1973 Volkswagen THING type 181 red with new black top and grey interior. This THING runs and drives perfectly and always starts right up and is ready to take you wherever you want to go. You can drive this car anywhere with confidence. My wife and I bought this this THING from a Texas collector a couple years ago and had the car shipped to us. The collector had done a complete rebuild on the motor a few years ago and 5000 miles ago and he drove and enjoyed the vehicle and at that time the odometer was reset back to zero so the car shows to have a little over 5000 miles on the car. The vehicle has no rust and does not appear to have ever been wrecked or in an accident. Approximately 1 year ago we had a VW THING expert mechanic go thru all of the mechanics of the car and spent $2502.00 on having anything that needed replaced or that was worn replaced of which we have the receipts for showing everything that was completed. We had a new clutch installed, wheel bearings repacked, some seals and hoses replaced and all fluids changed to make the car in great mechanical condition. Shortly there after we purchased a new black soft top for the car which cost $1375.00. We have the side windows for all 4 doors but those are not new. We also installed a new stereo and speakers in the car with an MP3 player hook up. The tires are in great shape. The car has an older paint job but still looks great but does have a few chips and scratches. This car is in great shape and the engine compartment and trunk are very clean. The THING draws a lot of attention everywhere it goes. This car is a great driver that you can enjoy and get a lot of looks while driving it. Title is clear and in hand. Volkswagen Cross Up! headed for production after Geneva reveal

The last time we saw the Volkswagen Cross Up!, it was sitting out in the snow in prototype form, but the next time we'll see this slightly more rugged version of the diminutive Up! hatchback will be when it makes its production debut at the Geneva Motor Show next month. Looking like a micro-crossover with its raised ground clearance and black cladding, the Cross Up! will be the fourth "Cross" model for VW (after the CrossPolo, CrossGolf and CrossTouran) when it goes on sale this summer in mainland Europe (UK sales remain up in the air and US sales are highly unlikely).
Overall, the styling of the production Cross Up! has stayed fairly true to the 2011 concept car, including the front and rear fascias that offer a more rugged look, stocky 16-inch wheels and roof rack side rails. Inside, this model will get unique interior enhancements such as "Cross Up!" sill plates and an instrument panel available in red, black or silver. Like the regular Up!, the Cross Up! is powered by a 74-horsepower, 1.0-liter three-cylinder engine paired to a five-speed manual transmission, and it doesn't look like all-wheel drive will be part of the picture. Volkswagen to add 50k jobs by 2018

Volkswagen still has its eyes set on becoming the top global automaker by 2018, and to get there, it's apparently going to need more boots on the ground. Automotive News Europe is reporting that VW is looking to increase its staff by 50,000 over the next five years - an increase of nine percent - which does not include an increase in its US dealer network.
According to the report, a majority of the growth will come from China where the automaker is also looking to double its production capacity in the same time frame. The Volkswagen Group is already expected to rival General Motors for the top sales spot in China this year, and such a rapid expansion in the region could make a good springboard for sales increases in other countries.

Volkswagen Golf voted 2013 European Car of the Year

The seventh-generation Volkswagen Golf just went on sale in Europe, but it is already off to a promising start. Announced as the Geneva Motor Show kicked off, the newest Golf was named European Car of the Year for 2013 in dominating style over cars like the Subaru BRZ/Toyota GT86 twins, Volvo V40, Ford B-Max and Mercedes-Benz A-Class.
According to Automotive News Europe, the MkVII Golf won handily over its rivals with a total of 414 votes. The Subaru BRZ and Toyota GT86 received 202 votes finishing in a distant second, while the Volvo V40 (189 votes), Ford B-Max (148 votes) and Mercedes-Benz A-Class (138 votes) round out the top five. The new Golf marks the third Volkswagen product to receive the prestigious award with previous cars including the MkIII Golf and the most recent iteration of the Polo.
