1968 Ghia

I have owned this car since around 2000. It is not running at this time and batteries are not charged. This Ghia was put in storage about 5 years ago and has not been driven since. The motor and suspension are made for racing or at least going fast. This has been a wonderful car and I have had tons of compliments but it is not a practical everyday car. Below is the information handed down from the previous owner when I purchased this car. I’m sad to sell it and hope it goes to a great home.

  • Body:  show quality paint (jaguar Carnival Red). Shaved reflectors and license plate holder.  All new rubber throughout (everywhere)

  • Interior:  All new carpet, upholstery and headliner.  Painted dash. shroud system: Pioneer deh-p7200 AM/FM/CD player with detachable face, high power Crossfire amp, combination of MB Quart and Pioneer speakers. Original rebuilt clock and speedometer.  New tachometer, oil temp and oil pressure gauges.

  • Suspension:  narrowed adjustable front axel beam with new bearings, bushings and seals.  Front torsion springs. CB Performance dropped spindles and wheel bearings. German ball joints, tie rod ends, gas shocks all around. Narrowed rear trailing arms with all new bushings, seals and axel bearings.

  • Brakes:  calipers, master cylinder, wheel cylinders, steel lines, rubber lines, drums and rotors.

  • Wheels:  16 X 7 ROH wheels. 205-55-16 Dunlop Sport 8000 tires all around.

  • Drive Line:  Rebuilt CB Performance high horsepower transaxle. The engine is a 2110 with about 25,000 miles on it before the rebuild.  It was balanced, ported, polished and built with the following:  German cases, DMS Crank, Crower connecting rods, CB Performance bare Magnum heads prepared by Mc Carghy Racing Heads, Mahle pistons, dual Dellorto carbs, pre oilier system, dual oil filter system, Gene Berg Type IV oil cooler conversion, oil sump, Gene Berg oil pump 1 5/8 merged header, custom dual Flowmaster exhaust system, New MSD ignition, Kenedy clutch, hydraulic clutch conversion with new master and slave cylinders.

Volkswagen and Funny or Die take humorous spin in 2015 Golf

Wed, 10 Sep 2014

Volkswagen is partnering with Target and Funny or Die in a bizarre ad for the latest Golf starring comedian Rob Huebel, probably best known for his work on Childrens Hospital on Adult Swim.
The commercial is titled The Way Too Helpful Neighbor and stars Huebel as the eponymous neighbor. The challenge is for Huebel to help improve his buddy's apartment before the guy meets his girlfriend's parents for the first time. The obvious way to do that is to slide a new Golf through an actual Target in Texas, while simultaneously showcasing the store's goods and the car's features.
The commercial is airing online now and on TBS during breaks in Conan O'Brien's show, with sneak peaks during other programs on the network. Auto advertising is becoming pretty normal for Funny or Die at this point, though, with the site previously partnering with Fiat for several videos. Check out the ad above and see if you think it works. Scroll down for VW's announcement.

Anti-union group files lawsuit against VW and UAW

Fri, 14 Mar 2014

The fight for unionization at Volkswagen's Chattanooga, TN, factory isn't letting up. Yesterday, the National Labor Relations Board decided to allow anti-United Auto Workers employees at the plant the right to defend voting down the measure. Now, a group called the National Right to Work Foundation has filed a federal lawsuit on behalf of five workers against VW and the UAW for allegedly working together to organize.
The group says in a release that it wants "to block further collusion between the company and the United Auto Workers." It alleges that VW forced workers to attend "mandatory pro-union meetings" and prevented managers from opposing. In a rebuttal on its website, the UAW called the claims "baseless" and said its actions were entirely legal.
One possible problem faces the carmaker in regards to the lawsuit. According to the Detroit Free Press, a recent US Court of Appeals ruling found that neutrality agreements like the one the business had with the UAW could be illegal if the company provided "things of value" to the union. The newspaper also claims that VW held a mandatory employee meeting concerning the election, but workers were free to leave during the UAW's presentation.

Volkswagen formally introduces super-efficient XL1

Mon, 04 Mar 2013

Lightweight and low drag are hallmarks of great sportscar design. But when paired with a super-efficient, hybrid powertrain, you have the Volkswagen's XL1 that has been formally introduced in Geneva today.
When the 1,700-lb, carbon-fiber-bodied two-seater hits the road, its claimed 261 miles per gallon will make it the world's most-fuel-efficient production car. Though "production car" might be a stretch since VW said in a February press release that the XL1 would be built using "handcrafting-like production methods." We translate that to mean you won't be seeing many of these cars on the road. Though no one at VW has mentioned pricing yet, early rumors suggested a six-figure price tag.
That's supercar budget for a vehicle that has a 47-horsepower, two-cylinder diesel engine and a 27hp electric motor. With numbers like that, owners can expect 0-62 mph times of 12.7 seconds and top speed near 100 mph.
