2003 Volkswagen Passat Glx 4 Motion Sedan 4-door 2.8l No Reserve Auction on 2040-cars
Point Marion, Pennsylvania, United States
No Reserve Auction First bid can own it
Im selling my 2003 Vw Passat GLX 4 motion AWD. It has 76000 miles on it and runs and drives great. The engine is the 2.8 V6 with automatic transmission. The car has heated black leather and power seats, moonroof, cd player with tape player also. The car has every option available except the V8 engine. Everything works except for the power trunk release. I use the key to get in the trunk. The passenger rear door only opens from the inside right now. I was going to pull the door panel off but it has been raining the last couple days. The handle is not broke. I think the rod came loose. I will try and fix it before the car is picked up. The car has new front brake pads and rotors on it. New oil change with Mobile 1 oil. The check engine light is on saying cam position sensor. The sensor is good. From what ive read online the chain tensioner on all these engines loses pressure when parked. So when its started the chain has slack in it and throws the code. It runs perfectly with no bad effects. Im driving threw mostly town and im averaging almost 25 mpg. So if you drive highway then it will be better. The body is almost perfect except it has a scrape on the rear bumper driver side. I took a picture of it to show it. It isn't bad and not really noticeable. The ABS light is on but my scanner wont pick it up. I hear the pump run when the car is started. So its a sensor. The light wasn't on until the pads went bad. So I think it needs cycled or turned off with a scanner then it will be fine. The car is a R title. It was rebuilt by a professional shop at 7000 miles. So there was no back yard work done. There is no evidence of any damage that I can see. It has had almost 70000 miles put on it since it was rebuilt. So any problems would have shown them selves and been fixed by now. The cars low book value is $6700. So its almost half price of low book. You could buy this car and trade it in on a new car and make money.

Porsche board members facing another ˆ1.8B lawsuit over VW takeover bid
Mon, 03 Feb 2014Back in 2008, Porsche got the bright idea that it could take over Volkswagen in the midst of the worst economic slump since the Great Depression. Ignoring that this was a catastrophic move for the Stuttgart sports car manufacturer that that eventually resulted in it nearly going bankrupt and eventually being taken over by the same company it sought to control, the aftermath has left Porsche Chairman Wolfgang Porsche and board member Ferdinand Piëch in the crosshairs of seven hedge funds that lost out during the takeover and are now seeking €1.8 billion - $2.43 billion US - in damages from the two execs, according to the BBC.
See, investors bet on Volkswagen's share price going down, partially because Porsche said it wasn't going to attempt a takeover. But Porsche was attempting to take over VW, having bought up nearly 75-percent of VW's publicly traded shares. When word broke that Porsche owned nearly three-quarters of VW (which indicated an imminent takeover attempt), rather than go down like the hedge funds bet it would, VW's share price skyrocketed to over 1,000 euros per share, according to Reuters.
Naturally, when you bet that a company's share price is going to drop and it in turn (temporarily) becomes the world's most valuable company, you lose a lot of money, unless you're able to buy up shares before prices jump too much. This led to a squeeze on the stock, which the hedge funds accuse Porsche and Piëch (who are both members of the Porsche family and supervisory board) of organizing.
Volkswagen Tiguan and Touareg take the R-Line
Mon, 14 Jan 2013
Volkswagen's Detroit Auto Show presence is big on utility this year, with the CrossBlue three-row concept vehicle occupying the lion's share of the limelight, both literally and figuratively. But that isn't stopping Volkswagen from lavishing attention on its already established crossover and sport utility vehicles with new R-Line derivatives. The Tiguan and its big brother Touareg are getting a host of look-faster items to increase their sporting appeal.
On the outside, the Tiguan R-Line receives handsome 19-inch alloys peering out from beneath fender extensions, premium lighting (bi-Xenon headlamps with LED daytime running lamps), along with matching side skirts and a liftgate spoiler. On the inside, sportier accommodations include aluminum trim and a flat-bottom steering wheel with paddle shifters. As with other R-Line models, there are no powertrain modifications to go with the more aggressive visuals (that being the province of R standalone performance models like the R32), though the suspension has been firmed up an unspecified amount. The Tiguan R-Line will be available in front- or all-wheel drive configuration.
IIHS says these are the safest cars of 2013
Wed, 02 Jan 2013The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has revealed its annual list of Top Safety Picks, an award that highlights automobiles it says offer "superior crash protection." A new and still more significant award, the Top Safety Pick+ honor, is given to those vehicles that earn good ratings for occupant protection in four out of five areas of measure. And while some 117 vehicles were given the TSP seal of approval for 2013, just 13 passed muster for TSP+.
To be fair, IIHS only evaluated 29 vehicles with its new testing procedures for TSP+ (we'd expect that the number of qualified cars will rise substantially for 2014). Luxury and Near Luxury midsize cars were the first groups evaluated, followed by midsizers in the Moderately Priced Cars category - unsurprisingly, it's only midsize cars that you'll find among the class this year.
Only two luxury sedans made the list of 13 for 2013: the Acura TL and Volvo S60. The other 11 cars on the list included entries from domestic, Japanese and German car makers: Dodge Avenger, Chrysler 200, Ford Fusion, Honda Accord (sedan and coupe), Kia Optima (but not its close kin, the Hyundai Sonata, strangely), Nissan Altima, Subaru Legacy and Outback, Suzuki Kizashi and the Volkswagen Passat all made the grade.
