This antique 1970 Volkswagan Beetle was purchased by me in Jacksonville, Florida in May 1997 and I have owned it ever since. The car is in decent shape for it's age (43 years old!), however, it has not been driven since 2009. The car is for sale as is, and will most likely need some mechanical work to get it road-ready again. Lots of mechanical work was done to the car during the 12 years that I was actively driving it. I installed an all-new floor; a new gas tank; ball joints; tie rods; and various other electrical components. The paint is worn, there is some minor rust near the running boards, and the interior needs some cosmetic attention. There is also no back seat. The purchase price does not include the cost of towing the vehicle.
I am sentimentally attached to this car and absolutely hate having to let it go. The problem is, I do not drive it and I do not have the time nor funds to maintain it. It has enormous potential and could be a fantastic project car for a distinguished collector of antique automobiles.

VW investigating Golf water leak discovered by car magazine
Sat, 07 Sep 2013Volkswagen is in a spat with German magazine Auto Bild over claims that its new, seventh-generation Golf may already need a recall. The German weekly reports that new Golfs can leak water into front-passenger footwells due to a faulty drainage tube in their air conditioning systems.
And while the fix itself doesn't sound too terrible, because Volkswagen bases so many cars off the same platform as the Golf, Auto Bild is claiming that 300,000 models could be affected, including the Audi A3 and Seat Leon. That's a very bold claim. For its part, VW is vehemently denying that number, according to Reuters, saying it's aware of the problem and claiming only 46 Golfs need fixing. In addition, it denies that any Audi or Seat models are affected by the issue.
Either way, regardless of how pervasive this leak issue is, North American buyers should rest easy knowing that the problems ought to get fixed by the time the Mk VII Golf finaly reaches our dealerships.

Let's have some fun, and do some math. We're talking pretty rudimentary stuff, multiplication and division, to figure out if the upcoming Volkswagen Jetta Hybrid can make a baseline case for itself against two very strong competitors in this segment. The competitors in question, at least for now, are two more Jettas: the diesel-drinking TDI and the fit-for-the-masses SE with VW's long-serving 2.5-liter engine.
To keep the equations clean and simple (hey, we're writers), we'll calculate based on the most flattering EPA miles per gallon stat from highway driving for all cars, assume a healthy 20,000 miles driven per year, and factor in today's average cost for the respective fuels these three require: diesel (TDI), regular (SE) and premium (Hybrid). We'll also start with the base prices for all models.
