We bought this car nine years ago for our two daughters to drive in high school and college. It served them very well but now they're both out of school and it's time to serve as economical and dependable transportation for someone else.
The girls put approximately 65,000 reliable miles on the car. The economical diesel engine consistently returned 42-45mpg in city driving and nearly 50mpg on the highway. We have always had it dealer serviced and it never let them down. The tires and brakes are very good. The transmission shifts crisply and the engine starts quickly without excessive smoke. Timing belt and glow plugs done within the last 40,000 miles and receipts for all other service performed. The passenger door power window unit and heater blower are currently not working and will need repair. Also, ABS is intermittent and should be checked. Check engine light and air bag light occasionally send false signals but have been checked and reveal no issues.
We had the black accent paint done to distinguish the car even more. It does show some rock chips on close inspection but it still draws compliments. There is a dent in the right rocker panel but it has sustained no accident damage during the course of our ownership. The paint shows a few small bubbling areas but there is not visible rust. Overall, the car is very presentable for a daily driver. The cloth upholstery is also in good condition with tears or split seams.
This car should have plenty of reliable and economical miles left in it for the next owner. Rather than paying someone to repair the window regulator and heater fan, we chose to price the car very reasonably for a quick sale. It may very well be the best value on an automatic TDI Beetle available today. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or to arrange a personal inspection and/or test drive (which I encourage). The car is sold with no warranties expressed or implied. Full payment is due within one week of auction's end. I can store it for up to thirty days prior to pick up. Thank you for your interest!

VW confirms new TDI for second half of 2014 in Golf, Jetta, Passat and Beetle
Tue, 18 Mar 2014Diesel lovers rejoice. Volkswagen is bringing the latest iteration of its 2.0-liter four-cylinder diesel engine - dubbed the EA288 - to the 2015 model year Golf, Jetta, Passat, Beetle (2013 model pictured above) and Beetle Convertible, and the cars will be on sale in the second half of 2014.
While it shares its moniker with the old diesel, the new engine produces 150 horsepower, a 10-hp boost, and 236 pound-feet of torque. VW promises improved fuel economy as well, but it hasn't announced specifically what amount yet. The company claims that despite the same displacement, only the bore spacing is shared with the previous version. The mill includes new features like exhaust gas recirculation, an intercooler integrated into the intake manifold and low-friction camshaft bearings.
VW Group of America has had great success with diesels in the US recently. Vee-Dub and Audi sold 105,899 diesel-equipped models in 2013. It was the first time the group ever sold over 100,000 diesels in a year, and they accounted for 24 percent of sales. Scroll down to read the full press release about the announcement.
Audi CVT suit settlement given green light, 64,000 cars covered
Mon, 07 Oct 2013Audi drivers, listen up. If you bought or leased a 2002-06 model-year A4 or A6 with a factory-installed Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) that failed, you may be entitled to reimbursement under a recently settled class-action lawsuit with corporate parent Volkswagen.
According to Automotive News, the settlement covers about 64,000 vehicles and alleges that "manufacturing and design problems caused the transmissions to fail and left owners stuck with repair costs." While the suit also argues Audi was aware of these issues (going so far as to hide that knowledge from consumers), the settlement stops short of acknowledging any wrongdoing by the German automaker.
Audi drivers are eligible for a cash reimbursement if their CVT repairs occurred within 10 years or 100,000 miles of the date they bought or leased the vehicle before June 19, 2013. To be eligible for compensation, drivers must submit a claim form (found here) with supporting documents by November 18.
New VW Beetle Convertible ad needs no disguise
Mon, 18 Feb 2013Convertibles make you do funny things. Ask someone if they'd drive a hardtop in near freezing temperatures with all the windows down and they might not even answer, thinking the question so ridiculous. Give that same person a convertible they love and you might just have to ask them to please put the top up even when snow is on the ground.
That guy has to take precautions to enjoy his proclivities, and as this new ad for the Volkswagen Beetle Convertible shows, not everyone understands. Have a watch below, and note that there's just one woman in the minute-long spot, and she's nowhere near the car. Seriously, why didn't VW run this commercial during the Super Bowl?
