This is a great 1972 Volkswagen Super beetle with just over 2,000 miles a year on it! It starts right up, drives nice and the brakes are good on it. It is fun to drive and gets looks and the stories that tell that many people used to have one. There is a tear in the convertible top which is readily available, the seats could use a recover and the paint job looks good, but could use a respray in a few places. There is a little rust here and there. The previous owner replaced the 34 pict 3 carb with a 30. The 34 pict 3 carb comes with the car. If I had the garage space I would switch out the carb for the original. Once in a while the car will not want to start when it is warm. I am not sure if this is a trait with these cars or a carb adjustment or whatever, but when it gets going it does not stall or hesitate in any way. These cars go for $10-12,000 all fixed up. I do not have a garage to work on it, so he has been waiting for a new owner who can bring him inside and give him the attention he deserves. I would love to keep this car, but it is time to hand it off to someone with a garage and time.  If you have any questions, please feel free to drop me a line. I am setting a reserve and a buy it now price, so bid and if you cannot live without it, if this is the car you have been waiting for, click the buy it now button and it is all yours. I reserve the right to end the auction early due to a local sale and all sales are final. Not being a Volkswagen mechanic or expert, I have to sell this Super Beetle with no warranty written or implied. It is sold where is as is. Thanks so much and have a great day

Volkswagen and Funny or Die take humorous spin in 2015 Golf

Wed, 10 Sep 2014

Volkswagen is partnering with Target and Funny or Die in a bizarre ad for the latest Golf starring comedian Rob Huebel, probably best known for his work on Childrens Hospital on Adult Swim.
The commercial is titled The Way Too Helpful Neighbor and stars Huebel as the eponymous neighbor. The challenge is for Huebel to help improve his buddy's apartment before the guy meets his girlfriend's parents for the first time. The obvious way to do that is to slide a new Golf through an actual Target in Texas, while simultaneously showcasing the store's goods and the car's features.
The commercial is airing online now and on TBS during breaks in Conan O'Brien's show, with sneak peaks during other programs on the network. Auto advertising is becoming pretty normal for Funny or Die at this point, though, with the site previously partnering with Fiat for several videos. Check out the ad above and see if you think it works. Scroll down for VW's announcement.

VW redoes A-ha's 'Take On Me' music video

Wed, 18 Sep 2013

Volkswagen has been responsible for its fair share of witty, clever commercials. "Tiny Vader" might be the most popular, but somehow, we think this newest spot will find a big audience. VW delivers not so much a cover, but a reimagining, of 1980s Norwegian pop band A-ha's famous music video for "Take On Me."
The original opens with an animated motorcycle race, which is revealed to be part of a comic book. VW's version replaces the motorcycle with a Passat, which strikes us as an oddly sober choice when there are cars like the GTI and Beetle in VW's portfolio. But never mind that - take a look down below for the entire 46-second spot. For reference, we've also included the original music video. And if you aren't a fan of the musical stylings of A-ha, just think, VW's choice of 1980s music could have been much worse.

Porsche board members facing another ˆ1.8B lawsuit over VW takeover bid

Mon, 03 Feb 2014

Back in 2008, Porsche got the bright idea that it could take over Volkswagen in the midst of the worst economic slump since the Great Depression. Ignoring that this was a catastrophic move for the Stuttgart sports car manufacturer that that eventually resulted in it nearly going bankrupt and eventually being taken over by the same company it sought to control, the aftermath has left Porsche Chairman Wolfgang Porsche and board member Ferdinand Piëch in the crosshairs of seven hedge funds that lost out during the takeover and are now seeking €1.8 billion - $2.43 billion US - in damages from the two execs, according to the BBC.
See, investors bet on Volkswagen's share price going down, partially because Porsche said it wasn't going to attempt a takeover. But Porsche was attempting to take over VW, having bought up nearly 75-percent of VW's publicly traded shares. When word broke that Porsche owned nearly three-quarters of VW (which indicated an imminent takeover attempt), rather than go down like the hedge funds bet it would, VW's share price skyrocketed to over 1,000 euros per share, according to Reuters.
Naturally, when you bet that a company's share price is going to drop and it in turn (temporarily) becomes the world's most valuable company, you lose a lot of money, unless you're able to buy up shares before prices jump too much. This led to a squeeze on the stock, which the hedge funds accuse Porsche and Piëch (who are both members of the Porsche family and supervisory board) of organizing.
