1970 Volkswagen Westfalia Campmobile European Export. Please look at the photos carefully before bidding on this vehicle. We have tried to photograph all the problem areas of this bus so that there are no surprises when you buy it. First off this is a project vehicle. I have driven this bus and it starts and moves under its own power. The brakes have had rebuild kits in the cylinders and the system works like it should and there are no leaks. This bus does have some rust as shown in the photos but it is what I would consider minor. This bus was repainted years ago and is not the original color. The original green color can be seen in the door jams and dash area and is in great shape. Under the white respray you can see a few areas that have body filler in them. The decklid has the most body filler but the nose and the slider also have some spots that filler is noticeable. The long wall along the rocker has some rust and evidence of a prior repair. Belly pans are solid as are the outriggers and jacking points. Rear bumper is not original to the bus but is correct. Rear bumper trim is also included but needs bolts replaced and are in fair condition. Bus has Jailbars (original to the bus) in the back window and the camper interior is complete but has been recovered. Tent on the poptop needs to be replaced. Top has a new seal on the poptop portion of the camper top. Windshield is cracked. Tires hold air but I would recommend new tires. There is a new battery in the bus and the motor fires right up. Motor is a used 1600 Dual Port and has a small oil leak. I have no idea how many miles are on the motor but it runs good and has plenty of power. The exhaust that is on the bus is type 1 but there is a type 2 muffler in the bus that is usable. The rear apron is shown in the photos in the back of the bus. Needs a few parts in the engine compartment like part of the original air cleaner and some tin. Gas heater is pictured and is original to the bus. The heater is currently not hooked up and I have not tested it but it appears to be complete. If you have any questions about this bus pleas feel free to email me and I will try and answer them the best I can. I am happy to help with shipping on my end but shipping is to be arranged and paid for by the buyer. I welcome overseas buyers and can be reached at (208)200-6053 anytime day or night. Thanks for checking out our auction and good luck bidding.

Volkswagen Routan dead, pour out a sippy cup for your little homies
Thu, 28 Mar 2013America's minivan wolfpack has just gotten smaller by one. According to Automotive News, Volkswagen officials have confirmed what we've suspected for some time - the Routan is dead. Essentially a lightly reworked version of the Dodge Grand Caravan, the Routan actually hasn't been rolling off of Chrysler's Windsor, Ontario production line at all this year, but VW had yet to confirm its discontinuation. However, Jonathan Browning, CEO of VW America, has reportedly admitted that the Routan is being axed, with remaining units expected to be funneled into corporate functions for "internal purposes."
The move isn't unexpected - the Routan has never been a big seller, with just 57,650 examples moved since sales began in 2008 - peak yearly sales totaled under 16,000 units, and that was back in 2010. And while many have talked of the minivan segment shrinking, Automotive News points out that the segment actually grew 14 percent last year to 597,118 units, though it should be noted that most segments have been on sales upticks as the US economy chugs out of its recession.
So, is volume-crazy Volkswagen prepared to pass on large family vehicle sales? Probably not - the German automaker has signaled that it plans to build a three-row crossover in North America soon, and we wouldn't be surprised if it looks an awful lot like the Crossblue Concept from January's Detroit Auto Show - minus the fancy plug-in diesel powertrain.
Volkswagen unveils sportier Passat Performance Concept ahead of Detroit debut
Fri, 11 Jan 2013Ahead of its official unveiling at next week's Detroit Auto Show, Volkswagen has released some preliminary details and images of its Passat Performance Concept - a car that, as its name suggests, adds a little more spice to the automaker's midsize sedan formula. VW makes no mention of any production intent for this road-ready-looking sedan, simply stating that the Performance Concept is a way to "explore this practical four-door's sportier side."
It certainly doesn't look too sporty, the only visual upgrades being larger 19-inch wheels, dual exhaust, bi-xenon headlamps with VW's Advanced Front Lighting system, LED taillmaps and carbon-look mirror caps. Inside, there are carbon interior accents and two-tone leather upholstery. But no matter, the real upgrades for this mightier Passat are found below the sheetmetal.
Powering the Performance Concept is a 1.8-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, churning out 250 horsepower and sending its grunt to the ground via a six-speed automatic transmission. For reference, that's 80 more horsepower than the Passat's base 2.5-liter inline-five, but 20 horsepower less than the potent 3.6-liter VR6. As for other performance upgrades, Volkswagen has fitted the car with a lowered sport suspension and revamped electronic steering, which should indeed add a bit more dynamic feedback to the already nice-driving sedan.
VW to unveil diesel-electric Twin-Up! in Tokyo
Fri, 08 Nov 2013We've received multiple reports that Volkswagen will be bringing a diesel-electric concept to the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show, set to take place later this month. The car, called the Twin-Up!, is based on the Up! city car, with some sources claiming this is a thinly veiled concept that will eventually enter production.
According to Automotive News Europe, the Twin-Up! will reportedly return 214 miles per gallon on the US cycle by combining an 800-cc, two-cylinder diesel and an electric motor. It will also boast plug-in capabilities, and will be able to cover 30 miles on electric power alone.
Autocar has a more complete picture of the Twin-Up!'s powertrain, though, claiming it's a modified version of the hybrid system found in the Volkswagen XL1. The Twin-Up! will get a more potent, 47-horsepower electric motor to the XL1's 27-hp unit, but will retain that car's 47-hp turbodiesel. The battery pack will also grow, from 5.5 kilowatt hours to 8.6 kWh. Both of these increases are necessary due to the increased weight of the Twin-Up! - it's some 900 pounds heavier than an XL1.
