Location:

United States

Love this car and hate to part with it!!  Consistently got about 40+ mpg.  I purchased another car when the transmission started to slip and now really miss the mpg saving!!  This car is a 2003 VW TDI Jetta,  which I purchased  from a seller in Florida.   All the miles that I added to the car were highway miles.   As you can see below the car is being sold because it needs transmission work.   The interior is in great shape.  The seats look new.  All the power windows and doors work like they are suppose to .  The exterior looks good for the car's age with the exception of the peeling clear coat on the roof.

Needs transmission work - slipping
200611 miles
auto transmission (not a manual transmission)
1.9 TDI

MECHANICAL:
-NEEDS TRANSMISSION WORK

INTERIOR:
-the interior is in great shape.
-seats and carpet in good condition for the age of the car.
-glove box, arm rest, ash tray are clean and functional
- power windows/doors all work great

EXTERIOR:
The paint is nice and shiny.  There are a few area where the clear-coat is peeling (most noticeably on the roof)
Antenna looks good.
It does have a couple of surface scratches that are to be expected on any 10 yr old car
The rest of the paint is pretty shiny and I didn't notice any other issues.

As with all used car sales (and more so with broken cars) this car is sold as-is and where is.  I make no guarantees to anything.

THIS IS THE PREFECT CAR FOR SOMEONE WHO WANTS A FIXER UPPER TDI WHICH GOT INCREDIBLE MPG

VW confirms Golf GTD diesel coming to US for 2016

Wed, 03 Jul 2013

Part of the Volkswagen Golf recipe that has helped the car sell more than 30 million units in just under 40 years is the number of variants in which the hatchback is offered. Building on that range here in the US, Automotive News is reporting that we will finally be getting the sporty Golf GTD, likely as a 2016 model. It's the GTD, you'll recall, that crosses the performance abilities of the venerable GTI with a powerful and fuel-efficient diesel engine.
After speaking with Andreas Valbuena, Volkswagen product manager for the Golf, AN not only says that the GTD will for sale in the US in a couple years, it also estimates a baseline price of around $27,000, which would place it between the current pricing for the GTI and the Golf R. The GTD is launching in Europe this summer, but we won't be getting the seventh-generation Golf in the US for another year. The news about the performance diesel model isn't entirely unexpected - VW officials have been hinting at it for at least a year now, going so far as to import a sixth-generation model for media test drives on US soil, a task we happily took them up on last year.
The Mk VII GTD uses VW's 2.0-liter TDI engine with output increased to 184 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque, allowing the car to sprint to 60 miles per hour in about seven seconds while returning more than 40 mpg in highway driving. We can't wait.

New VW Beetle Convertible ad needs no disguise

Mon, 18 Feb 2013

Convertibles make you do funny things. Ask someone if they'd drive a hardtop in near freezing temperatures with all the windows down and they might not even answer, thinking the question so ridiculous. Give that same person a convertible they love and you might just have to ask them to please put the top up even when snow is on the ground.
That guy has to take precautions to enjoy his proclivities, and as this new ad for the Volkswagen Beetle Convertible shows, not everyone understands. Have a watch below, and note that there's just one woman in the minute-long spot, and she's nowhere near the car. Seriously, why didn't VW run this commercial during the Super Bowl?

Volkswagen lays off 500 Chattanooga workers

Fri, 19 Apr 2013

The redesigned Volkswagen Passat has been a decent seller since its debut in 2011, but sales have apparently dropped off enough that the automaker is trimming some of the employees from its Chattanooga, TN assembly plant. According to Automotive News, Volkswagen will be cutting shifts and laying off 500 contracted workers in response to slowing sales.
Currently, the plant has three teams running 10-hour shifts Monday through Saturday, but starting May 13, this will be reduced down to two teams running 10-hour shifts Monday through Thursday. This will be done to reduce dealer inventory (the article says that VW dealers, on average, have a 97-day supply of Passats) and production capacity (currently running at an annual pace of 170,000 units, which is more than the 150,000 annual units the plant was planned to produce).
This, of course, isn't saying that the Passat has been a failure since VW added 200 full-time employees to the plant in February 2012 to keep up with increased demand. The AN article says that automakers frequently overstaff plants during the launch of a new product - or in this case, a new product and a new plant - but eventually reduce the workers as things run smoother and more efficiently.
