1964 Volkswagen Beetle Bug, Sunroof, Matching Numbers! Perfect Christmas Gift on 2040-cars
Bellflower, California, United States
I would consider this bug a very nice weekend car. Not a daily driver nor a show car. Looks great, and turns heads all the time. Starts right up and very reliable. I've driven it in on several two hour stretches and cruised steady at 60mph with no problem. Turns heads!
Matching Numbers Vehicle! Checked the stampings on body, pan, engine, and title, all from September 1963. According to the title this vehicle was first sold in 1963. Samba.com designates all stampings from exact month and year. Chassis number: 5889351, Engine number: 8557720, Body number: 5889351, Title VIN: 5889351. Original Sunroof! Sunroof opens and closes with no problem New Interior! All seats and door panels are new and look great. All glass is in good condition. Windows work good. All weather seals are in good condition. Lights work good. Headlight bezels show signs of aging. I bought this car only a few months age with the intention of giving it to my son as a birthday gift, however after several conversations with him I realized that it was not something he desires. I have been driving it around town and have enjoyed it, but i have too many other cars, and need to sell this one. It would make the perfect christmas gift. I believe the original color of the vehicle was blue, I can tell in the sunroof frame that it was a different color. Paint looks good but it is not perfect, I have found a few imperfections here and there. However it looks good. The chrome on a couple of wheels has some chrome chipping. The front inner fenders show signs of prior accident. I have no knowledge of the accident but I can tell that it has been repaired. There is presently no stereo in it, but upon completion of this sell a stereo with a classic look will be installed. I have in my possession a clean California title. Sale of this vehicle is as is with no implied warranties. I've described this vehicle to the best of my abilities, I am no expert or a dealer. Personal inspections are advised and can be made via appointment. Buyer is responsible for a $500.00 deposit within 24 hours of sale completion. If you win this auction make sure you pay your deposit within 24 hours and full price within 72 hours. If you win and do not pay I will give you negative feedback. This is good looking car that you can cruise and enjoy without the price of a fully restored bug. Good Luck and Happy Bidding! |

Silverado HD, Touareg V10 TDI face off in diesel tug-of-war
Sun, 30 Dec 2012A couple weeks ago, we watched a Chevrolet Silverado get dominated by a Dodge Ram Heavy Duty in a fullsize pickup tug-of-war, but in that truck's defense, Chevy's Vortec gas engine was no match for the torquey Cummins turbo diesel. For our next round of vehicular tug-of-war, a Duramax-powered Silverado HD takes on Volkswagen Touareg V10 TDI.
Now, on paper, putting the Duramax V8's 365 horsepower and 660 pound-feet of torque up against the V10's 310 hp and 553 lb-ft looks like an easy win for the Bowtie, but unfortunately, this battle has a similar result as the Dodge versus Chevy video, with the Silverado smoking its tires trying to move forward as it gets pulled backwards. Put another way: YouTube 2, Chevy Silverado 0.
It just goes to show, though, that big tires, bolt-on fender flares and goofy smoke stacks don't improve your towing abilities. Besides, what did the Silverado driver expect when the Touareg V10 TDI has towed a Boeing 747 in the past?
VW readying new VR6 with forced induction
Fri, 27 Sep 2013Volkswagen built a stonking, narrow-angle V6 in the 1980s and 1990s that was found in three different generations of the Golf (their performance iterations, obviously), three generations of the Passat, the New Beetle, the Corrado and the Touareg, among other VWs, a spate of Audis, Seats, a Skoda, and even the Porsche Cayenne. It was a sad day when it was announced that it'd be put out to pasture.
Rejoice, though, fans of the venerable VR6, because Volkswagen has a new, modern variant in the works that, according to AutoWeek, features direct injection and can easily be fitted with forced induction. In fact, AW mentions Volkswagen insiders that claim this unit will spawn a production version of the twin-turbo V6 shown on the Design Vision GTI from this year's Wörthersee festival. That unit produced an epic 503 horsepower and 413 pound-feet of torque.
Don't expect a production unit with that level of power (although it would make a hardy RS4 powerplant), though. In reality, AutoWeek is suspecting anywhere from 340 to 450 horsepower from the new mill. When it arrives at an undisclosed date in the future, it'll likely be found in the Passat and Passat CC as well as the production version of the CrossBlue.
VW makes $23K on every Porsche sold, more than Bentley or Lamborghini
Fri, 14 Mar 2014It's a good time to be in the luxury car business. In Volkswagen Group's financial report for the 2013 fiscal year, it is revealed that that Porsche enjoyed an operating margin of 18 percent. That means the Stuttgart brand made on average about $23,200 per car sold, according to BusinessWeek. Bentley wasn't far behind, and Audi (which was combined with Lamborghini) posted a 10.1 percent margin. This compares to only around 2.9 percent for the Volkswagen brand.
"Luxury brands are on fire," said Dave Sullivan, an industry analyst at AutoPacific. He said that the average profit margin is between six and eight percent. Brands like Porsche and Bentley have the benefit of competing in rarefied markets. Buyers looking at one their vehicles have fewer models to shop against and don't care as much about price. They can also charge more for options, which further boosts income, according to BusinessWeek.
In a way, we should be more impressed by the continued success from Audi. Its models generally have direct competitors in every segment from the other premium automakers. Plus, their buyers aren't the captains of industry who are shopping for a Bentley. Still, the Four Rings is leading rivals in sales so far this year.
