2005 Volkswagen Beetle Gls Convertible 2.0l Rare Harvest Moon Black Leather Mint on 2040-cars
Manhasset, New York, United States
I am selling my rare 2005 Volkswagen New Beetle Convertible in extraordinary condition with only 51k miles. The car looks super and runs better. Always starts and runs flawlessly. Like new top, tires, and brakes. Black leather heated interior, power top with no squeaks, rattles, or leaks, powerful 200 watt Monsoon stereo system, and smooth and crisp shifting automatic transmission. The top doesn't leak but the rear window has a preventative bead of black silicon around the perimeter that is extremely functional but not 100% cosmetically appealing.
Drives straight and smooth. Still smells new. Non smoker owned and garaged. No accidents. Clean Carfax. NADA is $9900. Ultra reliable. This car has never let me down! Excellent MPGs. I recently drove this car from Florida to NY with no issues. Most of its' life was in FL where there is no snow or corrosive road salts resulting in completely rust free car! This is a rare car in Harvest Moon color with extremely low miles. No accidents, clean car fax, and babied. Please review my feedback and bid with confidence. Clean title in hand. I am willing to drive it VW or your local mechanic of choice for a prepurchase inspection. Call or text 561 420-1200. |

CEO says Volkswagen's buying spree is over
Mon, 03 Sep 2012
After adding Italian motorcycle icon Ducati to its stable and spending $5.6 billion on the rest of Porsche, Volkswagen CEO Martin Winterkorn says he's done shopping for a while.
"We have enough to do at the moment in taking our twelve brands to where we want to be," Winterkorn tells German newspaper Handelsblatt.
Witness this insane 736-hp VW Golf immolate its front tires
Mon, 11 Mar 2013There's torque steer and then there's what we'll from now on dub "The Boba," as in Boba Kettler. The German tuner has a way with the Volkswagen Golf, and the MkI example you see above has been touched with 736 horsepower - that's right, 96 more ponies than a new SRT Viper, all trying to get to ground through those two front wheels.
The 2.0-liter, 16-valve engine has an 8,800 rpm redline and is aided by a Garrett GTX3582R turbocharger shoving 50 psi through the internals. Other upgrades include a new ECU (natch) and a six-speed 'box among other treats. The rubber is Toyo R888s - street-legal competition tires. The result is enough smoke for three Chinese New Years when the lights go green. Indeed, the standing start isn't its forte, but it can apparently get from 62 miles per hour to 124 mph in five seconds.
Watch it go in the video below. And know that this isn't even Boba's best work; he's got a 900-hp MkII Golf that'll do 0-62 mph in 2.3 seconds.
Volkswagen hatches hotter GTI in Geneva
Tue, 05 Mar 2013The all-new seventh-generation Volkswagen Golf hasn't even launched here in the United States, but over in Geneva, we're already getting our first glimpse at the hotter GTI hatchback. The fancy new Mk VII Golf is already off to a healthy start with positive reviews in Europe, and we have no doubt that this next GTI will work hard to regain its title as king of the hot hatches.
The big news for this generation of GTI is that for the first time ever, Volkswagen is actually offering two different power grades for the model, both relying on the 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four. Standard cars pack 220 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, but an optional performance pack ups the horsepower number to 230. Hitting 60 miles per hour takes 6.5 seconds (6.4 with the performance pack) and top speed is quoted at 153 mph (or 155 with the performance kit). Volkswagen will continue to offer the GTI with both six-speed manual and dual-clutch transmissions.
On the visual front, the sub-3,000-pound GTI adds the usual bit of hot hatch aggression over the standard Golf, and those changes carry over to the interior with a flat-bottomed wheel and, of course, plaid seats. She's certainly a looker, and while some of us do find the new Golf's design to be a bit staid and evolutionary, the enhancements for the GTI indeed tug on our enthusiast heart strings.
