2001 Volkswagen Passat Gls 1.8 Minor Damage on 2040-cars
Moreland, Georgia, United States
This is a super nice 2001 Volkswagen Passat GLS 1.8 sedan. This is my daughters car and she hit a deer and damaged the hood and right front fender and busted the windshield. I just had the major service done (5000 miles ago) at the VW dealership including timing belt, water pump, cam seals, all other belts that needed replacing as well as oil and filter change. The car has very good tires all the way around. The damage was primarily the hood front bumper reinforcement bar and the windshield was cracked when the deer rolled across the hood. Great car, great gas mileage, all service done. EASY FIX. My wife and I gave her my wifes Passat. I simply have no time to fix it. I have included all parts to fix car except one of the corner lights ($10 on ebay), radiator core support ($85 on ebay) and the windshield $200 from most all windshield companies. AS IS, NO WARRANTY OF ANY KIND AND NO RETURNS. Please look at the pictures carefully and bid accordingly. NO whining after the fact. $500 deposit required within 24 hours of auction end and car must be picked up within 5 days of auction end. Questions call Doug at 678 641 3063. |

Touring the Volkswagen Museum in Wolfsburg
Mon, 23 Sep 2013Forgive the ribbon up top - this isn't so much of a Read This as a Look At This. Ran When Parked took a tour of the sprawling Volkswagen Museum in Wolfsburg, and while there's a spot of text about the different and unique vehicles on display in the rotating exhibits, it's largely the collection of pictures of odd, one-off VW-badged cars and vans that excites. If you're a fan of the weird and wild, this is a post you'll want to look at.
As RWP points out, this is the larger, but less busy, museum targeted purely at Volkswagen products. The smaller AutoStadt museum, meanwhile, covers a much broader swath, with products from other Volkswagen Group members. VW Golf Sportsvan succeeds Golf Plus in Frankfurt
Sun, 08 Sep 2013
Just ahead of this week's Frankfurt Motor Show, Volkswagen has announced the world premiere of its Golf Sportsvan, a near-production concept that succeeds its Golf Plus. VW describes this compact family car as "one of the most versatile vehicles of the compact class," noting that it offers a mix of hatchback and minivan features in a sporty package.
That sportiness comes from the Sportsvan's styling (perhaps more sleek wagon than minivan) and performance features it shares with the Golf GTI - including the XDS+ electronic differential lock, which is integrated into the Electronic Stability Control system to improve agility. At the same time, the Sportsvan's six engine options, which include a turbodiesel, are up to 19-percent more fuel-efficient than their predecessors.
Volkswagen unveils sportier Passat Performance Concept ahead of Detroit debut
Fri, 11 Jan 2013Ahead of its official unveiling at next week's Detroit Auto Show, Volkswagen has released some preliminary details and images of its Passat Performance Concept - a car that, as its name suggests, adds a little more spice to the automaker's midsize sedan formula. VW makes no mention of any production intent for this road-ready-looking sedan, simply stating that the Performance Concept is a way to "explore this practical four-door's sportier side."
It certainly doesn't look too sporty, the only visual upgrades being larger 19-inch wheels, dual exhaust, bi-xenon headlamps with VW's Advanced Front Lighting system, LED taillmaps and carbon-look mirror caps. Inside, there are carbon interior accents and two-tone leather upholstery. But no matter, the real upgrades for this mightier Passat are found below the sheetmetal.
Powering the Performance Concept is a 1.8-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, churning out 250 horsepower and sending its grunt to the ground via a six-speed automatic transmission. For reference, that's 80 more horsepower than the Passat's base 2.5-liter inline-five, but 20 horsepower less than the potent 3.6-liter VR6. As for other performance upgrades, Volkswagen has fitted the car with a lowered sport suspension and revamped electronic steering, which should indeed add a bit more dynamic feedback to the already nice-driving sedan.
