This car is my daily driver, I have put nearly 5k miles on it in the past few months without any problems Please read the entire build thread! This car is the real deal CALIFORNIA CAR!! Every nut and bolt has been removed from the body car and that part or parts were upgraded or new parts put on. There's about 8k miles on the current set up. All glass (except pop outs) have factory etched vin in them. Roughly 250 hp due to others with same build. Everything was done right no corners cut. Full air ride suspension all front suspension replaced, and balljoint extenders added to keep camber correct. BBS RS 3 piece wheels with custom made lips. Rebuilt 2.0L block with 1.8L 16v head port and polished and fully rebuilt. Frontmout intercooler 50mm euro intake 440 injectors bbm fuel rail 68mm pulley Autotech Street cams Autotech 4-1 header silicone coolant hoses from head to oil cooler to water pump. Rebuilt G60 charger Race version of greddy blow off valve ($300 blow off valve!) Rebuilt 20a with LS Diff, re sealed, and upgraded to cable shift out of a mk4 o2m TDI 5th gear new stage 2 clutch and light weight flywheel Hippach pop out rear windows Audi pop up sunroof. Rebuilt Recaro Trophy seats with power added power windows Rare 16v steering wheel Rare Eibach front stress bar. Upgraded fuel pump for high flow high pressure. Corrado big brake upgrade SS brake lines. Pioneer stereo with hidden sub and Ipod hook up Dual head light grill and quad round grill Roof has been professionally vinyl wrapped gloss black with in the past month I had a light coat of tint applied to the windshield when I had the vinyl wrap done I had the car professionally detailed with in the past month Brand new Toyo Proxy's There's so much more that has been done to this car the list would be to long, check out the build thread at the bottom on this post. I also have a whole spare 16v PL motor with 50k original miles, new full gasket kit, new oil pan, and new dipstick that I got a good deal on and could go too. Audi investing $30.3 billion through 2018 for product expansion
Sun, 29 Dec 2013How does Audi plan to reach two million units in annual sales and pay for the 11 new models it's adding to its lineup - an expansion that may include models named SQ2, Q9 and F-Tron? By increasing its investment to 22 billion euros ($30.3 billion US) between now and 2018. That figure represents an increase of about 500 million euros over the previously planned outlay, according to a report by Automotive News, and that could be due to Audi wishing to goad the momentum that pushed it to 1.5 million annual sales two years ahead of schedule.
It's also about staving off the challenges from BMW and Mercedes-Benz. Now that BMW has been able to turn some of its attention away from its "i" series of Megacity cars, it will reportedly spend more than planned in 2014 as it continues the rollout of ten all-new vehicles and 15 new-generation vehicles through the end of next year. Mercedes, having been dropped to third in the sales race, is preparing to add 13 new cars over the next six years.
Audi's money is going into technology, into product like the next-generation TT and the Q1 and production expansions and upgrades all over the world. The expenditure represents just under a fourth of Volkswagen's 84.2 billion-euro ($115.7 US) outlay devoted to taking the number-one global automaker title away from General Motors and Toyota by 2018.
1000-hp Mk1 VW Golf is terrifyingly cool
Tue, 04 Jun 2013There are plenty of things to love about the Mk1 Volkswgen Golf. The machine's horsepower isn't one of them. From the factory, the little hatch cranked a breathy 112 horsepower from the most robust form of its 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine. Boba motoring, however, has taken that figure and multiplied it by a factor of nearly 10. If 1,000 horsepower sounds terrifying in a machine with a wheelbase of just 94.5 inches, it should. A massive Garrett GTX4202R turbo force-feeds the little mill through a tweaked 16-valve KR head. The crew calls the beast the 16Vampir, and we think that's fitting.
Of course, we'd wager you quit reading right about the time you set your eyes on that headline. Those of you who've stuck around this long can point yourselves below to see the maniacal creation in action. You won't be disappointed.
Touring the Volkswagen Museum in Wolfsburg

Ran When Parked took a tour of the sprawling Volkswagen Museum in Wolfsburg, and while there's a spot of text about the different and unique vehicles on display in the rotating exhibits, it's largely the collection of pictures of odd, one-off VW-badged cars and vans that excites. If you're a fan of the weird and wild, this is a post you'll want to look at.
As RWP points out, this is the larger, but less busy, museum targeted purely at Volkswagen products.
