2001 Vw Golf Tdi on 2040-cars
Hayesville, North Carolina, United States
Golf TDI. 250K miles. 2 door hatchback. Automatic transmission. Power steering, door locks. Cruise control. AM/FM with Cassette and CD player. Interior is worn out. I put black cloth seats in. They are OK, except drivers left side has a pick. glove box door broken. I have replaced within the last year the A/C system, the brakes, the front wheel bearings, alternator, battery, headlights to HID. Since owned I have replaced the front and rear shocks, put on a Panzer plate, race pipe, ventectomy, had it tuned and various other upgrades. At this point in time I am not willing to invest another 1500 in fixing the current list of needed repairs. That list includes, but is not limited to, a timing belt, water pump, injector pump seals, both elec fans, brake flush, windsheild fluid system and pulleys. That list adds up to $1,378 as reported by a TDI repair man. The tires are 6 months old, but one is worn on inside due to the shop not getting the wheel bearing nut tight when it was changed. The car does start up and run. I don't want to drive it anymore. The injector pump leaks diesel and the water pump, or thermostat leaks fluid. Also a pulley sounds bad. So basically what you have is a car that need alot of work to use or a parts car. Feel free to drive it, or run it in the garage. This is an AS IS Where is deal.

Chrysler slows minivan production, hasn't built VW Routan this year
Wed, 13 Mar 2013Chrysler has slowed production of its Town and Country and Dodge Grand Caravan minivans this week, Automotive News reports. The Windsor, Ontario plant will cut its three shifts from eight hours each to four hours each in an effort "to align production with market demand," a Chrysler spokesperson told AN. Chrysler also builds the closely related Routan minivan for Volkswagen at its Ontario facility, but has not built a single example thus far in 2013.
Sales of Chrysler's minivans fell 15 percent for the first two months of 2013, and a large part of that has to do with the 26-percent drop of the Grand Caravan alone (the T&C was only down by one percent). According to Automotive News data, as of March 1, Chrysler had an unsold inventory of 24,713 Town and Country models and 18,547 Grand Caravans - a 69- and 43-day supply, respectively.
"No sense running full speed now, then have a lot of vehicles sitting around a few months down the line," Chrysler spokeswoman Jodi Tinson told AN. Full production is expected to resume again on March 18.
VW announces recall of 26,000 2014 models with 1.8T engines
Tue, 22 Apr 2014Volkswagen has followed up on a stop-sale order from earlier this month, announcing a voluntarily recall of 26,400 vehicles that are powered by the brand's 1.8-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder engine. The new mill replaced the despised 2.5-liter five-cylinder in the Jetta, Passat, Beetle and Beetle Convertible last year. Weirdly, though, of the 26,452 units covered in the recall, only 1,655 are customer vehicles.
According to VW, the affected models were built between February 1 and April 6 of this year, and feature bad O-ring seals in the transmission oil cooler. Apparently, the faulty O-rings could cause a fluid leak, as they won't seal between the oil cooler and transmission. VW is blaming a material change from a supplier for the problem.
There have been no fires, injuries, accidents or fatalities relating to this issue, which VW will be fixing free of charge. Customers will need to report to dealers to have the O-rings replaced.
2014 Volkswagen Beetle Convertible gets the R-Line treatment
Thu, 07 Feb 2013Volkswagen just launched the topless Beetle Convertible at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November, but we're already seeing the next step forward in the topless Bug range with this, the R-Line. We'll admit, this treatment falls under the "all show and no go" category, but it's still a pretty potent little cutie.
The R-Line starts with a standard Beetle Turbo Convertible but adds unique 19-inch aluminum wheels on lower-profile tires, LED daytime running lamps and Xenon headlamps. Naturally, there are R-Line badges aplenty both on the interior and exterior, and we must say, the whole package looks pretty darn snazzy.
Pricing has yet to be announced, but when it goes on sale later this year, the hotter convertible will join Volkswagen's growing R-Line portfolio that now includes the CC, Beetle hatch, Tiguan and Touareg.
