I am the second owner of this 2005 S60R.  It was originally leased from Edison Volvo in NJ, where it was returned and purchased by me in January of 2009.  It has been meticulously maintained and is in excellent condition.  It is a flawless driver, and everything works as it should.

Standard and optional features include:
All Wheel Drive
17 in. wheels
2.5L turbocharged 5-cyl. engine w/twin intercoolers
Power everything
Sunroof
Heated seats
Premium sound system
Three cows worth of leather
5-speed automatic w/manual change ability and sport mode
Brembo brakes
Electronic driver adjustable shock damping
Heated mirrors, self-dimming
Rain sensing wipers
Tilt/telescoping wheel
Bi-Xenon headlamps and projector type front fog lamps
Stability and traction control
Front and side air bags
Laminated side glass
Homelink garage opener
(The only option it doesn't have is navigation)

Within the last 24 months it has had - in addition to regular oil services - ALL fluids changed and a new set of 4 Bridgestone Potenza G019 all-season tires that still have a minimum of 8/32 tread left.  The car is completely stock except for a QMB strut bar from IPD.

Included with the car are two keys w/electronic key fob, oil filter wrench, a new cabin air filter, and all-weather front floor mats.  This R has been completely reliable.  The ONLY repair it's needed was a replacement O-ring in the turbo duct that a technician left out when installing new plugs.

Watch Volvo's V8 Supercar drivers play with the Polestar S60 in the Arctic

Thu, 03 Apr 2014

The Volvo S60 Polestar may not seem like a natural fit for the V8 Supercars series that runs throughout Australia, New Zealand and Tasmania. After all, the all-wheel-drive production-spec car isn't even available with a V8. But the rear-wheel-drive racing version has acquitted itself well in the early races of the season, even scoring an overall win at a race in Melbourne. Currently at seventh place in the championship, the S60 the most successful car that isn't a Holden or Ford.
To celebrate its burgeoning success, Volvo sent its V8 Supercars drivers Robert Dahlgren and Scott McLaughlin to home base in Sweden to have some fun driving in the snow and to visit Polestar headquarters. The two of them do some big power slides on an icy lake and then taker a deeper look into the company's performance division. Scroll down to watch the video full of sliding Swedish sedans.

Volvo finds a way to turn body panels into batteries [w/video]

Thu, 17 Oct 2013

One of the problems with designing an electric vehicle is figuring out where to fit the battery pack. Volvo - as a part of a European Union research project - is working on a way around this issue by replacing standard parts with lightweight components that double as batteries on both conventional and plug-in vehicles. The image above shows one such piece on a Volvo S80. While looking like nothing more than a carbon fiber plenum cover, the piece is actually a battery pack that can store and supply enough energy for the car's entire 12-volt power system.
The parts are made by sandwiching super capacitors (which can charge faster than standard batteries) in between layers of carbon fiber. They can then be formed to replace numerous body panels such as the decklid, roof or door panels. Volvo says that the replacing the body panels and batteries with these nano batteries can help reduce the vehicle's weight by as much as 15 percent. It has taken more than three years just to design the batteries, so there's no telling when, or if, we'll ever see this technology used on a production vehicle. Volvos will brake for bicyclists with new detection technology

Thu, 07 Mar 2013

Anyone who pedals a bicycle knows that one of the biggest dangers to riders is a motorized vehicle - Volvo estimates that nearly 50 percent of all cyclists killed in European traffic have collided with a car. In the United States alone, 618 riders lost their lives in bicycle/motor vehicle crashes in 2010, and the number of injuries surpassed 52,000.
To help drop those numbers, Volvo has just announced Cyclist Detection with full auto brake - a technology that detects and automatically applies a vehicle's brakes when a cyclist swerves in front of a moving car. The basic components of the system include a radar unit integrated into the front grille, a camera fitted in front of the interior rear-view mirror and a central control unit. The radar is tasked with seeing obstacles in front of the vehicle and calculating distance, while the camera is responsible to determine what the object is. The central control unit, with rapid processing capabilities, monitors and evaluates the situation.
The technology, which will be sold bundled with its Pedestrian Detection and called Pedestrian and Cyclist Detection, will automatically apply full braking when both the radar and camera confirm a pedestrian or cyclist are in the immediate path of the vehicle. According to the automaker, the technology will be offered on the Volvo V40, S60, V60, XC60, V70, XC70 and S80 models from mid-May in 2013.
