1986 Toyota Mini-monster Truck 4 Wd Manuel on 2040-cars
Ellenville, New York, United States
This is a fun truck. A professional re-did the solid frame and shortened it to make it a little monster. I go back and forth to work about once a week with it. It is good for off the road 4 wheel drive and the interior is in need of attention if you plan to be riding your significant other around in it. It is currently inspected in NY and good for about 10 months. It needs interior detailing. There is no gas tank indication so I carry an extra gas tank with me to make sure that if I run out then I have fuel to get to the station - it never happened yet. A/C does not currently work; I just lower the window. The last owner was a White Tail Deer Hunter so I left the decal on it. I can deliver it in the Hudson Valley for a small additional fee OTHERWISE YOU MUST ARRANGE TO PICK IT UP OR HAVE IT DELIVERED. The last owner took some pollution stuff out of it to run it off road. IF I don't sell it then I will clean out the Vacuum Valve or put a new on in it before the cold weather. IT got snowed in the middle of last winter with about 3 foot of snow in the middle of my 1/4 mile drive way so I left it there until spring thaw and it started right up. I can usually show this on weekends. 845 259 2323 or 845 645 6763. Leave a message or keep trying. KEEP ON TRUCKING. I have this for sale locally. First cash buyer gets it. |

Refreshed 2013 Toyota Landcruiser Prado gets official [w/video]
Fri, 30 Aug 2013We'd seen leaked images of the the refreshed 2013 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado, now Toyota has deemed it officially ready for the European masses it is aimed at. We can only hope the masses are ready for that grille, probably the most intense of the many changes made to the volcano-eating truck. The new face and its "powerfully projecting vertical bars" were designed to "accentuate the new Toyota's rugged appearance," as if the legendarily capable SUV wasn't rugged enough. Other changes include redesigned headlight clusters, stronger character lines along the sides, new taillights and license plate "garnish" in back, and a slew of new wheel choices. Both the three- and five-door are 20 millimeters longer, all of that in the front overhang, but the approach angle apparently hasn't changed.
The new organization of trims runs from Entry to Legend, Prestige and Executive. The interior has been reorganized with better seats in the second and third rows, a new upper center console, a redesigned panel for controlling on- and off-road driving functions, reworked Optitron meters with a 4.2-inch LCD screen, and new switchgear, fabrics and color schemes. Infotainment has been upgraded with Toyota Touch 2 and Toyota Touch 2 with Go. They mirror your smartphone if said phone happens to be either a Samsung Galaxy S3 or Galaxy Note 2.
On-road driving dynamics have been improve with suspension changes, and a Rear Cross Traffic Alert added to the suite of safety features for maneuvering the beast. When it comes to the Land Cruiser's real reason for being, the five Multi-terrain Select choices and five-step Crawl Control are more easily used with a Multi-terrain Monitor reworked for more clarity.
Judge halts Toyota unintended acceleration cases, triggers time for settlement negotiations
Mon, 16 Dec 2013So far, the lawsuits brought forth against Toyota for unintended acceleration have gone both ways: the automaker was found not at fault in a 2009 California crash and liable for a 2007 crash in Oklahoma. Both cases involved a Camry and resulted in fatalities. With a big chunk of these UA cases (around 200) set to his the docket of US District Judge James V. Selna in Santa Ana, California, Bloomberg is reporting that the judge has halted the lawsuits until March after Toyota and its lawyers have had extra time to try and settle the cases.
According to the article, Toyota is looking to take care of the cases out of court with an "intensive settlement process." Having already paid out $1.6 billion in "economic loss" suits, this latest settlement process is aimed at the wrongful death and personal injury cases allegedly associated with unintended acceleration. A hearing for the settlements will be held on January 14 with conferences on the matter commencing in February. There is no word as to when lawsuits may start back up if settlements can't be agreed upon.
Toyota sudden acceleration class action may cover 22 million owners
Thu, 16 May 2013A total of 22.6 million current and former Toyota owners have been sent notices that they may be eligible to receive compensation from the automaker for damages related to the unintended acceleration fiasco that has dominated headlines in 2009 and 2010. The total payout may be as high as $1.63 billion, according to The Detroit News.
Steve Berman, a lawyer for the owners, calls the potential deal "a landmark, if not a record, settlement in automobile defects class action litigation in the United States." Still, there's some debate about whether or not Toyota's proposed settlement is fair, as it includes $30 million for safety research and driver education programs - in other words, Toyota seems to be suggesting that drivers need more education on how to drive their correctly working and fully functional vehicles. For those keeping track, Toyota would also be paying lawyer fees of $200 million.
A US District Judge in California is scheduled to hold a so-called "fairness hearing" on June 14 that could decide the fate of this particular settlement. Further courtroom wrangling will be required to hash out any wrongful death suits levied against Toyota stemming from unintended acceleration claims, as those are not part of this class-action suit.
