I have an original 1973 super beetle(72 design early design) marina blue in color, indigo blue interior. I have all registration from date it rolled off show room until it was stored and I purchased it. I drove this to work everyday until I lost my job and cannot afford to continue to repair the age of the vehicle. when the original owner passed away it sat in probate court until auctioned and purchased by me.
The Good
I have redone the ignition have replaced all brake lines, ignition was changed to electronic magneto style ignition(still have all the original parts), tires are in good condition 7/32, has dealer original a/c needs new still runs fans work needs conversion to r-134 and hosing, pulled and de-rusted gas tank, tune up, transmission flush, new wheel cylinders
The Bad...
It doesn't run. I am getting too many Ohms to the ignition coil for it to be able to fire the spark plugs. it maybe a pinch or something else in the original wiring harness. there is no headliner. someone for the auction redid the seats, headliner and put a cover in the dash. In the process they installed the headliner wrong and covered up the holes for the cab light and handles in car. it was also starting to fall and didn't look right.
The dash is a bad cover up they covered the heater holes and such. I don't know what the dash looks like underneath .
The seats were very well done they are done correctly and nicely. Problem is the rear seat has never been sat in, in its life. When they redid the back seat they added padding to take out the depressions where your behind goes and now you cannot use the seat belt because you are up to high.
the radio doesn't work I don't know why I haven't dived into it. It is the original radio. I haven't been able to pull it because there is an a/c system in the way.
The Brakes where bleed and paid for to be bleed. They claimed there was issues with brakes and said that is why they couldn't bleed them. Problem was they bleed backwards. its a dual plunger master. so no brakes up front and tons in back. I can fix just haven't.
can get all electrical fixed within 7 days of selling at no extra cost.

Brazil contemplates safety exemption for VW Kombi as it goes out of production today [w/poll]
Tue, 31 Dec 2013Brazil: the country of carnivals, indescribable beauty adjacent to abject poverty, Ayrton Senna and old Volkswagen models. Only they're not old - they're new, they're just based on old designs. The original Beetle continued production there long after it had been phased out elsewhere, but the original Kombi van has lasted much longer. That ends today, however, with the iconic VW Microbus ambling out of production on the last day of 2013.
VW kept making the van in Brazil with the original air-cooled 1.2-liter boxer four until 2005, after which the original design was updated with a 1.4-liter water-cooled engine. Today, however, it ultimately falls prey to safety regulations that mandate that all vehicles - no matter how old their design - need to have airbags and ABS, forcing Volkswagen do Brasil to cease production of the Microbus after a 56-year production run. But the latest word is that the Kombi (as it's presently known) could get a stay of execution - or at least a resurrection in short order.
According to reports, the Brazilian government is looking into granting the Type 2 Microbus an exemption from said safety regulations, reasoning that the van was designed long before the advent of airbags and ABS. If the measure goes through, the Kombi Last Edition (pictured above) could prove not to be the last at all. So what do you think, should the Microbus get an exemption from Brazilian safety regulations for nostalgia's sake? Vote in our poll below, then have your say in Comments.
VW agrees to halt next-gen rally car development to help others stay in WRC
Sat, 22 Jun 2013Volkswagen has petitioned the FIA to hold on to the current specifications for cars in the World Rally Championship, according to Autosport.com. The move is evidently an effort to keep as many competitors in the sport as possible, despite the fact that using the current spec racers may actually hurt Volkswagen's chances at winning. The three factory teams currently competing in the WRC are at the end of a three-year homologation cycle at the end of 2013, and new cars are expected to bow next year. But developing new racers could cost as much as $4.7 million.
That price tag would put M-Sport (which fields Ford racers) out of the WRC game for 2014 and would put Citroën participation in question as well. VW has already begun work on the next iteration of its Polo R WRC, and the hatch has nabbed four wins in six rounds this season. Now it appears that car won't bow until at least 2015. The FIA has officially agreed to freeze homologation of new WRC cars until the end of next season.
Chrysler slows minivan production, hasn't built VW Routan this year
Wed, 13 Mar 2013Chrysler has slowed production of its Town and Country and Dodge Grand Caravan minivans this week, Automotive News reports. The Windsor, Ontario plant will cut its three shifts from eight hours each to four hours each in an effort "to align production with market demand," a Chrysler spokesperson told AN. Chrysler also builds the closely related Routan minivan for Volkswagen at its Ontario facility, but has not built a single example thus far in 2013.
Sales of Chrysler's minivans fell 15 percent for the first two months of 2013, and a large part of that has to do with the 26-percent drop of the Grand Caravan alone (the T&C was only down by one percent). According to Automotive News data, as of March 1, Chrysler had an unsold inventory of 24,713 Town and Country models and 18,547 Grand Caravans - a 69- and 43-day supply, respectively.
"No sense running full speed now, then have a lot of vehicles sitting around a few months down the line," Chrysler spokeswoman Jodi Tinson told AN. Full production is expected to resume again on March 18.
