Convertible California Beauty No Reserve! on 2040-cars
Merced, California, United States
Up for auction is this beautiful 1979 Volkswagen Beetle Convertible. As I'm sure you know, 1979 was the very last year that Volkswagen produced the Beetle Convertible, and this car is one of the very last cars to ever be built as it has a build date of January 1980! That was the very last month of production, ending forever the Beetle Convertible. To me that would make it the most collectable Beetle ever. If you have ever owned or driven a Beetle you know what fun they are to drive! Just running errands is a blast! And a top-down ride this time of the year is pure pleasure. This car has always been a California car, garaged all of its life, the original interior is still in good condition. The top is about five years old; it is in good condition with a couple of small spots that are a little worn through one layer; you can see these in the picture. It goes up and down nicely and seals up great. The original top boot is also included. The body is very straight and the paint still very shiny! I do believe the car has been painted once since it was new. No accidents, the front and rear aprons are as new. All body pieces, the fenders, doors, hood and engine lid are the factory German pieces that the car came with when new. Other than the chrome wheels there are no aftermarket pieces on this car, including the bumpers. Not a 100-point show car, but a very nice car that you will be proud to own. Drive it on the weekend to your favorite car show or really enjoy life and drive it every day! I was told the mileage of 78k is original but I have no documents to prove it, however I believe it to be true since the car is solid and tight like a 78k mile car. A lot of people restore these cars and some do a good job. But here is a car that has never needed restoring! It has always been kept in good condition. Motor runs quiet and strong and was rebuilt about 5000 miles ago. Tires are about 80%. NO RESERVE AUCTION!! means someone will get this great little car. Available for inspection any time during the auction by appointment. Please remember you are bidding to buy, not just come look. All inspections must be completed before the end of the auction. Full payment is due in three days and I don't take PayPal for payment on cars. E-Mail or call me at 831-383-2499 with questions. Clear California title. I'll ship anywhere in the world at buyer's expense. I can help with shipping, I work with a very reliable company and can have it shipped to your door in the U.S. I also ship to Europe out of Oakland Ca. GOOD LUCK and HAPPY BIDDING!!!!

Volkswagen Golf R wagon promises to be fast and functional [w/poll]
Tue, 25 Mar 2014Volkswagen's array of performance-oriented Golfs keeps getting bigger and bigger. What started with the GTI has since grown to include the diesel GTD, the hybrid GTE and the most powerful Golf R. But the additions haven't all come down to powertain. There's been cabrio versions of the GTI and Golf R as well, but before all is said and done, there will be one more bodystyle to join the lineup.
That, according to these latest spy shots, would be the Golf R Variant. For those unfamiliar, Variant is what Volkswagen calls the wagon version of the Golf (in some markets, anyway). It offers the Golf Variant with a variety of engines, but as the spy shots reveal, it is now working on bringing the Golf Variant and the Golf R together into one high-powered, long-roofed model.
The VW Golf R Variant would in all likelihood pack the same 2.0-liter turbo four as the hatchback, splitting 290 horsepower between all four wheels. Only in the wagon, it would offer that extra bit of utility. Of course there's no guarantee that Volkswagen would offer the Golf R Variant in the North American market, but considering that the Golf R hatchback will soon be joined in American showrooms by the Golf SpotWagen (as it's tipped to be called here) in place for the Jetta wagon, the possibility is definitely there.
Volkswagen Group previews its wares on eve of Geneva show
Mon, 05 Mar 2012The Volkswagen Group is comprised of 11 brands producing 240 vehicles across 49 factories throughout the world. So the best way to show off the range of the VW family is to cram a few thousand journalists and VIPs into a massive makeshift stand to outline the Group's goals, what's in the pipeline and what you'll be able to buy later this year.
To that end, VW pulled out all the stops on the eve of the 2012 Geneva Motor Show, bringing along 10 vehicles from across the range. We'll be delving into the details of each over the next two days of show coverage, but before that happens, you can read all about what we saw tonight from the cheap seats after the break.
VW's Winterkorn tells 20,000 staffers of big cost-cutting plans
Thu, 24 Jul 2014During a gathering of 20,000 Volkswagen Group employees at company headquarters in Wolfsburg, Germany on Wednesday, CEO Martin Winterkorn dropped a bombshell. The boss stated that the automaker isn't operating efficiently enough and admitted the company needs to radically start cutting back to raise its profit margins. To right the ship, Winterkorn has proposed killing off less profitable models and spending less on research and development.
According to Reuters, Winterkorn wants to raise the VW brand's profit margin from about 2.9 percent in 2013 to a target of 6 percent. To make that possible, his plan amounts to increasing cost cutting until Volkswagen reaches about 5 billion euros ($6.7 billion) per year to get things back in order. "Over the short-term, we urgently need more efficiency and higher profit," the CEO said during his speech, according to Reuters.
However, Winterkorn can't make these decisions unilaterally. Volkswagen's works council also has a seat on the supervisory board to represent laborers, and it isn't likely to take the proposed cuts sitting down.
