Beautiful 1961 Volkswagen Classic Beetle, Full Frame-Up restoration less than 5,000 miles ago, over $22,000 invested in a 2 1/2 year restortation process by Custom Designs and JJ's Auto in Williams, AZ! Starting with a Southern California rust-free 1961 body and frame, the vehicle was completely stripped and rebuilt from the ground up, including transplanting a 1976, 1600 CC motor, transmission and transaxle with only 76,000 original miles from another Southern Cal rust-free Beetle. $4700 custom paint job, new interior and headliner, new chrome bumpers, hubcaps, new wheels and tires, brakes, suspension, battery, converted electrical system to 12 volt, heat exchangers, seat belts added for safety, AM/FM classic look radio, window rubbers, running boards etc etc etc. If it needed it, it got it! Also includes original classic VW wire basket roof rack and new car cover.

This Beetle attracts attention everywhere it goes and is an award-winning car, taking Best Foreign Vehicle at the 2012 Williams Cool-Country Cruise-In against dozens of other outstanding cars and trucks. Great runner, needs absolutely nothing, just hop in and enjoy a trip back to the 60s! Only imperfections are a slight paint crack on the edge of  the front hood where it flexes on the stock hood prop (not casually noticeable and I use an additional front prop to hold the lid open for fueling and shows); also foam that was injected into dash to stop air leaks expanded into air grill (see pics for both).  Reluctantly selling as my wife and I are retiring and intend to spend the majority of our time traveling so hoping it goes to someone who will really appreciate and drive it!

Beetle is being sold as-is, where-is with NO RESERVE! Potential bidders are welcome and encouraged to inspect the Bug in-person in Williams AZ, gateway to the Grand Canyon - cruise it down Route 66 for the perfect test drive! Buyer will be responsible for all transportation costs and arrangements or fly-in/drive out from Flagstaff AZ airport. $500 Paypal deposit due within 48 hours of auction end, full payment within 7 days or as arranged with seller. Balance payable in cash in person, cashiers check or wire transfer. Clear open AZ title, private seller, no tax in AZ. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding!

Former Porsche boss Wiedeking won't face criminal charges over VW bid

Mon, 28 Apr 2014

Hedge fund managers have been suing Porsche for years now, alleging that the car company lied about its intentions during its failed attempt to take over Volkswagen, a gambit that caused them billion in losses. Over the same period, authorities in Stuttgart built a criminal case against former CEO Wendelin Wiedeking (above, left) and Chief Financial Officer Holger Härter (right), filing charges in December 2012. When those fund plaintiffs lost their most recent court case, one of the dimming lights in the dark and receding tunnel was that the criminal investigation might unearth more evidence about Porsche's actions that could help the plaintiffs in pending litigation.
Bloomberg reports that another light has gone out, though, with a Stuttgart court dismissing the market manipulation case before going to trial because, as a court spokesperson said, "there wasn't enough evidence backing up the charges." When prosecutors get the files back from the court, they have a week to decide to refile, but unless they've been sandbagging evidence that could bolster the case, the only lights at the end of the tunnel will be those welcoming Wiedeking and Härter back to the world of legally unencumbered men.

New VW Beetle Convertible ad needs no disguise

Mon, 18 Feb 2013

Convertibles make you do funny things. Ask someone if they'd drive a hardtop in near freezing temperatures with all the windows down and they might not even answer, thinking the question so ridiculous. Give that same person a convertible they love and you might just have to ask them to please put the top up even when snow is on the ground.
That guy has to take precautions to enjoy his proclivities, and as this new ad for the Volkswagen Beetle Convertible shows, not everyone understands. Have a watch below, and note that there's just one woman in the minute-long spot, and she's nowhere near the car. Seriously, why didn't VW run this commercial during the Super Bowl?

Audi investing $30.3 billion through 2018 for product expansion

Sun, 29 Dec 2013

How does Audi plan to reach two million units in annual sales and pay for the 11 new models it's adding to its lineup - an expansion that may include models named SQ2, Q9 and F-Tron? By increasing its investment to 22 billion euros ($30.3 billion US) between now and 2018. That figure represents an increase of about 500 million euros over the previously planned outlay, according to a report by Automotive News, and that could be due to Audi wishing to goad the momentum that pushed it to 1.5 million annual sales two years ahead of schedule.
It's also about staving off the challenges from BMW and Mercedes-Benz. Now that BMW has been able to turn some of its attention away from its "i" series of Megacity cars, it will reportedly spend more than planned in 2014 as it continues the rollout of ten all-new vehicles and 15 new-generation vehicles through the end of next year. Mercedes, having been dropped to third in the sales race, is preparing to add 13 new cars over the next six years.
Audi's money is going into technology, into product like the next-generation TT and the Q1 and production expansions and upgrades all over the world. The expenditure represents just under a fourth of Volkswagen's 84.2 billion-euro ($115.7 US) outlay devoted to taking the number-one global automaker title away from General Motors and Toyota by 2018.
