1975 Vw Thing Type 131 Nice Condition on 2040-cars

Year:1974 Mileage:47139
Location:

Clinton, Washington, United States

Clinton, Washington, United States

Selling a very nice 1974 Volkswagon Thing (type 131) for a client.

The car is virtually rust free, and would appear to have been a West Coast car all of its life. Well cared for and I can find no signs of previous damage.

The car is extremely presentable, the bumpers were removed because the owner thought it looked better with out, they are however included in the sale, along with a brush bar with lights.

The engine was professionally rebuilt to a very high standard,

Rebuilt trans axle, rebuilt brakes and new steering box installed.

New axles.

The Paint is very nice over all and what I would grade as a great driver quality or good club quality but not quite show quality.
Interior is very clean and nice and was redone at some point. There are a few small bubbles that are present on the front fenders that have gotten no worst over the 5 or so years the owner has had the vehicle. It has been pampered and garaged since he has owned it.

Features glass side curtains, and a fiberglass hardtop over a roll cage. NO soft top with this one.

New wheels and tires.

The car has a Pioneer AM/FM stereo with CD player, amp and sub woofer.

Comes with an extra set of wheels and tires in very good condition.

Extra gauges installed in the dash, giving the car full instrumentation.

If your looking for a very well sorted, great driving VW thing this could be the one for you. The car was built to be a quality driver to be kept for many years, and it is only the fact that the owner is moving that forces this reluctant sale, as is obvious in the pictures he has spent a lot of money making this VW very nice.

Please call if you have interest or questions I am more than happy to answer any and all questions. Jim 425 238 5317, please remember I am on the West Coast so reasonable hours please. Should you get the message please leave your number and I will return your call at my earliest convenience.

More than happy to help arrange shipping to anywhere in the world, if you need or want me to get shipping quotes for you, I am happy to do that. I would remind you that shipping cost will be that of the new owner, and the car must be paid in full before leaving in verified funds.  Please make sure you have your wife's permission and funds in place before bidding. Not really interested in hearing yet another story from someone who was not prepared to follow through with the purchase. Thanks for taking time to look.

VW, Suzuki mulling rekindling relationship in face of legal battle

Sat, 27 Jul 2013

Volkswagen and Suzuki have been undergoing marriage counseling in a bid to avoid finalizing their nasty divorce. The blissful union has been troubled for some time, with Volkswagen claiming that it could affect operational decisions at Suzuki, and the Japanese brand's sniping and constant flirting with a certain Italian temptress causing rifts.
The matter first went to court in 2012, when Suzuki demanded VW get out, and leave its 19.9-percent stake in the Japanese brand in a box to the left. Now, Automotive News is reporting that the company will give the relationship one last shot, according to closed-door dealings between the two in London.
Still, it's understood that VW and Suzuki recognize the benefit of their alliance, and that it'd be in the best interests of the kids both parties to make things work. Spokespeople declined to comment to AN, but the newsmagazine spoke with Frank Biller, an analyst for LBBW in Stuttgart, who said, "Both companies stand to benefit if they can overcome the disagreements over leadership claims."

Volkswagen adding R-Line trim to Touareg, Tiguan for 2014

Fri, 11 Jan 2013

Volkswagen introduced its aggressive R-Line appearance package on the CC and Beetle last year, but later this year, this treatment will also be applied to VW's crossovers, the Tiguan and Touareg. Both sporty-looking utility vehicles will be unveiled next week at the Detroit Auto Show.
The 2014 Tiguan R-Line comes standard with bi-xenon headlights and LED daytime running lights, and the package adds 19-inch wheels, grey fender extensions, body-color side skirts and a liftgate spoiler. Inside, the R-Line adds a flat-bottom sport steering wheel with paddle shifters, a black headliner and numerous metallic trim accents such as the stainless scuff plates, the aluminum pedals and metallic finish on the instrument and door panels. The Tiguan R-Line will be offered in front- and all-wheel drive configurations.
As for the 2014 Touareg R-Line (shown above), this model gets an ever more distinctive look with an aggressive front fascia, 20-inch wheels and dual oval-shaped exhaust outlets in addition to the painted side skirts and LED taillights. Similar metallic interior trim pieces found inside the Tiguan R-Line will also make their way into the Touareg as well as gloss black accents on the instrument panel and center stack.

Anti-union group files lawsuit against VW and UAW

Fri, 14 Mar 2014

The fight for unionization at Volkswagen's Chattanooga, TN, factory isn't letting up. Yesterday, the National Labor Relations Board decided to allow anti-United Auto Workers employees at the plant the right to defend voting down the measure. Now, a group called the National Right to Work Foundation has filed a federal lawsuit on behalf of five workers against VW and the UAW for allegedly working together to organize.
The group says in a release that it wants "to block further collusion between the company and the United Auto Workers." It alleges that VW forced workers to attend "mandatory pro-union meetings" and prevented managers from opposing. In a rebuttal on its website, the UAW called the claims "baseless" and said its actions were entirely legal.
One possible problem faces the carmaker in regards to the lawsuit. According to the Detroit Free Press, a recent US Court of Appeals ruling found that neutrality agreements like the one the business had with the UAW could be illegal if the company provided "things of value" to the union. The newspaper also claims that VW held a mandatory employee meeting concerning the election, but workers were free to leave during the UAW's presentation.
