I was looking for a cool car for the summer from my list of 'always wanted' cars - I was going to buy either an '80's 300ZX or a Supra when I found this car. I wanted a targa, but the low miles on this car caught my attention. After driving for a few weeks I've decided to sell on and find the targa I really want. This car is titled, registered and insured in my name, so the idea was not to 'flip' - here are some details:
Original and unmolested Supra hardtop. Very low 80K miles. Non-turbo, so it hasn't been modified or beat - one owner up until Aug 2012. Car in overall good condition. Paint is mostly original and shows wear expected of a 26 year old car (some clearcoat wear on the roof and rear bumper). No rust and the cloth interior is in great shape. The color is bronze. It will need some TLC, but it is a great start for a resto or race car - it would make a good first car as well. Please email for more info and to set up a test drive.

The Supra is eligible for QQ (Historic) plates in NJ. The tires are new.
Known issues: The windshield has a crack - the A/C will need a charge, and the steering rack has has a drip after sitting for a few days.

Please note: The Supra is for sale AS-IS, WHERE IS. No warranty or guarantee as the car is used and 26 years old. I don't know if it will pass your local inspection and I cannot make any guarantees. As they say in Texas - if you buy it and it breaks in half - you own both parts! I'm looking for a serious buyer - ebay charges $50+ for these ads, so please don't just bid for fun. I reserve the right to cancel any bidders with less than a 10 feedback score unless we discuss details beforehand.

Thanks

Toyota recalls 4,000 Tacoma pickups over valve springs

Thu, 07 Nov 2013

When you build as many cars and trucks as Toyota does, you're bound to run into the occasional recall. In the past month alone, the Japanese auto giant has recalled over 800,000 Camry, Avalon and Venza models over problems with the air-conditioning units, and 10,000 more before that over windshield wiper issues. Now Toyota has issued another recall notice, but this time for far fewer vehicles.
The recall revolves around the engine valve springs in the 2013 and 2014 Tacoma, specifically those fitted with the standard 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine and not the optional 4.0-liter V6. The issue is that the valve springs are prone to cracking and breaking over time, and results from improper maintenance of the manufacturing equipment used by one of the two suppliers that outfit Toyota with the components in question.
All told, some 4,000 vehicles will be subject to the voluntary recall, the owners of which will receive notice by mail. If you think that could be you and want to get a jump on the problem, you can read the announcement below and call Toyota yourself.

Toyota recalling 11,200 Scion iQ models over faulty passenger sensors

Wed, 07 Nov 2012

Toyota has announced a voluntary recall of 11,200 Scion iQ models from the 2012 and 2013 model years. According to the manufacturer, the problem with these pint-sized hatchbacks concerns the front passenger Occupant Classification System (OCS) weight sensor cables.
The OCS sensors in the front passenger seat control the operation of things like the airbags and seatbelt pre-tensioner. In these affected models, the cables for these sensors located in the seat track can become damaged as the passenger seat slides forward and backward. And if the cables are damaged, the airbags and seatbelt pre-tensioner may not function properly.
No injuries or crashes have been reported in conjunction with this issue.

Toyota to drop regular-cab Tacoma as small pickups take another hit

Fri, 02 Aug 2013

Even as General Motors prepares to redesign its midsize pickups, the market for sub-fullsize trucks continues to shrink. The remaining competitors in the segment are the well-aged Nissan Frontier, Honda Ridgeline and Toyota Tacoma, and now Truck Trend is reporting that the latter will be dropping its regular cab model due to poor sales.
According to the article, the available configurations for the Tacoma lineup will be whittled down in 2015, which apparently spells the end for the two-door Taco. The Tacoma is currently the last truck in its class to be offered in a regular cab configuration, with the Frontier no longer offering a standard cab model and spy shots of the next-gen Chevrolet Colorado not revealing any glimpse of a short cab, either.
