1978 Volvo 242 Dl, 90,000 Miles, All Original! Barn Find Look! Nr! No Reserve on 2040-cars

Year:1978 Mileage:90000
Location:

Selling an excellent specimen garage find 1978 Volvo 242 DL.  Amityville Volvo Car originally.  90,000 Original miles. Last registered in 1990.  I changed all the bulbs in dash and got the gauges working when I got the car last fall, replaced driveshaft bushing and bearing. Installed new fuel injectors. Rebuilt fuel distributor.  New intake gasket.  Engine has good compression and was running and driving last fall, but K-jet injection  system is funky.  It has a tank of clean fuel after fuel flush with new fuel pump, and filter.  Starter is good, as is clutch. Tires are old but have tons of tread, minor dry rot, as it was stored in a garage in NYC.  Interior is overall in excellent condition without sunfade or typical cracked dash, but could use a deep clean.  I have all 4 center-hubcaps, original spare and tool kit. Comes with regular original gas cap, and Volvo locking cap.  Car is a manual 4 speed transmission and manual windows. Has awesome vintage WORKING tape deck radio (not volvo original).    Easiest solution for the fuel issues is a LH conversion, Volvo guys know what I'm talking about.  A long day and $150 and it's reliable, I just have too many projects.  Call with questions or to come check it out. (908)3345710.  This is a no reserve auction, Winning bidder wins.  I reserve the right to sell the vehicle locally, or cancel a bid because of low or no feedback.. Thanks!

Volvo shows glimpses of new Concept C Coupe ahead of Frankfurt [w/video]

Mon, 26 Aug 2013

Volvo has released a short teaser video for a concept car that will be unveiled on August 29 ahead of the Frankfurt Motor Show. At first glance, it would appear to be nothing more than a few sketches and some words from Volvo design boss Thomas Ingenlath, but at about the 11-second mark, four images are flashed on the screen revealing the true nature of the video - the Volvo Concept C Coupe.
As Inglenlath suggests in the video, this new concept is designed to help bring more excitement to the brand's lineup, and from what we can tell in these strategically captured shots, the company is definitely on to something. While we don't get too much of look from any one angle, the front reveals what appears to be a concave version of Volvo's signature grille and the side shows off a stylish greenhouse. We have to wonder, do these images confirm the identity of the mystery concept car that's been floating around the Internet this week? In either case, our favorite view is perhaps the rear shot giving us a glimpse of the car's name as well as its flat, wide haunches and C-shaped taillights.
Scroll down to watch the whole video, and if you don't have a trigger-quick mouse finger, don't worry. We made a gallery of screen shots showing the four embedded images.

Volvo Concept Estate is a brown shooting brake, need we say more?

Wed, 26 Feb 2014

Set for a debut at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show next week, images of the Volvo Concept Estate have found their way onto the web courtesy of Jalopnik. If the Concept Coupe from Frankfurt were a modern P1800, the Concept Estate is a modern P1800ES.
We briefly detailed the finale to Volvo's trio of concept cars earlier this week, when images of it poked out finished in a custom car cover. Now, with a batch of uncovered images at hand, we're able to see just how pretty this brown beauty really is.
Below the beltline, this is pretty much the Concept Coupe, featuring the same T-shaped headlights and wide, rectangular grille. Above the beltline, though, things get fun. The long, glass roof terminates in a squat, wide rear end which is set off by a pair of meaty haunches. The taillights, meanwhile, expand on the style shown on Volvo's Detroit concept, the Concept XC Coupe. And that hatch opens up into a rather cavernous rear end.

Irv Gordon's Volvo P1800 has reached 3 million miles

Wed, 18 Sep 2013

While we were seated at our desks like good worker bees yesterday, Irv Gordon was continuing his assault on the record books. Gordon, if you recall, is the original owner of a red 1966 Volvo P1800 (owner and car shown above), and yesterday, Volvo says the coupe's odometer clocked its three-millionth mile. The miracle mile occurred on the Seward Highway in Alaska, one of only two states that Gordon had never visited.
It took the New York native more than 20 years to hit his first million miles in 1987 and another 15 years to achieve two million miles in 2002, but a road trip to Alaska will further cement his place in the record books as the car surpasses three million miles. Gordon has almost doubled the 1.69-million mile distance that helped him win a Guinness Book of World Records title for the most miles logged on an originally owned car, and this new momentous distance proves the durability of both man and machine. For more information on Gordon's feat, scroll down for a Volvo press release or check out a website set up to celebrate his latest milestone.
