You are bidding on a "One of a Kind" 1966' Volkswagen, Volksrod / Volkstruck....

I wanted to create a vw pickup something that was kind of wild but could have been built back in the day.
It was built by me in my garage and
 is in no way perfect.

The motor is a low milage 1600 DP (less then 4500 mi.) the motor is leaking oil (vw's don't leak they sweet horse power) I think it's coming from the drivers side valve cover and maybe the oil cooler, these gaskets are new but I think they got pinched on install.
4 spd trans with new boots, new shift rod bushings and quick shift plate (shifter needs to be adjusted, grinds going into 2 nd gear, I will do it if I get time)
The car has no problem reaching freeway speeds, however it cruises best at about 62/63 mph. (due to the size and weight it bounces around at higher speeds)
Rack-n-pinion front steering (it could use a proper alignment)
Dbug front beam extender
Narrowed ball joint beam with adjusters
Front disk brakes, new duel circuit master cylinder, new rear wheel cylinders and brake pads
Tires: Front Coker Classics 5.60-15 Rear Denman Classic IV L78-15 wide white walls
New dvd / cd stereo (needs to be hooked up)
New upholstery (not perfect but new)
Seats sit on the floor (they have no sliders on them) there is storage under them and the backs are still adjustable
I am 6' 1" and 230 lbs. I fit in the truck
All glass no Lexan, rear slider window, drivers and passengers side windows are cracked (due to door panel install) I have new door glass being made and I will replace them if I have time, if not I will credit the buyer $100.00 back, wrap the new glass and send with the truck.
Doors lock but I do not have keys. (I planed to install new locks when changing out the glass)
All lights are in working order (does not have hazard lights at this time)
30's Ford bed custom cut and fitted
4 1/2" Chop Top, heater channels removed, channeled about 6"

This truck is a blast to drive, it runs smooth (it is one of the smoothest running vw's I have owned) drives straight, stops good and is bumpy as all get out, there are no shocks on the back and it's sitting almost on bump stops that I installed, the front end has new lowerd shocks. I decided to build this truck with a small extended cab and Ford bed to give it a different look, then I panted it to look like a well worn paint job, custom door logos and hand painted striping, I have shown it in many shows (locally and out of town) and have many first place awards. It is not 100% finished but close.

The Volkstruck is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end this listing early.
There is no "Written or Implied Warranty"
All shipping cost is at the buyers expense.
A $1000.00 non refundable deposit is due within 24 hrs after the listing is closed.
The Volkstruck must be paid for in full with cleared funds within 10 days after the listing has closed.
I have a clear title in my name but I will not release the title or car without it being paid for in full with cleared funds.
I can hold the Volkstruck for a reasonable amount of time to arrange for shipping. (I consider 20 days more then reasonable)

An inside look at VW's new California R&D center

Thu, 18 Oct 2012

Less than two months ago, the Volkswagen Group opened a new facility in Oxnard, California (about an hour's drive west of Los Angeles). The $27 million investment, touted as Test Center California (TCC), serves as a research and development lab testing emissions for all brands under Volkswagen's umbrella, including its newest member, Porsche. While still not fully operational, we toured the new 64,000-square-foot building last week and had a first-hand opportunity to see just how much work is involved testing engines and meeting increasingly stringent government emissions standards.
Replacing a similar facility established in 1990 in Westlake Village (about 20-minutes east of the new location), our guide explained how Oxnard was chosen for its temperate climate, varied regional terrain for test drives and low altitude. (The area is only a few feet above sea level - a critical parameter when instrument testing emissions.) The new facility is capable of analyzing hundreds of vehicles, prototypes and customer-owned vehicles, annually.
Most interesting to us was the huge stainless steel climate chamber, with a massive four-wheel dynamometer that allows VW to test running vehicles in both scorching desert and freezing climates without ever leaving the building (an Audi Q7 was running in place during our visit). We were also mesmerized by the countless storage tanks and intricate plumbing of chemicals, stored in both liquid and gas states, needed to perform the variety of tests. Lastly, we took a look at Bugatti's service center on the west coast, located completely within the new center. While there were no supercars on site, the facility is equipped with plenty of spare forged wheels (mounted with expensive Michelin PAX tires) and a Veyron-specific repair jig that allows the vehicle to be completely disassembled, if needed. It is a shame that the facility, which set off all of our automotive geek alerts, is closed to the public.

Volkswagen CrossBlue Coupe is a green fun-machine we want to drive

Fri, 19 Apr 2013

Think back to January's Detroit Auto Show. Those of you that are fans of the Volkswagen brand, impressed with green technology or simply fall into the "diesel geek" category, will almost certainly remember VW's CrossBlue concept with its diesel/electric hybrid powertrain, seating for seven, and somewhat awkward crossover styling. It was an impressive piece of future tech, to be sure, though it left something to be desired in the, well, desirability department.
Here in Shanghai, VW has brought along a CrossBlue Coupe concept that would seem to include most of the goodness of the original, but flavored with more sport and style this time around.
The CrossBlue Coupe makes use of the same electric drive components as the larger three-row concept: two electric motors (front and rear) powered by a 9.8-kWh lithium-ion battery. However, where the original concept made use of a TDI four-cylinder, the Coupe substitutes a 295-horsepower, direct-injection, gasoline-burning V6.

Skoda Octavia vRS is just the thing for your pumped-up neighborhood

Fri, 26 Jul 2013

Skoda, oh Skoda. You're just so cool. Maybe it's the fact that it's a brand that we don't get in these United States, but Skoda's rebadged Volkswagens, in particular the new Octavia vRS shown here, are just different enough from the hum-drum VWs on our shores that the Czech brand seems strangely desirable. Maybe we're just craving forbidden fruit.
This short, minute-long spot covers the new vRS in a world of excess, where strollers ride on 26-inch wheels, lawnmowers feature V8 engines and ice cream cones are the size of toddlers. As things often go in these ads, the Octavia vRS draws the eyes of passerby that are seemingly use to things far more ridiculous than a reasonably priced Czech sedan. In reality, the Octavia should be fairly familiar to American buyers. It uses the same 2.0-liter, turbocharged four-pot found in the Volkswagen GTI and Jetta GLI, with 217 horsepower, and sits on the same platform as the Audi A3 and Volkswagen Golf. Take a look at the full spot, below.
