2002 Volkwagen Gti Vr6 on 2040-cars

Up for auction is a nice two owner Volkswagen GTI that needs the head reworked. I bought it in 2012 with 102,000 miles as a daily driver from the original owner. I drove it about a year and then the check engine light came on. I put a diagnostic tester on it and it came back with a bad camshaft position sensor. I changed it, reset the codes, and drove it about another month and then the check engine light came back on. I did some research online and determined that it was probably the timing chain guide rails were broke and the chain had probably skipped a tooth somewhere. I tore into her and sure enough the phenolic guides were broken and laying down by the crankshaft. I changed it all, put it back together and she ran like a new car. A couple months later I was on my way to work and the engine just died. I towed it back to the house and tore into it again and discovered the intermediate sprocket bolt had backed out and the valves were bent. I took the head to a local shop and had them rework it. I put it all back together, making sure I changed the sprocket bolt, put extra lock tight, and torqued it to the highest torque value. She ran great again. About 3 months later the same thing happened. The engine just died on me. I pulled it back apart and sure enough the bolt backed out again and the valves are bent. At this point I have bought a new car and would like this one to go to a good home that will get her back on the road. I would recommend to either have the insert replaced in the block or tack weld the bolt once it's torqued. Below are some items that have been replaced while I've had her. If you have any questions feel free to message me. New timing chain, timing chain guides, camshaft position sensor, coil pack, fuel injectors, battery, AEM cold air intake, spark plugs and wires, rear main seal, good year eagle GT tires with less than 500 miles |

VW debuts Get Happy Super Bowl ad
Mon, 28 Jan 2013
Brace yourself for another tidal wave of Super Bowl commercials. Volkswagen has released its spot for this year's big game. Set to air during the second quarter, the Get Happy spot follows one jubilant office worker as he makes his way through the day, spreading joy wherever he goes. The source of his happiness? A Volkswagen Beetle, of course. Now, if you're wondering why a gaggle of white guys are running around on your screen with Jamaican accents, it will help to know the spot is part of a larger Get Happy campaign featuring Jimmy Cliff.
The first ad in the series featured the artist singing his rendition of "C'Mon, Get Happy," complete with a little help from some notorious unhappy YouTube stars. You can take a look at the new ad before it airs below, along with the complete press release for a little more background.
VW, Suzuki mulling rekindling relationship in face of legal battle
Sat, 27 Jul 2013Volkswagen and Suzuki have been undergoing marriage counseling in a bid to avoid finalizing their nasty divorce. The blissful union has been troubled for some time, with Volkswagen claiming that it could affect operational decisions at Suzuki, and the Japanese brand's sniping and constant flirting with a certain Italian temptress causing rifts.
The matter first went to court in 2012, when Suzuki demanded VW get out, and leave its 19.9-percent stake in the Japanese brand in a box to the left. Now, Automotive News is reporting that the company will give the relationship one last shot, according to closed-door dealings between the two in London.
Still, it's understood that VW and Suzuki recognize the benefit of their alliance, and that it'd be in the best interests of the kids both parties to make things work. Spokespeople declined to comment to AN, but the newsmagazine spoke with Frank Biller, an analyst for LBBW in Stuttgart, who said, "Both companies stand to benefit if they can overcome the disagreements over leadership claims."
