You are bidding on my 1987 Volkswagon Vanagon GL. It is my daily driver. It runs excellent and is sure to give a new owner the best of service.
It has, (4) Brand NEW, only 25 miles on them Firestone Winterstorm Tires size 205/75R14 all around. The spare tire under the vehicle is in very good condition. The color is brown with a tan interior. I have removed the center carpet and replaced it with a very nice wood looking linoleum flooring. Also a throw rug for affect. The remainder of the carpet in the rear compartment is in good condition and upfront in the driver/passenger area it is good but stained. I have installed (2) new rubber mats upfront also.
The driver/passenger seats are very good and so is therear bench seats with NO tears. Driver/Passenger front seats are well lubricated and adjust easily. Glass all around the vehicle is perfect with NO cracks or dings. The body is solid with NO rust at all. The floors are solid and do NOT have any holes. The 4 speed manual transmission shifts easily and has a brand new clutch. All interior lights in the front and back work just fine. All headlights and tail lights and turn signals work as they should. Horn and windshield wipers perform as expected. Windows crank up and down with no problem and the outside mirrors are not cracked. The headliner is nearperfect with NO tears at all. The front disc brakes have been replaced and the rear brakes are ok but should be replaced. I have new rear brake shoes and brand new rear brake drums that will come with the Vanagon. I have decided to sell it so I'm not going to do the job. If there is no winning bidder than I will do the work. Rest assure the brakes on it work fine. Changing them out is just part of my restoration of the Vanagon. Additionally I have an extra exhaust system that will come with the Vanagon also. I got it at an auction because it was cheap and its always a good idea to have spares.
The mileage is as stated given a few more miles because the odometer stopped working a month ago. This vehicle has been garaged kept for most of its life. Be it an around town car or highway car, this Vanagon gets the job done and will not let you down. Thanks for bidding.
NO WARRANTY IS EXPRESSED OR GIVEN. THE VANAGON IS BEING SOLD AS IS AND THE SALE IS FINAL. PAYMENT IS DUE AT AUCTIONS END. PAYMENT IS ACCEPTED IN THE FORM OF CASH IN PERSON OR A BANK CHECK FROM A USA BANK ONLY. NO PAYPAL AT ALL. Former Porsche boss Wiedeking won't face criminal charges over VW bid
Mon, 28 Apr 2014Hedge fund managers have been suing Porsche for years now, alleging that the car company lied about its intentions during its failed attempt to take over Volkswagen, a gambit that caused them billion in losses. Over the same period, authorities in Stuttgart built a criminal case against former CEO Wendelin Wiedeking (above, left) and Chief Financial Officer Holger Härter (right), filing charges in December 2012. When those fund plaintiffs lost their most recent court case, one of the dimming lights in the dark and receding tunnel was that the criminal investigation might unearth more evidence about Porsche's actions that could help the plaintiffs in pending litigation.
Bloomberg reports that another light has gone out, though, with a Stuttgart court dismissing the market manipulation case before going to trial because, as a court spokesperson said, "there wasn't enough evidence backing up the charges." When prosecutors get the files back from the court, they have a week to decide to refile, but unless they've been sandbagging evidence that could bolster the case, the only lights at the end of the tunnel will be those welcoming Wiedeking and Härter back to the world of legally unencumbered men.
VW to unveil diesel-electric Twin-Up! in Tokyo
Fri, 08 Nov 2013We've received multiple reports that Volkswagen will be bringing a diesel-electric concept to the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show, set to take place later this month. The car, called the Twin-Up!, is based on the Up! city car, with some sources claiming this is a thinly veiled concept that will eventually enter production.
According to Automotive News Europe, the Twin-Up! will reportedly return 214 miles per gallon on the US cycle by combining an 800-cc, two-cylinder diesel and an electric motor. It will also boast plug-in capabilities, and will be able to cover 30 miles on electric power alone.
Autocar has a more complete picture of the Twin-Up!'s powertrain, though, claiming it's a modified version of the hybrid system found in the Volkswagen XL1. The Twin-Up! will get a more potent, 47-horsepower electric motor to the XL1's 27-hp unit, but will retain that car's 47-hp turbodiesel. The battery pack will also grow, from 5.5 kilowatt hours to 8.6 kWh. Both of these increases are necessary due to the increased weight of the Twin-Up! - it's some 900 pounds heavier than an XL1.
Volkswagen iBeetle gets integrated iPhone dock, little else
Fri, 19 Apr 2013Apple fans have been itching to see the tech giant flex the full muscle of its iOS operating system in an automotive infotainment system for years, which is why we turned all sorts of excited when we caught wind of the Volkswagen iBeetle. The machine is headed to the Shanghai Motor Show for a debut, and VW promised it would be one of the "first cars in the world to have a genuine integrative interface for the iPhone that was coordinated with Apple." Listen closely, and you can hear the contented sigh of a million wallets opening.
Go ahead and close those up, kids.
In reality, the iBeetle offers little more than a dash-mounted dock and a special app that shows a few vehicle functions, which is about as far from an infotainment revolution as you're likely to find. In fact, the setup is little more than a factory rehash of aftermarket items, and hardly worth a whole model debut at an international motor show. And that's to say nothing of the fact that Apple relishes in changing the shape and form of its darling handheld at every generation. Volkswagen better be prepared to keep pace with appropriate docking mechanisms for the upcoming iPhone 5S, 6, 6S, et al.
