2006 Vw Rabbit 5 Speed on 2040-cars
Davenport, Iowa, United States
2006 VW Rabbit 5 speed manual transmission. 139xxx miles. $5000.00
Great car. Mostly highway miles since I purchased it when it had 50k miles. Selling to pay off some debt. 5 cylinder engine. Very fun to drive and good mileage. Color is called sage green although it looks grey. Tan cloth interior. Heated seats. 6-CD changer. Car is in excellent condition. In the last few months, spent ~1500 on new front and rear brake rotors/pads and a new rear wheel bearing. Well-maintained with regular oil changes. One small dent in driver side door (shown in photo). Airbag light is on - the airbag works fine, it's the light. I keep getting it fixed (5 or 6 times now) and it keeps coming back on. Interior detailed in May. Title in hand. |

VW confirms development of 10-speed dual clutch, 134-hp/liter diesel
Fri, 26 Apr 2013Each year, the Vienna International Motor Symposium showcases some of the up-and-coming technologies automakers are engineering for the use in passenger cars, and Volkswagen AG CEO Martin Winterkorn revealed some big developments VW is working on for its future products. Winterkorn discussed a multi-faceted approach that VW is looking to reduce its fleet fuel consumption and exhaust emissions.
Some of the bigger news he discussed included a "high-performance" diesel engine that will produce 134 horsepower per liter and a 10-speed DSG automatic transmission. While no specific applications were mentioned, we can only hope this is for the Audi R4 we keep hearing about.
Another topic he touched on that caused us to perk up our ears was had to do with VW's plug-in hybrid technology. While we know the PHEV versions of the Audi A3 and Porsche Panamera are on the way, Winterkorn also said that these two models will be followed up by Golf, Passat, Audi A6 and Porsche Cayenne plug-in models. Scroll down for a press release highlighting the automaker's future fuel-saving initiatives.
Witness this insane 736-hp VW Golf immolate its front tires
Mon, 11 Mar 2013There's torque steer and then there's what we'll from now on dub "The Boba," as in Boba Kettler. The German tuner has a way with the Volkswagen Golf, and the MkI example you see above has been touched with 736 horsepower - that's right, 96 more ponies than a new SRT Viper, all trying to get to ground through those two front wheels.
The 2.0-liter, 16-valve engine has an 8,800 rpm redline and is aided by a Garrett GTX3582R turbocharger shoving 50 psi through the internals. Other upgrades include a new ECU (natch) and a six-speed 'box among other treats. The rubber is Toyo R888s - street-legal competition tires. The result is enough smoke for three Chinese New Years when the lights go green. Indeed, the standing start isn't its forte, but it can apparently get from 62 miles per hour to 124 mph in five seconds.
Watch it go in the video below. And know that this isn't even Boba's best work; he's got a 900-hp MkII Golf that'll do 0-62 mph in 2.3 seconds.
