See the seller's listing for full details and description of any imperfections.Seller Notes:"Excellent restoration base or with minimum work can have near original daily driver classic. Even has original jack, only small areas sheet metal damage (one may be old CB radio antenna site) with small areas surface rust, no rust apparent in battery area or floor pan, multiple dings/scratches on exterior including some significant dents and hail damage, only non-original- hot-start relay, heater booster fan and modern radio, door cards with water damage- door vinyl and interior vinyl in very good condition, engine starts and runs smoothly, at this time will not idle, probably needs new battery, ran and drove well until parked about 2 yrs ago, 47,680 on odometer but cannot vouch for this but by interior etc, may be real, appears that engine was pulled before (clutch?) reverse switch wire damage, in summary superficially rough exterior, very good interior (only needs door cards and some minor dash/wiring work which is mainly cosmetic), low reserve for as-is"

An almost completely original Super Beetle, even most of the very basic smog hoses of the era, all engine tin appears to be intact, I have not been able to drive since short test drive about 2 years ago, so low reserve reflects my inability to vouch for present running condition, long linear crack in windshield at center, very hard to see and since not in direct visual may not affect inspection, but may need new windshield, tires with very little wear and as above, almost no rust and no structural rust issues except the small area shown driver-side inner wheel arch in trunk, have new horn which needs to be installed and several other new small replacement/maintenance parts which will be included, parts such as engine/tranny/interior/bumpers with their shocks (bumpers with some dents and cracked plastic trim)  may be worth the reserve.  For right offer, I will get it running to ensure present operating condition. Some of the body dents will require more than a little bondo. The carpet is dirty but in pretty good shape. Also not original is the electric fuel pump you can see on top of the fan housing.

Volkswagen e-Co-Motion concept poised for delivery to Geneva

Sat, 02 Mar 2013

With Nissan getting ready to launch the e-NV200, it appears Volkswagen is looking to go after the same zero-emission commercial vehicle market with the all-electric 2013 e-Co-Motion Concept. Debuting next week at the Geneva Motor Show, the e-Co-Motion Concept might be small in size, but VW says it has cargo and payload capacities that should be perfect for small businesses.
Measuring 179 inches long, 75 inches wide and 77 inches tall, the e-Co-Motion Concept has about the same footprint as the current Golf, and it has a cargo capacity of 162 cubic feet and a maximum payload of more than 1,700 pounds. There isn't too much information on the e-Co-Motion just yet - such as what electric components and platform are used - but the press release posted below states while the concept is shown as a cargo van, future body styles could include a passenger wagon or a refrigerated box van.

VW Golf Sportsvan succeeds Golf Plus in Frankfurt

Sun, 08 Sep 2013

Just ahead of this week's Frankfurt Motor Show, Volkswagen has announced the world premiere of its Golf Sportsvan, a near-production concept that succeeds its Golf Plus. VW describes this compact family car as "one of the most versatile vehicles of the compact class," noting that it offers a mix of hatchback and minivan features in a sporty package.
That sportiness comes from the Sportsvan's styling (perhaps more sleek wagon than minivan) and performance features it shares with the Golf GTI - including the XDS+ electronic differential lock, which is integrated into the Electronic Stability Control system to improve agility. At the same time, the Sportsvan's six engine options, which include a turbodiesel, are up to 19-percent more fuel-efficient than their predecessors.

VW's Winterkorn tells 20,000 staffers of big cost-cutting plans

Thu, 24 Jul 2014

During a gathering of 20,000 Volkswagen Group employees at company headquarters in Wolfsburg, Germany on Wednesday, CEO Martin Winterkorn dropped a bombshell. The boss stated that the automaker isn't operating efficiently enough and admitted the company needs to radically start cutting back to raise its profit margins. To right the ship, Winterkorn has proposed killing off less profitable models and spending less on research and development.
According to Reuters, Winterkorn wants to raise the VW brand's profit margin from about 2.9 percent in 2013 to a target of 6 percent. To make that possible, his plan amounts to increasing cost cutting until Volkswagen reaches about 5 billion euros ($6.7 billion) per year to get things back in order. "Over the short-term, we urgently need more efficiency and higher profit," the CEO said during his speech, according to Reuters.
However, Winterkorn can't make these decisions unilaterally. Volkswagen's works council also has a seat on the supervisory board to represent laborers, and it isn't likely to take the proposed cuts sitting down.
