its intention to enter Australia's V8 Supercars series, where it would compete with the likes of Ford, Holden, Nissan and Mercedes-AMG. This is the engine with which it intends to do so.
Revealed this weekend at the Sydney 500, this competition-spec powerplant is based on the same B8444S that powered the XC90 and S80 (not to mention the Noble M600), but tuned for racing duty to be shoehorned into the new S60 touring car. The 60-degree aluminum block has been bored out from 4.4 liters to 5.0, its compression ratio boosted to 10:1, modified to run on E85 bio-ethanol and its redline increased to 7500 rpm. Volvo also promises a unique engine note from its new racers.
While Volvo and its racing partner Polestar haven't released official output numbers, regulations call for outputs between 620 and 650 horsepower - in any event, a whole lot more than the 311 hp it produces in stock form. (Noble managed to squeeze that much out of the same block, but that required twin turbochargers while this unit remains naturally aspirated.) Volvo buyers have best credit scores among all auto shoppers

Experian, the US credit reporting agency, recently concluded a study into the financing and credit scores of US car buyers. One of the prime findings was that Volvo buyers enjoy the strongest credit scores among new car shoppers from all brands (nota bene, these are Experian's own numbers and can differ from other agencies). Unlike the Forbes report on the same story, though, we don't find that surprising at all, nor do we think it necessarily helps Volvo's upscale brand aspirations. The Gothenburg-based carmaker has sold its wares on tank-like safety for decades, so it seems natural that its buyers would be just as safe with and attentive to their credit scores as they are with their choice of vehicle.
Audi was ranked fourth by consumer credit score, Porsche seventh and Mercedes-Benz ninth, yet the fact that Volvo outranks them in this metric is probably a plus to its bottom line but not necessarily its image. It's not unfair to say more people desire those other luxury brands - Volvo itself has admitted as much - and people in the throes of desire have been known to be a little more let-it-ride about things like credit scores. The differences aren't huge, though: compared to Volvo's 818, Audi shoppers scored at 813, Mercedes shoppers 802. Lexus and Acura intenders took the other two steps on the top-credit-scores podium.
Mitsubishi took the honors at the other end of the charts, Experian finding that its potential customers, with an average of 604, had the lowest scores. Mitsubishi was followed by Suzuki and Dodge. On the other side of the financing table, Toyota led the way in how many of its vehicles were bought with bank assistance, followed closely by Ford, Chevrolet taking third place. Also of note, and for whatever it's worth, not one automaker made both the 'top ten by financing' and 'top ten by credit score' lists, but four made both the financing and 'bottom ten by credit score' lists: Chevrolet, Nissan, Kia and Dodge.

Volvo's Geneva-bound concept wagon looks sexy in a raincoat

Volvo is set to complete its concept car trilogy at the next month's Geneva Motor Show with the debut of its Concept Estate, the followup to its Concept Coupe from the Frankfurt Motor Show and Concept XC Coupe from the Detroit Auto Show. We've been looking forward to its Swiss debut, and now some teaser images of the Concept Estate have been uncovered... on the website of a raincoat seller?
Yes, Swedish raincoat maker Stutterheim has apparently been commissioned by Volvo to build a high-quality car cover for its Geneva concept, and the fabricator's website shows off some of the details of the long-roofed design study. From what we can see, it looks like the Concept Estate is more shooting brake than traditional wagon. Also, it's brown. So basically, Volvo has built the ultimate car for auto journalists.
Joking aside, the images show off more than a few of the design traits we've seen on Volvo's two previous concept cars. A wide, rectangular grille and lowercase-B-shaped taillights are both noticeable in these teasers, but we can't see much more than that.
