This is a very good condition Diesel Rabbit. Has 90,461 original miles and counting. This vehicle has been my daily driver and has been owned by me for the past 2 years. Before that it was owned by an elderly gentleman in Douglas in Arizona. This has been a project car for me and has required $7,000 plus in repairs and restoration.

Vehicle has been painted back to its original reddish brown color. It has also received an engine overhaul and rebuilt injector pump among many other things which I will list. Rabbit is very clean inside and out. Seats are in excellent condition and engine runs very strong and currently averages 50 MPG's.

Repairs:

Full paint job
Rebuilt injector pump by Southwest Diesel
New piston rings
New connecting rod bearings
New head gasket
New main bearing
New thermostat
New oil pump
New oil pump gasket
New rear main seal
New cam shaft seal
New front seal
New valve cover
New seals and hoses, many
New timing belt, electronically timed
New clutch cable
New brake pads
New front struts
All new motor mounts x4
Rebuilt vacuum pump
New speedometer cable
New clutch cable

New Battery
New pioneer CD player with auxillary input

Pretty sure thats all of it and I have receipts for everything. Only selling because we are moving and getting out of debt is a good option for us. But it has been a great vehicle for me and should last someone for a very long time. Title is clean and shows no salvage or bad mileage. Miles are original. Non Smoker.

The Bad:

-Head Liner, just the foam up there now.
-Has factory AC but currently not working. Have not even tried to figure this out because we dont need it up in Flagstaff. Could be an easy fix or could be needing a new compressor. But the compressor is there.

Honestly a great vehicle in very good condition. If I can answer any further questions dont hesitate to email me.

Porsche 911 with VW turbodiesel prepares for LeMons assault

Fri, 21 Mar 2014

LeMons racing is a wonderful example that setting limits can actually breed creativity. The series mandates that all entries must cost $500, not counting safety equipment, and that cap forces teams to be ingenious in how they build a racecar. Take for example this diesel-powered Porsche 911, which its creators have dubbed Ferkel the Nein-11, that will be racing in the Sears Pointless race this weekend in Sonoma, California.
This Frankenstein combines a 911 chassis that was originally bought just for its European powertrain and a Volkswagen TDI diesel engine mounted in the rear. After deciding the shell could still be of some use, the team decided to go racing. "We began brainstorming what replacement drivetrain to use for maximum offense and there was really only one answer: a diesel," said Philipp von Weitershausen, one of the team captains, to Jalopnik. They bought a 1998 Jetta TDI on the cheap and started figuring out a way to hack the engine into the bay. To pay respect to the donor, the VW's trunk was highly modified (and drilled) and grafted onto the back of Ferkel.
This team isn't a newcomer to LeMons. Its last car was a classic VW Beetle with a Subaru engine and dual controls, named Ferdinand the Bug, which could be driven from the left or right side. It's quite a sight.

Anti-union group files lawsuit against VW and UAW

Fri, 14 Mar 2014

The fight for unionization at Volkswagen's Chattanooga, TN, factory isn't letting up. Yesterday, the National Labor Relations Board decided to allow anti-United Auto Workers employees at the plant the right to defend voting down the measure. Now, a group called the National Right to Work Foundation has filed a federal lawsuit on behalf of five workers against VW and the UAW for allegedly working together to organize.
The group says in a release that it wants "to block further collusion between the company and the United Auto Workers." It alleges that VW forced workers to attend "mandatory pro-union meetings" and prevented managers from opposing. In a rebuttal on its website, the UAW called the claims "baseless" and said its actions were entirely legal.
One possible problem faces the carmaker in regards to the lawsuit. According to the Detroit Free Press, a recent US Court of Appeals ruling found that neutrality agreements like the one the business had with the UAW could be illegal if the company provided "things of value" to the union. The newspaper also claims that VW held a mandatory employee meeting concerning the election, but workers were free to leave during the UAW's presentation.

Porsche again staring down another $1.8B in hedge fund lawsuits

Wed, 15 May 2013

The sequence of events from 2007 that began with Porsche's secret attempt to take over Volkswagen, and instead lead to Porsche being taken over by VW, continues to instigate lawsuits against the Stuttgart sports car manufacturer. A group of hedge funds that suffered over $1 billion in losses sued the car company in New York. Porsche had publicly stated it wasn't trying to buy VW, the hedge funds in question were shorting VW stock, and when Porsche's actual intentions were revealed, the stock shot up and the hedge funds took a beating.
The case was thrown out over the issue of jurisdiction, then appealed, only to see another suit filed on top of that. After that, most of the hedge funds withdrew their claims in New York and Porsche offered a 90-day window to refile in Germany where it is already fighting a number of other suits over the same issue. The hedge funds accepted the offer, refiling in Stuttgart for $1.8 billion in damages. According to Bloomberg, Porsche hasn't commented on the refiling, but as the same plaintiffs are involved, it's safe to assume that the carmaker still feels the case is "unsubstantiated and without merit." It has fared alright so far even in German courts, with two lesser cases against it thrown out last year.
