1993 VW Golf 4 Door with Many Upgrades!!
Yes it has high mileage but it still is a very strong runner, doesn't burn oil and has many upgrades. A perfect starting point for a rebuild for street or track or run it for another 200K.
The good:
All mechanical work performed by certified mechanics
Techtonics Tuning EPROM high performance computer chip OBD I v1e F(currently not installed because it requires premium gas, it is installed in seperate computer housing so it is an easy swap)
Full Techtonics Tuning 2.5 catback performance exhaust with 50 series Flowmaster new resonator
New cat installed
Techtonics Tuning short shifter kit and shifter bushings
Techtonics Tuning 268 degree performance camshaft
Lowered 2" with newer struts
Newer aftermarket wheels and tires
Newer brakes, calipers and wheel bearings
New oxygen sensor and temperature sensor
New heater core
Newer timing belt
Newer Distributor cap, rotor and Bosch plug wires, fuel filter, K&N air filter, spark plugs,
New alternator
Aftermarket steering wheel
Interior was completely redone with new dash, headliner, door panels, newer used leather seats (tears at the seams and not in the leather so easy fix)
New hood that needs paint and installation
New windshield and tinted windows
Very straight body with no accidents
Full stereo with aftermarket power amp and subwoofer
The not so good:
High mileage but runs and drives great, no oil consumption
Typical road rash on paint
Cracks in leather seats and the seams have separated but seams are an easy fix
The speaker in the left rear door is removed because it was cutting out,.Due to surgery I haven't been able to put it back in yet.
It has a Yakima rack on it and my son lost the key so the locks will have to be drilled out to remove it
It has been licensed in Southern Oregon so it hasn't been through DEQ so I don't know if it will pass DEQ in Portland or other states. I know it will not pass DEQ with the EPROM chip installed.

Brazil contemplates safety exemption for VW Kombi as it goes out of production today [w/poll]
Tue, 31 Dec 2013Brazil: the country of carnivals, indescribable beauty adjacent to abject poverty, Ayrton Senna and old Volkswagen models. Only they're not old - they're new, they're just based on old designs. The original Beetle continued production there long after it had been phased out elsewhere, but the original Kombi van has lasted much longer. That ends today, however, with the iconic VW Microbus ambling out of production on the last day of 2013.
VW kept making the van in Brazil with the original air-cooled 1.2-liter boxer four until 2005, after which the original design was updated with a 1.4-liter water-cooled engine. Today, however, it ultimately falls prey to safety regulations that mandate that all vehicles - no matter how old their design - need to have airbags and ABS, forcing Volkswagen do Brasil to cease production of the Microbus after a 56-year production run. But the latest word is that the Kombi (as it's presently known) could get a stay of execution - or at least a resurrection in short order.
According to reports, the Brazilian government is looking into granting the Type 2 Microbus an exemption from said safety regulations, reasoning that the van was designed long before the advent of airbags and ABS. If the measure goes through, the Kombi Last Edition (pictured above) could prove not to be the last at all. So what do you think, should the Microbus get an exemption from Brazilian safety regulations for nostalgia's sake? Vote in our poll below, then have your say in Comments.
Volkswagen Passat gets Wolfsburg Edition, priced from $23,495*
Tue, 23 Apr 2013Volkswagen has just announced a new Passat Wolfsburg Edition, which slots between the base S and mid-grade SE trims in terms of content and price. The automaker has not released any official photos of the car as of this writing (aside from the badge shot you see here, of course), but the Wolfsburg Passat will be visually set apart from the rest by a unique set of 16-inch alloy wheels.
The big host of upgrades for the Wolfsburg Edition are found inside, where buyers will enjoy standard amenities like leatherette seats (with bun-warmers on the front chairs), a power driver's seat, satellite radio and a media interface with iPod connectivity. Of course, this comes on top of the already standard Passat features like Bluetooth and auto on/off headlamps. The Wolfsburg Passat will only be available with the 2.5-liter five-cylinder engine and a six-speed automatic transmission.
Look for the 2013 Wolfsburg Edition Passat to hit dealerships in the very near future, priced from $23,495, *not including $795 for destination. Have a look below for Volkswagen's official press blast.
Porsche 911 with VW turbodiesel prepares for LeMons assault
Fri, 21 Mar 2014LeMons racing is a wonderful example that setting limits can actually breed creativity. The series mandates that all entries must cost $500, not counting safety equipment, and that cap forces teams to be ingenious in how they build a racecar. Take for example this diesel-powered Porsche 911, which its creators have dubbed Ferkel the Nein-11, that will be racing in the Sears Pointless race this weekend in Sonoma, California.
This Frankenstein combines a 911 chassis that was originally bought just for its European powertrain and a Volkswagen TDI diesel engine mounted in the rear. After deciding the shell could still be of some use, the team decided to go racing. "We began brainstorming what replacement drivetrain to use for maximum offense and there was really only one answer: a diesel," said Philipp von Weitershausen, one of the team captains, to Jalopnik. They bought a 1998 Jetta TDI on the cheap and started figuring out a way to hack the engine into the bay. To pay respect to the donor, the VW's trunk was highly modified (and drilled) and grafted onto the back of Ferkel.
This team isn't a newcomer to LeMons. Its last car was a classic VW Beetle with a Subaru engine and dual controls, named Ferdinand the Bug, which could be driven from the left or right side. It's quite a sight.
