SO I THOUGHT I WOULD GO OUTSIDE THE BOX TO SHOW PEOPLE THERE ARE OTHER VW'S TO USE.NOW THE VAN IT SELF I'M THE SECOND OWNER OF THIS VW,IT WAS PURCHASED AT OUR LOCAL VW DEALER BY WACOSA A COMPANY THAT HELPS DISABLED PEOPLE.THEY TRADE IT TO A LOCAL CAR LOT WERE I BOUGHT IT FROM.I HAVE DONE OTHER VW PROJECTS LIKE MADE A PICKUP RAT-ROD FROM A SUPER BEETLE AND DID A 1950'S CUSTOM LOOK TO A 1967 VW GHIA SUCH AS PUTTING IN 39 FORD HEADLIGHTS AND 59 CADDY TAILIGHTS AND MADE FENDER SKIRTS FOR THAT.BUT I ALLWAYS WANTED TO SHORTEN A VW BUS SO HERE IT IS.IF YOU LOOK I EVEN SHORTENED THE NAME ON THE BACK FROM--EUROVAN GL TO EVAN GL------NOW I DID NOT WANT TO GO TO SHORT OR YOU WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO DRIVE IT ON THE HIGHWAYS? THE VAN IS ALSO LOWERED ABOUT 3 INCHES AND HAS NEW EXHAUST FROM THE CAT BACK WITH A THRUSH GLASS PACK FOR A MUFFLER.THIS VAN WILL CRUZ 75 MPH WITH NO PROBLEM,NOW THE VAN HAS ALL NEW REAR BRAKE SHOES,WHEEL CYL,HARDWARE KITS AND NEW BRAKE LINES TO REAR ALSO REPLACED THE FRONT PADS,SO THE INTERIOR IS STOCK AND HAS SOME WEAR,THE BODY WORK AND PAINT ARE NOT PERFECT BUT NICE .IT'S A GOOD DAILY DRIVER THAT YOU DON'T NEED TO WORRY ABOUT IN A PARKING LOT,BUT I THINK IT WOULD LOOK REAL NICE WITH CUSTOM INTERIOR AND WHEELS? VW's Winterkorn tells 20,000 staffers of big cost-cutting plans
Thu, 24 Jul 2014During a gathering of 20,000 Volkswagen Group employees at company headquarters in Wolfsburg, Germany on Wednesday, CEO Martin Winterkorn dropped a bombshell. The boss stated that the automaker isn't operating efficiently enough and admitted the company needs to radically start cutting back to raise its profit margins. To right the ship, Winterkorn has proposed killing off less profitable models and spending less on research and development.
According to Reuters, Winterkorn wants to raise the VW brand's profit margin from about 2.9 percent in 2013 to a target of 6 percent. To make that possible, his plan amounts to increasing cost cutting until Volkswagen reaches about 5 billion euros ($6.7 billion) per year to get things back in order. "Over the short-term, we urgently need more efficiency and higher profit," the CEO said during his speech, according to Reuters.
However, Winterkorn can't make these decisions unilaterally. Volkswagen's works council also has a seat on the supervisory board to represent laborers, and it isn't likely to take the proposed cuts sitting down.
Skoda racing Up! to Worthersee with Citigo Rally concept
Thu, 17 May 2012If you thought the Volkswagen Group was about to wind down the endless stream of concept cars based on the new Up! city car, think again. Because not only is the Volkswagen brand itself keeping the train a-moving, so are its sister brands.
Skoda has its own version of the Up called the Citigo. But what racing fans know the Czech subsidiary for best is its rally program that has become a dominant force in the Intercontinental Rally Challenge and the basis for VW's own foray into the World Rally Championship. Now Skoda is bringing the two together with an exciting concept car previewed by the rendering above and confirmed in the press release below.
Following in the footsteps of the tantalizing Fabia roadster unveiled last year, the Citigo Rally concept is to be the centerpiece of the Skoda display at the Volkswagen Group's annual hot-hatch gathering at Lake Wörthersee in Austria. Details are scarce, but the show car will feature rally-inspired bodywork complete with 18-inch white alloys packed into aggressively flared wheel arches, a substantial rear wing and vents aplenty.

Ran When Parked took a tour of the sprawling Volkswagen Museum in Wolfsburg, and while there's a spot of text about the different and unique vehicles on display in the rotating exhibits, it's largely the collection of pictures of odd, one-off VW-badged cars and vans that excites.
