Here is a Volvo Amazon 121 ice track racer from nothern Sweden. The car has a heavily tuned B18B engine with a weber DVGA and an R-cam. There has probably been done some work to the head too, the compression is about 9,5 on all cylinders. The car is low geared ad has a J type overdrive, and I am quite sure it has a locking differential too as it makes wheel spin on both wheels. The car doesnt have a lot of power at low rpm, but pulls hard above 3000. Clutch is very narrow, so is probably a racing clutch. The car has the least rusty body I have seen on a original Amazon for a very long time, even the panels are straight and solid The bottom of the car is rust free too apart from a 4 cm hole underneath the driver seat. The only place that the car ever been welded is the 2 lower rear panels behind the rear wheels. You will need to change the panels that hold the front wings and the two lower pieces behind the rear wheels, I would consider selling the car as parts, let me know your offers on the specific parts. The car is still on swedish papers If you need to see more pictures, feel free to ask. The car starts, steers and brakes as it should, the gearbox works too and has a nice tight feeling to it. I am 100% sure that the car is in its original paint exept for the front and front wings. A few smaller dents are present on the car, but nothing major. 20% of sale price has to be paid by paypal within 24 hours of the sale, the rest should be paid in cash on pick up. Viewers welcome!

Apple announces CarPlay in-car iPhone interface

Mon, 03 Mar 2014

Apple, maker of tech items like the iPhone, iPad and Mac line of computers, is extending its reach into the automotive market, making a fairly big announcement ahead of the Geneva Motor Show. No, it hasn't bought Tesla (yet). Instead, Apple has announced CarPlay, an all-new means of controlling an iPhone through your car.
Now, this doesn't strike us as some gimmicky thing. It's become increasingly common for automakers to take advantage of the high-speed data streams its customers enjoy on their smartphones in order to integrate navigation, traffic, audio and other infotainment items into a car's touchscreen interface. The Chevrolet Spark and Sonic are two prime examples of this move, using an iPhone's data stream for Siri integration and data for a third-party navigation app.
Owners will be able to plug in their iPhones to their cars via the USB port and gain control of a number of the device's functions, all through a car's touchscreen.

Volvo celebrates 20 years since 850 wagons came to BTCC

Wed, 30 Apr 2014

This year Honda Yuasa Racing brought a station wagon back to the ranks of competitors in the British Touring Car Championship (its drivers currently sit in third and fifth place in the Championship). In 1994, however, Volvo was the first team to run an estate in the series that's one of the best for delivering close racing.
Rickard Rydell and Jan Lammers drove the duo of 850 Estates prepped by Tom Walkinshaw Racing, lining up at Thruxton and proving that the rumors of a wagon in the series weren't a joke. The team used that year for development, getting the 2.0-liter, 290-horsepower, naturally aspirated five-cylinder engine ready for the next year's proper assault. The team's best finish over the 21 races was a fifth place, and they took 14th overall.
Rules changes led Volvo to switch to the 850 sedan the following year, but all the right noises had been made with the wagon. Rydell drive on to a third-place overall finish in 1995, three years later he claimed the Championship title. You'll find details and reminiscing from Rydell in the press release below, as well as the full video with scenes from the glory days.
