1982 Volkswagen Rabbit Convertible With 24,000 Miles! on 2040-cars
New Preston Marble Dale, Connecticut, United States
Calling all VW Collectors!!!!!!! UP for auction is a totally 100% original VW Rabbit Convertible with 24,000 miles! This is a ONE OWNER vehicle. The Rabbit is equipped with the reliable 1.7 Liter 4 CYL engine, paired with a 5 speed manual transmission. The paint is original and holds a beautiful shine. The Rabbit's Interior and the top is perfect, with no rips or tears. This car comes with all manuals and paperwork from new. This car was purchased at Countryside VW of Torrington, CT and spent all of it's life as a weekend / fair weather summer car. Kept in a climate controlled garage, it was never taken out in snow or rain. It runs great, shifts smooth, and needs nothing. This Rabbit still has it's original floor mats protected by another set of VW floor mats. The carpet is in good condition and in fact, we just removed it's fuzzy seat covers that revealed a very well preserved interior. It has sport gauges and the original style quarts clock that works. This car always received regular servicing and a yearly waxing. It has good tires and brakes. This car is truly a time capsule! In the door jam, it has an oil change stocker form 1989 showing the car had 18,000 miles on it. This is a fine example of a totally rust free, and unrestored first generation Rabbit. My name is Travis. Please call me with any questions. (860) 921-8542. Happy Bidding. Car is located in New Preston , CT |

Volkswagen and Funny or Die take humorous spin in 2015 Golf
Wed, 10 Sep 2014Volkswagen is partnering with Target and Funny or Die in a bizarre ad for the latest Golf starring comedian Rob Huebel, probably best known for his work on Childrens Hospital on Adult Swim.
The commercial is titled The Way Too Helpful Neighbor and stars Huebel as the eponymous neighbor. The challenge is for Huebel to help improve his buddy's apartment before the guy meets his girlfriend's parents for the first time. The obvious way to do that is to slide a new Golf through an actual Target in Texas, while simultaneously showcasing the store's goods and the car's features.
The commercial is airing online now and on TBS during breaks in Conan O'Brien's show, with sneak peaks during other programs on the network. Auto advertising is becoming pretty normal for Funny or Die at this point, though, with the site previously partnering with Fiat for several videos. Check out the ad above and see if you think it works. Scroll down for VW's announcement.
VW builds 250,000th Passat in Chattanooga in just two years
Sun, 26 May 2013It hasn't been without incident or union organizing drive, but the Volkswagen plant in Chattanooga, TN has built its 250,000 Passat in just a little over two years. The Night Blue Passat TDI with black leather has come just two years and five weeks after the first customer car came off the line on April 18, 2011.
In the last year the plant operated at the 150,000-unit capacity that it was intended for, but the downturn in Passat sales and subsequent worker layoffs mean it will be a challenge to repeat the feat. The plant does have the world's largest solar park, though, and you can't take that away from them.
You'll find the official hand-clapping in the press release below.
Skoda unveils Volkswagen Up!-based Citigo
Tue, 27 Sep 2011This is the all-new Skoda Citigo, and if you're thinking that it looks rather familiar, that's because its Volkswagen-badged kin recently debuted at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show. That's right, the long-rumored Skoda version of Volkswagen's new Up! city car has finally arrived.
Buyers will have a choice of two 1.0-liter three-cylinder engines - one with 59 horsepower, the other with a 74 hp and a blistering 106 mph top speed - both mated to a five-speed manual transmission. Powerful they are not, but these three-bangers should prove to be extremely efficient, with Skoda quoting fuel economy numbers of 62.8 and 60.1 miles per gallon, respectively (on the European cycle).
Being a Skoda, the Citigo will go on sale in its home market of the Czech Republic this fall, with the rest of Europe getting the car next summer. Follow the jump for Skoda's official release.
