Selling my 2000 XC70. It runs very well and has been super reliable over the years.

-New all season tires (less than 1000 miles on them)
-New battery (3 days ago)
-Just changed the oil, transmission fluid and coolant
-New (remanufactured) alternator
-Heavy duty snap in volvo carpet mats throughout

It has every option you could think of. Power everything, heated seats with memory, premium audio, it is loaded. It really is a great car. Very comfortable, spacious and safe. In the winters here we occasionally have a few feet of snow on the roads and it has always done extremely well. It has a beautiful paint color, which is kind of a greenish silver. All the rubber on the exterior and all the weather stripping is in good shape. There is just one small dent near the rear passenger door which I will provide a close up photo of.

Mechanically the car is very solid. Occasionally the check engine light or the service light will come on, but then they will go off again. I have never had any problems result from this. I asked my mechanic and he said it is the speed output sensor, which is around $40. He said the one in the car might just be dirty or loose. Either way I never had it fixed because it never caused any problems. The car runs smooth, the turbo boosts well, and everything works as it should.

All power and mechanical features work as they should.

I will try my best to upload more photos as soon as possible. Feel free to message me with any questions and I'll give you my phone number if you are a serious bidder. Thanks

THIS CAR IS SOLD AS IS, WHERE IS WITH NO IMPLIED WARRANTY. SELLER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY AND ALL SHIPPING COSTS.

Volvo shows inflatable child seat concept [w/video]

Mon, 14 Apr 2014

Volvo is bringing its emphasis on safety and design to the littlest members of the family with its concept for an inflatable, rearward facing child safety seat. The design is meant to help traveling families by offering a lighter and less bulky alternative to traditional car seats.
The design is quite ingenious. The seat is covered in drop-stitched fabric, which fills with air to create the form of the seat. An electric motor in it allows inflation and deflation in less than 40 seconds, according to Volvo. It weighs less than 5 kilograms (11 pounds) and folds small enough when collapsed to fit into a bag. It even has a Bluetooth connection, so parents can begin expanding it remotely.
The inflatable seat in the brainchild of Lawrence Abele, Volvo's design manager at its Monitoring and Concept Center in Los Angeles, CA. "For many, travelling with young children is a challenge; any assistance to simplify the parents' life with young children is a great thing," he said in a statement released by Volvo. The chair remains a concept for now, and the automaker isn't saying whether it's going to put it into production, but it's a clever solution to a common problem. Scroll down for a video showing it in action and to read the release.

Tony Nicolosi named CEO of Volvo Cars North America

Fri, 04 Oct 2013

Volvo announced today that it has named Tony Nicolosi, president and CEO of Volvo Car Financial Services VCFS), as the new CEO of Volvo Cars of North America (VCNA). Nicolosi replaces John Maloney, who chose to leave due to family obligations after Volvo offered him a position in Europe.
Volvo says Nicolosi will remain president and CEO of VCFS while he assumes VCNA's top position. The Swedish automaker also says a "permanent successor [to Maloney] as President and CEO will be the subject of a later announcement."
The move comes as part of a management shakeup that's part of a "larger transformation taking place at Volvo," the automaker says.

Volvo finds a way to turn body panels into batteries [w/video]

Thu, 17 Oct 2013

One of the problems with designing an electric vehicle is figuring out where to fit the battery pack. Volvo - as a part of a European Union research project - is working on a way around this issue by replacing standard parts with lightweight components that double as batteries on both conventional and plug-in vehicles. The image above shows one such piece on a Volvo S80. While looking like nothing more than a carbon fiber plenum cover, the piece is actually a battery pack that can store and supply enough energy for the car's entire 12-volt power system.
The parts are made by sandwiching super capacitors (which can charge faster than standard batteries) in between layers of carbon fiber. They can then be formed to replace numerous body panels such as the decklid, roof or door panels. Volvo says that the replacing the body panels and batteries with these nano batteries can help reduce the vehicle's weight by as much as 15 percent. It has taken more than three years just to design the batteries, so there's no telling when, or if, we'll ever see this technology used on a production vehicle.
