The car has only 10k miles and the Volkswagen factory warranty is good until 6 years or 60,000 miles. There is also a comprehensive warranty (everything on the car) for 36,000 miles. Factory maintenance is included as well until 60,000 miles. This car has bluetooth which is an expensive add-on that is not standard on most Jettas. The bluetooth works for playing music from a phone. Has genuine VW ipod integration with steering wheel control. Can control all radio functions, including volume, using the buttons on the steering wheel. I'm a conservative-driving CPA who needs to sell due to a hand injury which will be preventing me from driving for the next 2 years. This car is very enjoyable to drive, and the two-tone black and light "cornsilk" beige leather interior gets compliments from everyone that gets in the car - the 2 tone interior makes it look quite upscale compared to the more common all black - I had to search rather hard to find this combination.

Torque and acceleration on the big 2.5 litre inline 5 combined with the 6 speed auto trans with sport mode and manual override are also quite nice features. Gets about 27 mpg combined and 33 highway. Cold A/C, All scheduled maintenance, All records, Always garaged, Excellent condition, Fully loaded, Looks & drives great, Mostly highway miles, Never seen snow, New tires, No accidents, One owner, Satellite radio, Still under factory warranty, Title in hand, Very clean interior, Well maintained

Former Porsche CEO Wiedeking indicted over VW takeover bid

Thu, 20 Dec 2012

Do you recall the failed efforts by Porsche to take over Volkswagen? According to a Bloomberg report, former Porsche CEO Wendelin Wiedeking (above) and ex-CFO Holger Haerter have finally been charged with market manipulation over the exercising of options as part of the German sportscar manufacturer's ill-fated attempt to take over the much larger VW. That failed bid eventually resulted in the reverse coming true - VW swallowing Porsche.
The charges leveled by Stuttgart prosecutors come after a three-year investigation centered around allegations that Porsche execs made a concerted effort to increase the company's share in VW to 75 percent in preparation for a hostile takeover. Porsche had previously told its investors on at least five occasions that it had no intention to buy VW.
Portions of the investigation have subsided, according to prosecutors, citing an inability to prove certain improprieties with a "necessary degree of certainty." The number of charges is down to 5 from a previous 14 counts regarding "information-based market manipulation."

VW Golf GTI wrung out by Chris Harris

Thu, 27 Jun 2013

Enthusiasts like nothing more than to crucify modern interpretations of their favorite performance models for failing to live up to some imagined ethos. Even the Volkswagen GTI has suffered its fair share of slings and arrows for growing in size and curb weight. Chris Harris recently spent some time with the all-new MK VII GTI to find out if growing up means giving up on what makes the machine so special.
Judging by his comments, Harris certainly doesn't think so. Yes, the new GTI is considerably more comfortable than its predecessors, but that's hardly a bad thing. The multitude of driving modes actually seem to add depth to the car rather than simply try to force one tool to do many jobs, and Harris even finds the machine's electronic power steering tolerable. As a result, Harris goes so far as to call the Volkswagen GTI "one of the best cars to actually own." How's that for high praise? You can watch the video for yourself by scrolling below.

VW exec calls US ops a 'disaster'

Thu, 23 Jan 2014

Today in the Tell Us How You Really Feel file we have Bernd Osterloh, head of Volkswagen AG's Group Works Councils and member of the company's supervisory board, labeling the company's US operations "a disaster." Why? Because Osterloh believes VW of America doesn't have the models it needs to be competitive here, hasn't been decisive enough about its plans and German higher-ups still don't understand the US market.
In truth, the top labor rep at the German conglomerate is echoing sentiments we've heard from VWoA executives for years, and there's been the same commentary from dealers: Germany doesn't pay enough attention to what the US market really wants. Even ex-VWoA CEO Stefan Jacoby, who preceded the recently departed Jonathan Browning, said early in his tenure that one of his tasks was to get his German bosses to start delivering what the US market demanded. New CEO Michael Horn is saying much the same thing seven years later, telling Sky News that it has to increase "the speed at which we bring new models to the market and innovation to the market."
Osterloh wants to get "more models" here, including a pickup truck, but we'd wonder if the economics have changed from when Jacoby said they'd need to sell 100,000 per year to make money. Osterloh also wants a decision on where the CrossBlue will be built. Although it looked as if the Chatanooga, TN plant would get the call, the Puebla, Mexico plant is still in the running because of lower operating costs. No matter what happens right now, Osterloh thinks the situation won't get better for another two years when revamped models arrive, but at least the company can start taking the steps for a better US future.
