1991 Volkswagen Vanagon Carat Standard Passenger Van 3-door 2.1l on 2040-cars
Denver, Colorado, United States
1991 VW Vanagon GL with Carat accessories. 2.1 liter flat four wasserboxer, 4 speed manual, power windows, door locks, runs and drives great, seats seven, rear seat folds down into a full size bed. This is a none smoking vehicle. There are no fluid leaks. This is the best driving vanagon I have driven, very strong and stable. I have every confidence that this could be driven anywhere without issue.
This was the last year these were imported into the US. I have owned the van for 5 years and have done all repairs and preventative maintenance needed. Some of the repairs include; -major service; all belts, fluids and filters (all OEM/German parts) -all engine oil and coolant sensors -two sets of Nokian C rated tires all in great shape (as pictured; winters on steel wheels and summers on alloys) -steering rack, tie rods, power steering pump followed by an alignment -water pump and t-stat -HD Bilstien shocks, front and rear -O2 sensor -cruis control actuator pod -front and rear brakes The stereo has been upgraded to a Blaupunkt 420 Toronto BT, with Bluetooth connection and USB port, detachable face, CD player, wired with a microphone for hands free calling(see mic above drivers visor in photo). The windshield has a chip, the A/C compressor works when charged, but is weak, the paint is not perfect. The front left corner has body repair that appears superficial and not structural. I have tried to photograph details of all the areas, but if you would like to see anything in better detail I am happy to take more pictures and email them to you. The winning bidder will be responsible for pick up of the vehicle. I can arrange to drive the van to Denver International Airport for anyone flying in to drive it home. The payment will need to clear before I sign the title. The plates will NOT go with the van. |

World Car Of The Year down to its final four
Wed, 13 Mar 2013
Judges for the World Car of the Year Award have narrowed down the finalists to just four vehicles. Out of a total of 42 entries, only the Mercedes-Benz A-Class, Porsche Boxster/Cayman, Scion FR-S/Subaru BRZ/Toyota GT-86 and Volkswagen Golf remain standing. For Volkswagen, this marks the second consecutive year the company has had an entry among the finalists, and the fourth time since 2009. In order to qualify, a vehicle must be on sale on two continents during the span of time between January 1, 2013 and May 30, 2013. A panel of 66 journalists from 23 countries then vote on the finalists.
Three vehicles have made the cut for the last round of voting on the 2013 World Performance Car as well, with the Cayman/Boxster and FR-S/BRZ/GT-86 running against the Ferrari F12 Berlinetta. Meanwhile, the Renault Zoe, Tesla Model S and Volvo V60 Plug-In Hybrid are duking it out for the World Green Car Award. Finally, the World Car Design of the Year Award is up for grabs between the Aston Martin Vanquish, Jaguar F-Type, and the Mazda6. Check out the full press release below. Overall winners will be presented at the 2013 New York Auto Show.
2014 Volkswagen Beetle GSR is black and yellow, black and yellow
Thu, 07 Feb 2013Way back in 1973, Volkswagen decided it was high time to take the loveable air-cooled Bug racing. No, it wasn't painted in Herbie colors - Volkswagen called its sport-tuned machine the Beetle GSR, "Gelb Schwarzer Renner" or "Yellow Black Racer." Hence, the somewhat shocking paint scheme.
VW is bringing its sporty black and yellow Beetle back for 2014, and you can see live photos of it above. It's got a 210-horsepower turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine under the hood (that'd be the hood up front, unlike the car's forebear), and a six-speed manual or DSG automatic transmission sends those ponies to the front wheels. Note that this car's output is up 10 horses on other turbo VWs, and the Jetta GLI and Beetle Turbo for 2013. The 0-60 run takes 6.6 seconds, and top speed is limited to 130 miles per hour.
Besides the in-your-face black and yellow paint, the GSR is outfitted with a large rear spoiler and 19-inch wheels shod with 235/40 tires. The bee-like hue carries over inside, with yellow stitching on black leather. Only 3,500 will be produced, each with its own unique plaque. Pricing has not yet been announced, but you're free to read through the press release below all the same.
Volkswagen Cross Up! headed for production after Geneva reveal
Wed, 13 Feb 2013The last time we saw the Volkswagen Cross Up!, it was sitting out in the snow in prototype form, but the next time we'll see this slightly more rugged version of the diminutive Up! hatchback will be when it makes its production debut at the Geneva Motor Show next month. Looking like a micro-crossover with its raised ground clearance and black cladding, the Cross Up! will be the fourth "Cross" model for VW (after the CrossPolo, CrossGolf and CrossTouran) when it goes on sale this summer in mainland Europe (UK sales remain up in the air and US sales are highly unlikely).
Overall, the styling of the production Cross Up! has stayed fairly true to the 2011 concept car, including the front and rear fascias that offer a more rugged look, stocky 16-inch wheels and roof rack side rails. Inside, this model will get unique interior enhancements such as "Cross Up!" sill plates and an instrument panel available in red, black or silver. Like the regular Up!, the Cross Up! is powered by a 74-horsepower, 1.0-liter three-cylinder engine paired to a five-speed manual transmission, and it doesn't look like all-wheel drive will be part of the picture. For more details on the upcoming Cross Up!, check out VW's press release posted below.
